So they are open ! Yeah. Been closed good to see it back. Went there to skate hoping for the best. Well after being closed all that time perhaps they might clean...no the wall are still black with dust! Don’t tell me u can’t afford it. Soap and water cheap. Vacuum the carpet walls. If they treat the facility so poorly I can assure u that protocols too not being followed. Several people skating with masks around their necks. Ick nasty dirty filthy. As my mom said soap and water is cheap! Called the environmental health and services dept of Oakland county. Hope you get a visit soon!

This place Rocks! The floor is HUGE and the staff keep the place Clean! They offer rental skates in regular, quad speed skates as well as inline skates. Adult night is twice a week! Which is fabulous because it’s geared to Adults and you don’t have to worry about tripping over children or getting run over by kids going every which way on the floor. They check ID at the door to make sure a teenager is 18! AND They have several DJs so the music is always Rockin’ & Funky! If you are looking for a fantastic group of friends to hang out with then THIS is the place!

I had a blast hanging out here with a bunch of my friends. The arcade games are fun, and the skating is fun too. However, the Pizza was terrible. The pizza was stuck to my plate, and when I got it off, I took one bite and regretted it. The staff were pretty nice and the floors were clean. I would come again.

Highly do not recommend going here. The staff is very rude to its customers and the place is not clean. A person working in the food court was touching the pizza with there hands without gloves.

Went here for a fund raiser. It was really fun and had a great time!

The best skate place ever !

I wish the floor guards were a little better at their job. When skating here youre constantly on guard dodging the kids going the wrong direction and no adults around to tell them the right thing to do. Saturday afternoons have the best mix of current artists. Sunday is more disco and rap.

Kids have fun, need a bit of an upgrade but in the same it is not costly.

Its a nice place and they really cater to the kids to ensure they have a good time. My 10 yr old niece had her birthday party there. My family went to the Saturday afternoon session 1PM-5PM. During that time its a lot of families; young kids and their parents.I didnt care for the food. The nachos were stale.

Took my kids here on Friday for Teen night. They are pretty strict on who is coming in and if you are skating or not. They pretty good about patrolling around and checking on the kids. We had a Groupon deal which was nice. The rink is a pretty big which allowed tons of kids to skate at the same time and not be too crowded. They music is plenty loud but still bearable and they pretty cool lights. People were wearing skates and rollerblades. My kids enjoyed themselves and that was the important thing. Id bring them back.

I love Roller Skating, I suck but I love it and its an immense amount of fun! Love the rink! Its clean and the staff are nice!

Facilities need refurbishment, but it is the all around skate we all remember... And a lot of the same music . Enjoyed the place, might come back.

Fun place with friendly staff. The prices are more than fair even if you need rental skates. The skates, even though a bit worn, worked well and were kept clean. They have a decent little arcade for the kids, and a snack bar that is pretty good for what it is.The skate floor was clean and well kept. They even have little games every-so-often for the kids to win prizes. Nice place overall, I just wish more people went skating again. Good clean fun.

How y’all gonna say y’all open at 5pm then we arrive you’re workers are coming at 6:30 and wait till 8 pm for the other session. Get it together.

Skating at Skate World is dangerous during nights open to teens. They happen to be the same nights most working adults have available for fun, but they are not fun at Skate World. They do not monitor the floor and allow the teens to run into other skaters with no repercussions. In spite of skating around the perimeter at a decent pace, I was knocked down TWICE by teens who were weaving in and out of the crowds AND cutting off all patrons. I also witnessed them running into small ones who were hanging onto the side railings. I brought this to the attention of management and they said Well it is Teen Night and we recommend skaters be 11 to 18. What?? Why?? So the 11 year olds can end up with a concussion too? Completely unacceptable. Youve been warned.

Management is unreasonable, disrespectful and unprofessional. I called 5 times prior to booking to clarify full details of booking for a private charity/ birthday event and each time they tried to sell me on a cheap booking rate to charge extra per person. AFTER I BOOKED THE PARTY, they rudely informed me that I can’t bring a cake, DJ, or photo booth!! To make it worse, I went into the venue to speak with the general manager and she was completely unreasonable and refunded my deposit 2 days before the party! If they would’ve refunded my money I probably would’ve sued for discrimination. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BOOKING THIS VENUE FOR ADULT PRIVATE EVENTS.

