Good place to take a hike
Great hike, straight up and down so don’t do if you have bad knees! Also, no shade so bring a hat!Beautiful saguaro cactus and nice info signs along the hike.
Breathtaking, its amazing! Anyone out of town or local alike should go if they are physically able to, it is a tough hike though so I would recommend binging a lot of water, sunscreen, and a hat. It is 3 miles and nearly all uphill, large downhill though too. If someone cannot do uphill or downhills I would recommend a different flat hike in Tucson, like the first mile of Sabino Canyon instead.
Great little paved road to walk on. In the evening you get a gorgeous view of the city. The trail starts down by the hospital then meanders it’s way up the hill. It’s a great place to go daily for exercise.
Great nature walk and an even better view the higher you go. Be sure to bring water though
On a one day trip in Tucson, in July, and having just eaten a sonoran hotdog and orange soda (yum), I was thoroughly not prepared for the hike. Yes I read the reviews beforehand but simply didnt have time to go back to the hotel. It is TOUGH, especially for a man from a Texas. I really should have turned around and went downhill at the halfway point but my ego got the best of me. No water or long sleeves or hat or sunscreen but I made it. Almost died I think. Luckily there was a water fountain halfway even though it was hot water. Still refreshing. Wow. No regrets, just amazing views.
Awesome for a quick paved hike with a great view as a payoff. Great to catch sunrise or sunset. If youre observant and lucky you may even catch some wildlife. You can download the official app to learn more about unique university research site. Search Android and iOS stores for Tumamoc Tour prior to starting your hike.
It is a paved hiking trail. Trust me on one thing... it is steeper than you can imagine. I thought I was going on a slightly difficult run, but it was brutal my calfs burned hotter than the sun! Hahah There are no dogs allowed to keep the habitat undisturbed. There is parking along the street and bike stations about 100 feet into the trail or so. The view at the top is totally worth it. There are a couple signs by the UofA about common animals you might encounter which are informative. A tip from me to you: Carry a light jacket, because its a big windy at the top and since you will be sweaty you are likely to get cold once you cool down. There is a water fountain and port o potty halfway up so dont worry about taking gallons on top of gallons of water. Ive seen people of all ages here from toddlers in strollers to senior citizens. You can climb it if you are determined. Slow and steady wins the race!
It doesnt hurt me to look at the views
Great place to enjoy the out doors and exercise! It doesn’t take long to finish . I take like an hour in total(up and down) and that is at a steady pace and while talking to my friend. The view up there is beautiful as well!
Great place to walk as long as its not too hot! Its a pretty tough uphill walk though. So be in good shape if your going to attempt it!
Definately my favorite place to urban hike in Tucson. 3 miles round trip on a paved road. Elevation is approximately 740 feet according to my altimiter. In talking to others the average completion time is about 70 minutes. Some people run it while others push strollers and everything in between. I definately recommend not bringing your kids here unless they really want to go, they wine and drag their feet the whole time. However, some go beast mode and get it done. But very few including mine have a great time and ask if we can do that again. They do have a water fountain at the half way point and 1 portable potty that is pretty hideous, based on the volume of people they could use another 4. Early mornings and late evenings are always packed. Just as a precaution bring your own water and dont feed the animals. They have deer forraging there so just observe dont be that guy!
Love the walk up, got to see deers up close and personal with the kids
A great way to escape the city and explore Tucson with a birds eye view. Spectacular view at the top.
Great walk if you are trying to get in shape or are in shape (multiple times up or going faster or pick up a boulder to carry up). Just verify their OPEN times.
This hill will have you breathing like a wounded buffalo if you arent used to steep hikes. 3miles total it is very steep but worth it. Porta Johns at the halfway point but they dont always have tp. Might bring a tissue or 2 if you know you pee a lot?
Stunning new road
What an amazing desert sanctuary in the middle of town where you can spot deer roaming freely.
A great place to go hiking!
Great cardio hike.
Good challenging hill
Watch out for cars!
