Its an awesome spot to visit any time of day. I find it best at sunrise. Great view of the summit and Donner lake. You can even get a glimpse of the town of Truckee.

Get off I 80 and drive through the real Donner Pass. This will take you to the Donner Summit Bridge. Park, check out the Donner Lake overlook, then take a walk over the Donner Summit Bridge.The views are amazing, and its an easy detour.

We come here often. The views are always amazing and the weather usually is good. The pacific crest trail is where i took this picture from. Lots of hikes around here.

An incredible bridge with amazing views of the Sierra Mountain range and of Donner Lake. There is a formal parking lot area next to the bridge allowing for easy access to the bridge and a great place to enjoy the view and scenery.

Yet to get that perfect sunset in this spot. Will visit again.Many sking, snowshoeing, rock climbing and abandoned train tunnel hiking opportunities at this point. Or can just sit and watch Donner Lake.Limited parking but never had issue finding parking here in my 4 visits.

Holy nuts! The sunrises from up here with the hovering fog above the lake are unreal. A perfect place to watch the sunrise or scope out a hike on the surrounding peaks. Great climbing nearby as well with some awesome intermediate pitches.

The long way around is worth the trip when it’s clear with light clouds on a sunny day! Take it slow and easy though; more than a couple blind switchbacks and lots of 35mph speed limits through town.

Stop for a minute in the sideroad parking and prepare to be wowed by the landscape! Time for pictures!

Good overseight over Donner lake. Lots of possibilities of climbing around it. Starting from very easy up to very hard. Had a good, but fairly easy climb there during my trip. Just ask climbers around for Infos on cracks and lines. Camping also possible. Bridge itself, well its a nice looking bridge ;D

The area is very picturesque. Well worth a stop if youre in the area.

Beautiful scenery, wonderful hiking and spectacular view of Donner Lake and the valley below. Make sure to do the Donner Pass Summit Tunnel Hike nearby, that is a truly unique and spectacular experience through an impressive series of old abandoned railroad tunnels, snow sheds and two Chinese Walls!!

I always try to stop here on my way to North Shore lake Tahoe. Take the old Highway 40 and you will be rewarded with this wonderful view.

Such a beautiful spot. When the train goes by it reminds you of 1840s. Then just turn to your left and youll see all the rock climbers. Ill bring you back to reality

Fun quick stop if youre taking the long way up or down the mountain. Really stunning views, and a couple of placards for those who like to read ;) There was still a bit of snow around in late June

This is a drive worth taking because the view from the old historic road is fantastic. You just want to sit there for an hour and take in what God has given us to enjoy. So take a little extra time from your drive and see it for your self.

Grab yourself an early morning coffee and make your way up the Donner Pass Road to catch the sunrise from this truly enchanted location!

Seems like a favorite spot to film car commercials in NorCal. Great views of Donner Lake and Mt. Rose with lots of great rock climbing close by. Driving along this road to the bridge is a glimpse into our recent paste where people got in the car to enjoy the ride. Worth the stop.
