Decent price and really nice staff, the idea of the museum is nice aswell.I really liked the aquarium.
University/state research museum features lives and lifestyles of the southwest native Americans. Ten nations depicted in walk through display.Largest collection of native American pottery in the world.Permanent and temporary exhibits.Library available for research.Great gift shop full of arts and crafts. Serious rugs, jewelry, katsinas, books, reference materials.$5 entry fee well worth it. Entry free to gift shop.17 and under, free.Memberships available offering lots of benefits.
The campus at UofA is nice to walk around, but considering it is hot as hell that only lasts so long. The museum is a nice respite from the blazing temps. The museum was also a participant in the Blue Star Museum initiative to allow military members access to select museums. Active duty military members need culture and this program provides an avenue for the defenders of our nation. The museum is centered around a maze of hallways depicting all the tribes of native cultures from Arizona extending south. The meticulous detail provided to explain the cultures was above reproach. There were multiple different media presentations about the different tribes. If you like pottery this is the place for you. They have an extensive collection of priceless pottery on display. The many different varieties and handiworks are on display.
This museum on the University of Arizona campus currently has an exhibit tracing the history of weaving textiles and baskets from roughly 4000BC to the present. It is very interesting as it traces the evolution of textiles and basketry from utilitarian to an art form. The focus is upon the Native American tribes in Arizona. The exhibit is suitable for children and adults. Its easy to spend 2-3 hours looking at the exhibits and reading the interpretive information. The museum also has an interesting display of Native American pottery. While you are on campus you should also visit the USS Arizona Memorial located in the quad behind Old Main. It is a sober reminder of the tragedy of December 8, 1941.
The website is rarely updated and has false promises of certain exhibits. The museum itself is decent I suppose but not very grand or large with some exhibits being written in a misleading manor. The museum needs to be updated severely and it needs funding. Also the staff werent paying any attention to anything at all.
Amazing displays and open to the public. Loved all the amazing native artifacts.
Excellent presentation of Arizona archeological, anthropological and historical story. The weaving is amazing! The story is told through artifacts, dioramas and artifacts that bring it to life. I should have been back sooner. A 5 minute walk from the inexpensive parking garage and modest $8 entrance fee. A better explanation of how to go through the exhibits would have helped.
Its a good historys museum but also serves well as a framework for a little party #ball#dance#refreshing drinks
I loved the whole experience. I learned a lot. Quiet, respectful, very informative and comfortable. The staff were very professional and polite. They were enthusiastic about the museum.
Another great Tucson place to visit.
Very well put together exhibits with thoughtful narratives.
Thee is Soo much history here. It will take weeks to learn all that is there. Very nice
A wonderful collection of all the native Americans in Arizona. Very educational for adults. Did not make time for a docent. Will do that next time. Combined with the UA art museum for a great afternoon.
Very informative exhibit about the tribes of the Southwest, although it looks dated (early 2000s). I wonder if theres any updated information to be included? Anyway, heavily recommended to know the history of Arizona.
Learn human history of western coast of North America and focus on Southwest. Pottery/basket collection is exquisite. Good museum store for special gifts for friends and family.
Not open. Waste of tax payer money.
Very informative about the tribes here in Arizona. Well displayed and organized. We enjoyed the museum
We fell in love with their pottey collection years ago and the reason we keep coming back to AZ. Gem in the southwest for all the native american artifactsA must visit!
Top notch. Couldnt stand to read about the atrocities our culture has inflicted on the native people but the cultural displays are really well done.
We loved the museum! The woman at the desk was very knowledgeable and friendly. I liked that there were places to rest as you went through the museum.
They give the truest look at the Southwest history as possible. They also have the best display of the art of weaving. I will visit again and recommend it to everyone.
Very Beautiful & Worth to visit
Many cool exhibits here that teach about the native cultures in and around Arizona.
Just, Wow. So much fascinating information, this museum is a real treat and I think every American should go just to learn a little more about the history and the countries ancestors. Really recommend.
Surorisely good, wide range of exhibits.
Great history display. Easy to spend a couple of educational hours in there.
Very nice museum, mostly outsideWildlife, desert, rocks, reptiles and aquarium. Some of the animals were hidind, so you couldnt see them. Expect to walk
Door closed 15 mins before the official closing time. The employees inside did not open the door. If this is the rule, then the museum should state it publicly. Disappointed.