As far as the rink itself I have nothing deleterious to say. It is a well maintained space with surprisingly impeccable flooring for its age. The other areas are also in fairly mint condition for the most part. Really it seems to me that the most dangerous things here are the other customers whom do not seem to care about others, few they may be.The food court was extremely packed as there were a few large parties here and the wait for refreshments was over 30 minutes. Their vending machine was completely empty and would not return the money inserted.That said the lower score comes from the lack of a response by the staff to a young child gone missing from the rink. I reiterate, not a slow response, nor a simple acknowledgement, NO response. That to me is inexcusable. As such until I hear that they have properly trained their staff to respond to this not uncommon situation, I will not take a young child here. Teenagers would be fine as most of them are tied to their phones and can be contacted.Safety should be the first priority.

We visited here yesterday using a Groupon I had purchased recently. The Groupon covered skating and skate rental. I havent been roller skating in years, a fact of which my body kindly reminded me. Nevertheless, my son and I had a blast! They occasionally play games to keep things interesting and all levels are out on the floor. We didnt use the arcade or concession stand, but did notice them. Overall, I would highly recommend this as a fun activity and place to visit.

Nice rink, skates leave much to be desired. As long as you pay thats all they care about, skates pull and push and leave hotspots. I tried several size 12 and no luck. Looking for a better place to take the kids.

I took my kids to meet some friends, I use to go here all the time as a kid myself & loved it. What a difference a few years can make. Nothing but a bunch of rude, uncontrolled, ghetto fabulous kids there now! At the end of the night they started fights with everyone they could. Even the lady who owns/runs the place was involved, she knew who the trouble makers are & still let them in. I would/ will never recommend go to this place

Customer service was good, but for a party reservation we should have reserved seating for the party guest. The food(pizza) was cold hard & old. But the manager Jenny did a great job. I would return but not with a party reservation, only to walk in.

Tonight was my first time skating again in over 11 years. I went to the Sunday night adult skate and it was great! Very friendly staff and patrons. Very welcoming! LOTS of people! The music was good and they played some old school jams too, which brought back great memories of skating in my early years. There are some very talented skaters that attend on Sunday. That is reason enough to go just to watch them! Ill be returning! Very fun night!

Went here with a group of friends on a Sunday. We all assumed that they would have at least some food available at the snack bar, but it was totally closed even though it was quite busy. We tried to get drinks out of the vending machine but it wouldnt take our money. Some of the skaters were weaving in and out of people quite dangerously and even flew past me while I was exiting the rink itself. Make sure you bring quarters for the lockers and a couple extra dollars if you want line skates!

My kids and I enjoyed visiting this place. The skating ring is large and the floor is nicely maintained. The place could use a little update, but otherwise it is a wonder for a family to get away from the world of computers, tablets and phone and get some exercise.

Our new go to spot. Just wish they would play a better variety of music.

Well you can’t beat free skating on a Monday! I was prepared to use my Groupon that I had bought and expired but I guess we didn’t need to use it since today was free.We were either all really rusty or those skates were on some major rollers. We could barely skate but had a good time regardless. The staff there was really nice and accommodating. The shoe rental lady even tried to come out and show us how to skate when she saw we had troubles.Yes the place is a little outdated and roller skates old but adds to the charm. It’s a little far for me so I’m not sure when I’ll be heading back but good to know I have options.

The staff never seems to be friendly and I always have to change my skates about three to four times. They have the worst rental skates.

This was our first family skating event and our experience with the entire staff was horrible. The entire staff from the front door to the skate rental had bad attitudes! As we enter in the place stink. We will never patronize skate world of troy!!!

Need to play a little bit better music

This is such a cool retro place to bring kids and adults of all ages. Except for babies I think everyone likes to share their falling experiences while skating. The awesome lighting and disco balls makes this place even more attractive. Also they gave so many arcade games and a nice prize booth. Theyre is also a nice small cafeteria in case you get hungry for nachos or pizza or just an Icee. My teen tween and my better half and I ask enjoyed this place alot! Nice staff by the way too!!

I am very dissapointed. We went at 5:45 because the website said they opened at 5:15. They were closed and when I called, the recording said they said they didnt open until 7:30. My 8yr old was very dissapointed.

