Ive been going to Donner Lake since I was a small child. Its a lot more crowded than it was then. Weekends are very crowded and now that there are so many people around, and houses built it can be a challenge to get a parking spot. Its a beautiful lake though and everyone should visit the nearby Donner Memorial Museum at least once to learn the history of the area and the Donner Party.
Beautiful views the train runs along the ridge above and the views make awsome pictures, the sunrises and sunsets can be spectacular. The clear cold water is refreshing on hot days can be a little numbing on cooler days even with a wetsuit, good fishing certain times of year. There is a boat launch. Paddleboarding is a fun thing to do along with kayaking or canoes but the busy days theres too many motorized boats making wakes. Theres not alot of parking so when it gets busy people block roads and driveways where they shouldnt park. They should be mindful of the locals who take care of this place year round. Its very clean please keep it that way. There are bathrooms and trash receptacles all over so please if you visit too clean up and leave it like you found it.
I liked Lake Donner. Super cold water, but also transparent, quiet, immersed in natural beauty. And we had a nice family picnic here.
It was a nice little spot, not too difficult to get to water access.
The view is breathtaking the water is crystal clear very nice place to meditate and clear your mind
Really small park but a great place to dip into Donner Lake. Porta potties still closed when I went last week.
Beautiful lake. Great place to enjoy nature
I visit this place few times in a year. Nice, clean and beautiful.
We had a nice little outing right by the water with shade and a picnic table
Gorgeous views, never too crowded
We had a great stay. Lots of wildlife and friendly people
Great location. Small ramp for SUP/KAYAK, etc. Picnic tables, parking lot, and street parking. Public restroom that altho is not pretty, is very clean. Lots of shade. Floating dock you can swim to for laying in the sun. Very casual, simpler & easier than going to the State beach. Clean, ample trash bins, and great spots to fish. We took our 3 yo for a picnic and it was very easy!
Very private location .loved it
Great place to launch a kayak. Note that for now bathroom locked for covid
My first time it was just beautiful .
You wont like it if your from the bay
Easily accessible, peaceful, places to enter to the lake for kayaking/swimming, views of the whole lake, picnic tables available for lunch, shaded, etc. Will return again and again
Really nice, pretty much perfect. Water was a little cold but surprisingly warm and wonderfully refreshing.
Love the sunset from here
Nice small beach! Great for kids.
QIs a great place for time to relax with your family and friends. You can see all the seasons in 1 day.
Nice spot to stop and hang out or picnic or lunch a small boat or kayak
Love Shoreline Park. It is serene, peaceful, quiet and has plenty of shade, has BBQ grills, picnic tables, and is dog friendly. It is one of my favorite places for R&R. Can sit here all day enjoying the scenic mountain views and watching the various water sports. The lake is beautiful with very clear water. Will be coming here more often. Weekends are usually more crowded so come early.
Really great view.
Was fun but really cold no fish but cant catch if if ur not in the water
This is a nice place to drop off to have a BBQ lunch. Very quiet and peaceful. Would recommend.
Beautiful
Lots of public area. Good parking. Public floating dock. Great launch for SUPs.
Beautiful place to relax.
This is a great place to stop and play in the snow with kids. They have small slopes for sleds in winter and public restrooms year round. Plenty of all size parking spots. Eva and big rigs
Really nice place
Tahoe! Need I say more
This is a great place to launch your SUPs, a nice gently downslope from the parking area to the ramp. There is no vehicle access to the ramp though, its only for non-motorized watercraft. There are restrooms, trash bins and picnic tables at this spot too. Lots of people like to fish here. Its not the most scenic part of the lake for paddling, but its free and easy access!
Nice place, no weeds
A cool spot to check out.
Nice spot. Couple tables, perfect view. Restrooms closed.
Small but really cool spot for dogs. One of the very few spots on Donner Lake where dogs are allowed
Water was warmer than we expected! Beautiful place for a picnic!
One of my favorite places on Donner Lake. Great for letting puppies swim, picnics, barbecue and loading kayaks.
East end Donner Lake, dog friendly!
Beautiful, cold in the winter, and a little small. But a great place
