The science exhibits were well designed and educational. Throughout the day, curators show reptiles to the kids detailing their background and interesting facts. However, some of the activities are worn, missing pieces or not maintained. Nice place to visit to get out of the house and have your kids learn.
The childrens museum is a very nice place to bring your child between the age of 2 + 9. They have a lot of Hands-On activities and the staff there are very pleasant. You could probably get there through the whole place with your children in an hour and a half.
Small museum with activities/options for kids of a variety ages (2 - 11, Id say). I brought my 2 year old here and she loved it--the sensory room, rubber band wall, and giant color brite board were her favorite exhibits. It is small, as I said before, so if youre going just to look around then your visit will be over in about 30 minutes or so. Most of the exhibits are interactive though, so if your child loves hands-on activities, I could see them being kept occupied for hours. Overall a decent little museum, and it was nice to see that they were in the process of renovating and adding exhibits. Please note that they will not let you in if you do not have a child with you (this is for the safety of the kids).
While all ages can appreciate it, its geared about 10 to 14 year olds. Many exhibits have pretty detailed reading at that age level. Lots of room and not that noisy even on Saturday
A small STEM museum with a lot of heart! This space feels small, but they do a lot with what they have. Theres some nature exhibits with live animals, some interactive play exhibits, some building exhibits, and frequently theres events and activities put on by the very kind, very dedicated staff. We went to the free New Years Noon event and it was a ton of fun. Face painting, animal shows, and several crafts made the party very special. Definitely check their Facebook page for updates on events.Parking is a dedicated lot and very easy. Restrooms are clean and neat. We like it here, but because weve experienced all the regular exhibits, we would only come back for a special event.
There is a lot to do even with toddlers and the space is manageable so they can roam around while you follow them. Wish the area was brighter with more color especially in the winter.
Hello Katlean is very friendly and accommodating. But I was informed by the day manager adults must be accommodate by a children. It a rules . That I was not offended by . But very disappointed to explore and recommend this Museum. Public to pay 8.00 for cost. While you where enjoy your day. It should be posted on site. Parents did not look offend by present. I even laugh with another mom and boys getting in canoes. Smile laughter. I am confidant mom and grandchildren 7. But mine grew up for this ages group. Toddlers and kindergartners age group perfect. Katlean 10 plus . you have very polite and special.
What a sad place. Not well maintained, dirty and small places for animals. Paid premium entry fees for nothing fun.
Pretty nice place my son definitely enjoyed himself
Nice and cool place. Not a lot of exhibits yet kids lived it.
I Love this place! I went with a Groupon last year with my 5y/o during a break and have been back here for her 6th birthday party and a scouting event! Im 35 and I would spend my day here building by myself. Too bad you have to have kids with you... Oh well! We will be back bc we learn so much, have fun and get to see the world in different ways. Great for a rainy day or to let your kids explore when theyre bored.
Amazing! Animal show every afternoon at 2 plus an interactive childrens museum....ONLY $5 each!! Also offer a family membership for $80 a year. Super bargain if you take your kids multiple times!
Ill tell you right off the bat, if I didnt have a GROUPON, I would felt like this visit was a complete wast of money. When we got there it was nice and quiet, only a few other families were there. My kids were able to navigate the stations.About an hour into our visit, there was a large summer camp that came in and were very disruptive. Running and screaming. The counselors were making me and my kids very uncomfortable, all they did was yelled at the kids the entire time there. The groups of kids were everywhere and my kids just didnt want to be there any more. We left with a not so pleasant tase in our mouth.I wish before we entered for the day that we were told that a summer camp was coming in soon, because I wouldve come back another day.Even if the campers werent there, there wasnt much to keep my kids attention for more then 2 hours. My youngest kept asking is this everything?Wouldnt recommend, even this white bunny didnt want to be there.... Poor guy.
Loved going here as a kid and I still love it! Good memories.
My toddler loves this place. We had so much fun exploring!
Great place to spend time with kids on a cold day. My kids loved this place.
Fun hands on museum. A little dirty ( floor, fish tanks, glass)
More for the younger kids which it states in the description. But all and all it was interactive and the staff was friendly and hands on with each station for the kids. They gave us some free passes simply because my kids were raised right and cleaned up after themselves so I’d recommend for kids under 12 as a day trip or learning adventure.
Nice childrens museum, perfect for under age 10 and good for about 2 1/2 hours if you help your children to interact with some of the exhibits. If you just let your kids run through you will be done in half that time. Museum looks a bit worn and the animal area was about 3/4 full and the glass really needed cleaning. Friendly staff and reasonable price.
Great place to let the kids explore. Great animal exhibate.
