We have enjoyed visiting the art lab many times. Several stations for the kids & kid at heart to get creative. They host parties as well as open creative area with a station that changes regularly. Free parking & free admission. Located in the basement of the Mulvane Art Museum.

My children have always enjoyed going to the art lab and the downstairs area of the Mulvane Art Museum. One side is blocks and Legos and reading, while the large other side has various mediums of arts and crafts. Whether it’s nice and sunny and warm out, cold and rainy, or snowy, this is somewhere fun to take your children for FREE!

Special exhibits are great and the working students are knowledgeable and approachable with balanced level of engagement without being overwhelming or intrusive.

I love the art lab down in the basement. My kiddos enjoyed getting to be creative.

We went for a butterfly event and loved it...downstairs! They had wonderful areas for the children to explore, create, and learn. We loved it. On the main floor we enjoyed the different art and simple machines to create the creative art pieces. However, the top floor was more than a disappointment! There was a poster of a naked Playboy layout. It had NOTHING to do with the exhibit. It wasn’t artistic in the least. It was so out of place that it was laughable. If you have young kids, apparently you have to explore beforehand to make sure they didn’t include PLAYBOY! Ridiculous.

This is such a fun place for the kids! My three love going to the art lab. There are so many different hands on art activities that are offered, and for free! They have a Lego area, places to draw self portraits, paint, color, use blocks, weave, draw like you are in a cave, and many more. It is run by the university, and work study students. We have been several times and every time has been a great experience.

Lacks complexity but features decent material. There is a hint of pop culture in it. But its definitely something to see once for the art alone... Beautiful.

This is great place to go if your child loves to create artwork.

My grandson is 16mos old he has a good time when going. The staff is and displays so much patience with both the parents and kids.

Go to the basement to the Art Lab for children. Its the best kept secret in Topeka. Free and amazing (closed on Mondays).

The staff is always friendly and willing to help. My kids always have a lot of fun creating art at the Art Museum.

Topeka is trying to bring cultural back into the town and Mulvane Art Museum is heading in the right direction.They have a variety of exhibits, some of which features local talent and shows off a lot of the nature that Kansas has to offer.They also have workshops for kids in the basement of the Museum.

The art lab is a place to take kids and maybe enjoy it as much as them! The museum is always great, but the best part is taking the kids to the art lab in the basement and letting them create.

If you have young kids in Topeka, the ArtLab is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Kind of an expensive ticket for not much art to see. But I can see where it would be nice for local artists to get their artwork out there.