Sad to say Sunday night music is just terrible..Super Bowl night they had a partyit was the lamest party I have ever seen and I dont think you could play music from the last 40 years that was worse. I mean this stuff had no beat to follow..My girlfriend I I like lots of stuff old and new. They never announced the score for the game or did anything Superbowl related..They could have played music from the half time shows for the past 25 years or get a DJ that has a clue..This guy has to be Tone be deaf..If you cant get people in there 30s and 40s who are open to lots of music options you will never get a new younger crowd to come to adult nights..Next year dont use the words. Super Bowl Party if u repeat this format.

Skate World is easy to find and has parking. There are bathrooms, vending machines and a snack bar . Their is a floor monitor on the rink and first aid is available . Lines move fairly quickly and they have some organized games and prizes.

Always enjoy skating at Skateworld, its family friendly!

Always a good time with the family here. Friendly staff, clean and well kept rink and admission doesnt cost you an arm and a leg. Some of the rental skates could use a little maintenance but thats the only bad thing Ive ever had to say about the place.

I would not recommend this place at all! The staff is extremely rude. My granddaughters birthday party was an experience that we will not ever forget. They only give 30 minutes of kids and guests to eat, have cake, and open gifts. They will not allow extra time. We had to move to concession area to open gifts, then at 4:45 they told us the are was now closed and we needed to leave.We had an entire pizza left over, when asked to have something to wrap it with, they took their time getting foil while we stood at the counter. One of the girls totally ignored the request. When they finally got us the foil they just threw it down for us to handle.Money was spent at this facility, however we will not spend anymore there ever! There are other skating places that respect and appreciate their customers.Would never recommend to anyone.

This middle aged woman was so disrespectful. The staff was so rude to my son and I because they were going to close in 30 minutes. Before we arrived to the door an employee shouted Can I help you? I had no problem that it was too late to skate but the way she said it and rolled her eyes to the younger employee next to her, the young girl laughed to the old employee and shook her head like I was out of line. I am polite and know my place I feel I didn’t deserve to be treated this way just trying to enjoy time with my son after work. Their attitudes were so gross and such a turn off, we will never try this place out.

Ive been going to skate world ever since 2nd grade always been a fun place. However in recent years I havent gone as much due to completing high school and being busy. This last time time I went with my girlfriend all was good until we went to buy an arcade prize. A blow up guitar for $3 is what I bought using a $10 bill. I found it extremely odd that when given back change I only received 3 $1 bills for an item that costs $3. I asked the tender how much the guitar was 2 times and got the same answer 2 times, $3. It wasnt until I had to tell her it was a $10 bill I gave her, of which I could tell she looked annoyed and ended up giving me back the proper change of $7. Its one thing if your change is a few cents off but not $4 when I hand you $10 and only get $3 change for a $3 item. I work in food service so I get it we have busy days at work but it just seems a little suspicious to me especially when given the body language of darn he noticed. Id also like to point out the price on the drawer of the inflatables where the cashier pulls it from is different than the price which is labeled on the corresponding display product on the actual shelf. Both of these make me a little suspicious about whats going on or whos running what. I could have brought it up to a manager but my girl and I were tired so we left. Maybe Im wrong in this whole deal but it doesnt matter how good your service or establishment is when you cant be honest and up front with your customers who basically make your business possible.

Was a great place to skate until my daughters wheel fell off her rented skates resulting in her falling. The attendant didnt seem to care. Also the kitchen ran out of pizza while hosting an event knowing they would have double the customers, most with coupons for slices of pizza.

I had a horrible experience. Security was hassling me and my friends about our clothing but others were inside with much worse thing on. I was also verbally harassed. Never will I ever return. I DO NOT recommend this place.

My kids have loved this place for years! As a parent, I think a comfy coffee cafe would have been nice. Great place for parties, safe for teens. Great exercise!

I LOVED the skating surface, very nice. Music was good. The one skate rental guy was older and seemed very knowledgeable. The rental guys also seemed to serve as rule enforcers on the rink. The young man was fun to watch skate and I am sure all the young ladies like him. The older dude was REALLY a skilled skater! Wow!

The place itself is very nice. The staff is not very nice. They have a dress code that is wprse than a public schools dress code. They have kicked myself and others out for things like wearing a tank top, having their back show too much in a romper, showing any form of cleavage, and wearing a crop top with high waisted jeans. This is just a heads up if you are planning to go there make sure you are wearing a burqa.