The entry fee is a little high, but their exhibits are engaging and highly varied. This one is much more centered on Science and Technology than other Childrens Museums weve been to recently, but that makes total sense given the name. We learned about dinosaurs, the stars, wind turbines, magnets, built structures with nuts and bolts, designed our own wall size marble drop and Lite-Brite. There were also some lizards/snakes, and we were just in time for their feeding. I highly recommend going at least once. Plan at least 2 hours if you want to take your time with each exhibit.
Its a good place to bring kids.. Just not teens but we made it fun for them.
Our older and younger little ones can both find plenty to do for the entire afternoon. Crafts, animals, and lots of hands on play. Weve gone back already and will continue to do so.
It needs more interactive activities. Montshire should be a reference.
We had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back!
The Museum needs maintenance. The glass displays are very dirty, as well as the aquarium. Everything appears to be in disarray. Staff was not available to answer questions. I expected a better experience for my granddaughter and I.
Was alright. I have a toddler so she doesnt have much of an attention span. We usually manage to kill a couple of hours at childrens museums but at this one we were all done and ready to leave in 30 mins. Small and some of the exhibits were geared towards olders kids. Saw a few birthday parties being held there.
At first glance I didnt think my boys would have a lot fun here, but everything us hands on. They had to learn how to play again, and it was awesome to watch. Had a great time!
Lots of great activities, science, physics and engineering are easily explained for children in a very engaging way.
Could have been the time of year but just wasnt what I was expecting from a childrens based museum. Fish tanks were obviously not taken care of either but there was plenty for the kids to do.
Its a cool place to bring children and its exciting for them to learn things. But I bought a solar-powered robot from them and it hasnt worked at all.
My 3 year old grandson loved it! Its just the right size, and secured with only children and their adults, so that he could go from activity to activity, exploring and creating. He loved the activity with the museum staff and campers, making a tin foil boat and trying to float it. Hes asked to go back several times, and I plan to to take him frequently.
The place is small yet functional. We went there for a birthday party and my 3 yr old son was excited to.pet animals. Since it was winter some of the sections were not prepared for the exhibit. However my son hadso much fun with variety of co genitive activities there. I will definitely go back. It is totally worth the price.
Fun for kids ... Interactive ... Ok if adult try :)
Very nice place. Great for childrens
The kids (5&7) loved all of the activities
Excellent! Lots to do. Had a great time with my 7 year old son.
Brought my nephew here hidden gem for the kids the children seemed to really enjoy themselves there filled with learning animals and activities birthday parties available
Able to watch my 5 yrs old become fascinated with: buildings, science, animals, solar power, etc. Such a wonderful local resource!
We DID NOT feel welcomed there at all! The place itself is small, not well-maintained, a lot of dirt, a lot of toys that were broken and were not going to be fixed any time soon, but thats not what bothered us so much its how we were treated. Several people in a very short period of time made sure to let us know that we were not wanted (like, for example, my child was rudely told not to touch this and that and they even could take an object (like a bubble wand) out of his hand and say to us that it was not for everybody, etc. and other nonsense).
This museum is small but has so many awesome exhibits. We started going when my son was around 2.5 and he loved the hands on displays even then, and as he gets older he can do more and more. Hes 4 now and his favorite part is the building room!
Great place to bring young kids and do a bit of hands on learning. Wish there were more activities or exhibits.
My young kids have a great time here. The price is great and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend a visit.
I absolutely love it here and so my girls. We have been a few times and each time spend about 2 hours. Its very affordable and very kid friendly. They always have something to do. I highly recommend
My god son had his birthday party here over the weekend, it was so much fun for the kids and they learned about dinosaurs, got to pet a bearded dragon & dig for fossils which were actually little toy dinosaurs! Lots of fun, educational activities for the kids to do & everyone had a great time!
This is a great place to take your kids. Lots of hands on displays to play with and learn from. My daughter has fun everytime we come.
My boy is 2 years and 4 months and loved every second!
Museum exhibits meets creative educational play space for little children. My three old can spend hours here interacting w the exhibits and making up imagination games in their play areas.
Brought my son here and he had a blast with all of the interactive exibits.
Great place to take childrenThey have a real owl, bunny. Fish and other animals. Lots of interactive displays.
Good to go at least one time
Presents science in a fun way for young children
My daughter loves this museum. It only has one entrance/exit so very safe. Lots of hands on activities.
Scientific fun for kids. Kids loved it!
Builders paradise
Awesome place for kids . Lot of activities and learning for them. It was next to impossible to get them out of there.
Perfect for a 2 year old on a rainy day. A lot of interactive exhibits that the whole family can enjoy. We even got to pet a snake! Cost less than $20 and spent about 2 hours there.
It is pretty cool. However, its also pretty small. We paid $20 for family of 4 (2 kids, 12 yrs old and 4 years old); the 12 year old was kinda bored, the 4 year old really liked it. Theres a magnetic ball track wall at the end, which engaged the 12 year old. It goes in a circular pathway, and its not too big. Kinda neat for a quick stop, I cant see spending more than an hour there.
