The Commons is a great place to visit, and these trails bordering it were wonderful. Creek running through entire area, couple little waterfalls, well marked. I was doubtful, but The Hippie Trees are actually pretty magical. Short loops, long trails, hilly but not difficult, something for everyone. Highly recommend.
This is such a treasure for the city. The grounds of this historic site are beautiful and include wooded trails, a botanical garden, and lots of open green space. The buildings have been and are being restored and renovated into unique living quarters and businesses.
74*F on 11/4/20. Great day to hike around the complex. Perfect blend of hills and flat walking for a great, easy workout!
Beautiful trails, and fairly well kept up. I was a little sad to see all the graffiti, however it didnt detract from the trip and in the case of the cistern added an air of mysticism. Beautiful place.
Pretty nice trails, there are a lot of indiscriminate trails so sometimes its easy to get lost. I think whoever operates it should just make the indiscriminate biking trails official trails. This way there could be less confusion biking would still be supported.
Great trails, signage was not great but paths are fantastic
Great place. Cool buildings. Loved the wedding hall
Great trails! Good mix of difficulties, and gorgeous views.
Beautiful trails, great place to connect with nature.
Nice place to walk and shop cute boutiques, only complaint parking is quite a distance be prepared to walk
Great place to hike right in the middle of Traverse City with easy access to the Grand Traverse Commons shops and restaurants.
Hidden jewel! Though the outside seems a bit plain, they have lot of unique shops and restaurants inside to explore. Feels like walking in a vintage cave. Double white chocolate in their bakery section is good. Good art work on walls. Happened to see only ground floor, and yet loved it!! Must see..!!!
Whether on one of the great trails or just milling around the historic architecture, Grand Traverse Commons and the nature preserve is a wonderful place to be. Hike, take photos, cross country ski, and simply be outdoors. The older, unoccupied buildings are dangerous and there is a lot of broken glass. These buildings are great for photos but not for young children.
Very nice. I planned to visit again
Lots of trails to explore at the Grand Traverse Commons. Rarely ever do the same route twice.
Pretty but tons of garbage to be cleaned up.
Awesome little area
This is such a great place to walk the trails, have a picnic, or browse the gift shop. We especially enjoyed the Fairy Trail, with all the cute little fairy houses along the way! And the gift shop has some of the best nature themed gifts in town.
Could use a little work in some areas that flood but its beautiful, well maintained, clean and if you go to the right place you get THE HIPPIE TREE
Always a pleasure!
The best told other s they should go, its a buck list thing for sure
Its a beautiful small trail. Relaxing for me. I hope you enjoy as much as I do.
Took my cousins here and we went on an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL TRAIL. When you come here you need to check out the Grove of trees and the hippie tree!
Great place to get in some exercise and good views of Traverse City. When you update the map signs though, please make them more user friendly and put them on the posts facing away from the sun. Many of them face south and the sun has bleached the colors of the trails so you cant read the map.
Love this place such beautiful scenery they did a great job keeping the trails and making them better
Beautiful hikes with views of the city and bay.
Very nice tour you can take. It was very interesting.
My fave trails. run, bike, snowshoe. Labyrinthine network provides hours of varying scenery and terrain.
Go see the Hippie Tree
Easy to find, quient in the morning, picks in population density in the afternoon.
Very peaceful and beautiful area to hike
Very interesting place with plenty to see and imagine
Fun place. Got lost finding the hippie tree.
Its so much fun
Beautiful place with history
We have hiked down this trail many times and visited the Hippie Tree as well since it is off the trail at one point.
Great place to hike with littles.
This is a simple hike with several loops that can be taken on foot or on a bike. Notable attractions include an old orchard, several small stream crossings, a nice view of the Traverse City landscape and the hippy tree. While not extremely exciting, these trails do make for decent exercise with several sizeable uphill climbs and are a good way to walk off some calories from the nearby restaurants.
Great hike and beautiful views