Went here for a b day party and it was nice. Kids had a blast. Love the games where u can win prizes. The game room is small but fun. The pizza was not good at all. Kids love pizza and I couldnt get my kids to eat any of it. Yhe music they played was awesome along with the friendly games they played on the skate floor. The staff was very nice and helpful.

All the staff was decent and friendly, easy to get skates and food. The lockers werent reliable and I lost 50 cents on one as it didnt open. Overall pretty good and would certainly go again, good for nonexperienced skaters

Took my son here for a birthday party. Very nice rink.

As a parent, Im very upset that they treated my son so rudely because he didnt feel like skating, They made him leave the building immediately. After they collected $13 for admission/skate rental! He told admission he wasnt going to skate and they said he still had to buy the rentals tho. Then an older lady with black hair started yelling at him loudly to skate or leave now. He was so embarrassed! Needless to say, none of my kids will be returning there.

This rink was ok. The rink is huge! This is probably the biggest I have seen. The music was just OK. I wish they had the skate helpers available to rent for the younger children.

Kids enjoyed their experience rollerblading and roller skating. Still has the carpeting on the walls from 1975. Fun atmosphere, Skate World could definitely do better at washing hand rails and walls. Skate floor is in good shape, rental skates are hit or miss, 3rd pair worked ok.

Wow this place is a throw back to the 80s and 90s. Bright wall colors, dim lights, old leather skates, discount carpets. The smells even bring back memories of 1980s rollerskate birthday parties. Cowabunga!

I havent been here since I was a kid, but I recently came back to check it out again as an adult, and almost everything is exactly as I remembered it! I brought my cousin along and we had a great time. The only issues were the somewhat loose rental skates I got (the buckle locks towards the bottom didnt work very well and kept popping open), and many of the lockers will simply eat your quarters and not work at all (do NOT trust them with any valuables). However, the skating itself was great! I think I would come back more often if I had my own pair of rollerblades to use instead of the rentals.

Nicest facility there is for roller skating! We love it and go weekly, sometimes twice in a week!They have strict rules in place for good reasons! Clearly some of the reviews are from some entitled people who think a business has no right to have safety rules and policies in place not to mention cant listen to what they are informed of when booking their day.Keep up the good work SWOT!

Pros: Large facility, polite staff, lots to do.Cons: We went 8-11 pm on Sat 2/10 and the music was awful. Hardcore rap & club songs that were unsuitable for the under 18 crowd and definitely NOT skating music!Also, the lack of supervision on the floor led to a lot of loitering and some unsafe skaters.SKIP this place and spend your money elsewhere if you want a family-friendly atmosphere until they get these problems fixed.

My daughter goes almost every weekend with her friends. Good way to keep them out of trouble and off the streets. Generation to generation have gone to skate world myself included. And is also a great first job for those teenagers to help them learn about the workforce. Great place to go!!!!!

This is my favorite rink. If you just love skating and want a large, smooth, friendly rink, this is the place. I go to adult skates, and there are always lots of other passionate skaters there. The music gets a little stale sometimes, but I bring my own music so its not a problem. Overall Id highly recommend it to anyone who loves to skate.

Other than the last behind the window at the entrance being a but rude when I arrived for my kids school event, skate world is just how I remember when I was a kid. Its fun and the arcade helps with keeping all the kids satisfied since some arent the best skaters.

Pretty much much what you expect from any skating rink. Went twice this weekend and it was pretty the same as it was a decade ago. The only problem i had was being asked to take my hat off when i entered...no big deal as it was a rule. During skating i noticed a few people with head phones, air buds, and bandanas on. If my hat was an issue how was wearing any of these any better?? Kinda bothered me but again, whatever.The biggest issue was the music...it was either 70s or todays R&B hits with little in between. For more than a few songs that were actually tolerable, the songs were cut short or overlapped askew. Kids weaving in and out and cutting across the floor was also an issue but skate gaurds apparently didnt notice.My hat was safe in the locker so i guess the biggest problems were solved.

Best skating rink in the area!! So much fun for ALL ages! Loved here as a kid/teen myself. Now my kids love it here too!

It was a good experience however the place is outdated and there was a bucket in the middle of where we are expected to skate. It was pretty obstructing, it took up a large Amount of space. I don’t know if it’s the best option in the are but for a Wednesday night it was a fun night out with a few friends.