Its small but full of knowledge and fun. Definitely recommended for younger children but my older ones had a great time as well.
Great affordable place to take kids. Very hands on, educational, & entertaining. Granddaughters aged 2 & 5 had a blast. Highly recommend!!
This is a great place for kids to explore and learn. Birthdays are especially great here with interactive learning.
Always a great place to visit. My daughter and I have visited many times. They have many different STEM based activities throughout the day.
Great place for learningTake your kids or grands
Fairly small but not too crowded. Some fun construction/building activities, giant chalk board wall, and interactive learning sessions where kids can see and touch various small animals. Our 5, 3, and 1 year-old kids all had a good time for a couple of hours and admission was free with a Boston Childrens Museum membership.
Perfect for the curious and creative!
My 2 and 4 year old had a great time, lots to do and live animal displays.
Everything is accessible and at kid level. Great for varied ages. Birthday party package was a great mix of free time in museum and structured activities. It isnt huge but definitely worth the visit.
Excellent place for children to learn
Great exhibits, wonderful staff, and interesting educational shows. I would definitely visit again ... the only thing I would change is to have more directed shows with the children, opposed to the child - led route the shows seem to take. Overall, a great place to go!
It seems that this was once an interesting place for kids but now it is in great need of attention. The river exhibit tanks were so dirty that you couldnt see the wildlife, the hands on activities were in disarray and missing pieces, etc. I was very disappointed.
Great place to bring kids on a rainy day
5 and 7 year-end old grandkids had a great time, especially with the building room and the magnetic wall for constructing a ball run. Also enjoyed the live reptiles, bugs and fish. We adults enjoyed the displays of Native American regional tribes, and the different ecosystems along the Hudson. Also playing with the kids!
Wonderful first time experience. Hands on kids activities kept the kids busy for hours. And the admittance price was unbelievably low!
Almost everything is hands on, nice little presentations regularly through the day, range of different things to view. Very nice construction toys in amphitheater. But it is very small. Repeat visits will be based on special events.
A great place for small kids to keep him occupied and to keep some adults occupied 2, I do miss The star observatory the used to have but unfortunately machine broke and its expensive to replace it ...perhaps some funding can replace the machine
Awesome museum with many engaging exhibits for young children. Great way to spend an afternoon or a birthday. Staff are helpful, guiding, and patient with kids.
My kids had a really great time. Friendly staff.
Went with my grandchildren and daughter, and my daughters friend and her child. It was fun, but the fish tanks are filthy, the cages needed cleaned and all the animals, reptiles, etc needed fresh water.Felt sorry for the living creatures that reside there.
Nice experience, but its relatively small, so a small crowd can really fill the space. Nice to see the kids interact though.
I feel terrible for the animals. Their cages are beyond filthy and some seem scared to death. I love seeing and watching wildlife and this place breaks my heart.
Love this museum. It is a hands on experience for the children. There is so much to do and children are encouraged to touch and play with all exhibits.
Great place for kids. Lots of hands on experiences to keep kids engaged. Staff has periodic show and tell times throughout the day including the touching of live snakes!
Always have a great time. Went for a field trip for my sons preschool and the workers were wonderful with teaching the kids
Cute little childrens museum. Kind of small, but that works well for younger kids who dont have the energy for bigger museums. My nephew spent the entire time saying woah! and wow! to all the exhibits- he especially liked the waterfall and the fish exhibits. The staff was very friendly. Also very affordable- a nice place to spend the afternoon.
Its nice, weve been here like 3 times and were a hour away. Staff are very freindly!! I say 4** because the bigger the better and its not really that big. I live in a tiny town a hour away from anything, so when we go places I like to stay till opening till closing which you cant do. It takes 2 1/2hrs top, if you stetch it out or havent been there prior to go through. Well be back though, just have to find other activities to do when we go.
Great for the kids- maybe 7 and under crowd. Small, but 2 levels and many different rooms. Of course you have to walk through the shop to enter and leave, but distraction works.
On the small side, but our child had a lot of fun. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.
Good place for kids everything is hands on
Great experience for the kids. Loved the magnetic wall and Otis the screech owl
Loved the atmosphere. Could work in a better way to keep kids interested!
Very small can walk through and do everything in there in less then 30 minutes
Nice place for kids to visit and learn. Some of the aquariums need to be cleaned quite badly. And some need occupants.
Great place to take your little ones! There is something for every kid.
Its small, but dont let that put you off. Its excellent, hands on and very informative
Really small. I would have been upset if I didnt have free tickets. Not worth the price of admission. My daughter and her friend were bored and we were there for only 40 minutes
Grandchildren ages 8 and 14 loved it.
My 2 year old likes to see the small animals and fish. They also have various hands on games, puzzles, and toys for children to use.
Great place with many activities yet not an overwhelming size for young children!
Great spot to spend a few hours for $5 a person.