One of the BEST experiences as well as 100 % educational for ALL ages.Their family membership package is ONE of the BEST packages Ive ever have received. This organization is highly recommend for everyone.
Good to see the old dioramas from the original museum!!
More physical specimens would be a great addition. It was very professionally done.
Lots of really cool information and history focusing on multiple Native American tribes.
Great museum and intresting sales
Great history of Arizona and the docents were engaging the visitors with a smile. Make sure you have a bit of time to see it all.
Its really cool and fun
Extensive History of the Indian nations of the Southwest. Info on lifestyles, migration and tools. Large display of pottery and Hopi dolls. Has a conservation lab that can be visited.
Larger collection than I expected, and its beautiful!
My son and I went several weeks back, and we both loved it. The facilities on the university campus are always immaculately kept, and full of history. My son loved the Native American exhibits, especially the pottery. Seriously, youre missing out if you dont take advantage of the universitys facilities and explore whats around.
Interesting history of the area and indigenous people.
Beautiful Native-American art pieces, particularly baskets and pottery, as well as a great exploration of their history.
FANTASTIC exhibits!! Top quality.
Well presented exhibits and very much information.
Smaller than it looks. The upper floors are off limits
Wonderful native American museum
Summary based on one visit:--didnt have high expectations, but found the exhibits quite interesting--reasonable entry fee--parking in fee lot nearby--some very nice items in the store, especially better quality Hopi silver. Prices seemed lower and variety of higher quality pieces greater than some other places. If youre making a significant purchase, inquire whether it makes financial sense to join the museum for the discounts.
Great place to spend two hours. They have docents, changing exhibits, and lovely place on the campus of U of A
Awesome place to visit.
This is a great museum right on the edge of the UA campus. One section tells you at great length about the growth and demise of the Hohokam and the other part tells of the tribes still active in the Southwest. How they were originally, how outside influences affected them and how they are now. Fascinating!!!!
A great pleace anda a wonderful guide.
Nice displays and very informative on American Indian tribes and history. A part of American history that should never be forgotten.
Very good museum! Great collection and well presented. Reasonable price and friendly staff.
The museum was nice and the cost of 5 dollars per adult was an acceptable rate.
Very systematically and welcoming!
Good exhibits that delve into the history of the area. While Im not into history, I did learn a significant amount. The Shakespeare exhibit they had with the First Folio was quite incredible.
Tons of history a must stop!
Making Indian corn learning to weave at the basket exhibit
Feels a bit old, but the exhibitions are really focused and they feature some unique regional objects that are not easily seen in other museums.
Very interesting museum! Had lots for kids to touch and explore too!
This has a expansive collection of native American pottery they have.
I loved and learned. Fabulous way to spend 5 bucks
Like native American Indian history then visit
Love this place. Great kochina dolls exhibit on now.
Great facility with a comprehensive overview of Arizonas state history. Well worth the time.
Good display
Very beautiful in presenting history, but its all about native culture. Which is great, but I was also looking forward in other history categories.
A lot of stuff, you need to be aware of all the details
Inexpensive little museum. Nice when you are pressed for time
Amazing artifacts and displays . Learn about American Indian culture and see real artifacts . Very clean and nice inside and very comfortable couches to sit and relax.
I really enjoyed the temporary exhibit and the depth of knowledge offered about local American Indian nations and history.
Fantastic & Educational.
Very cool native exhibits, some a lil outdated
Historic peices.
A really neat place!
Well balbir525 a museum is almost never gonna be free. Youve gotta pay something for them to stay on business. You must be one of those people who expects everything for free or in other words something for nothing.
One of the best archaeology museums
Its a little difficult to access because of crowds on campus, but worth the effort.
Feel guilty if youre not Native American.
The exhibit of Curtis 19th C photographs of American Indians is very impressive. Too bad theyre not part of our permanent collection
Great
Very interesting
A MUST VISIT!
Truly exhilarating and fun!
I loved it
Wonderful experience.
Excellent exhibits and staff.
I loved it
Always a WOW just like the U of A Museum of Art.
Great collection.

Cool stuff here
A Tucson gem. Right inside the University of Arizona main gate
Amazing collections, Thanks,
