This experience was different from visiting the woods or a park in that you are never very far from busy La Grange Rd, so this isnt a place you can really lose yourself in. That said, just spending a few minutes on the grassy trail and it was absolutely teaming with life. Crickets and other insects were everywhere, birds were everywhere. Wildlife was thriving. If only all unused plots of land could be so carefully protected.

So nice for a walk or bike ride. I think the whole circle is five miles. Not much shade since they took down all the invasive trees to turn it back to native grasslands but there are lots of flowering plants and wildlife

Beautiful place. Very quiet compared to other nature areas with walking trails. That is a plus if youre in need of a nice jog or run without anyone bothering you. People using the trails are very polite and usually greet you.

5 mile paved trail, which is great for hiking, biking, or running. Birds are all over the area, and it seems to be a breezy area. There isnt any shade, so if its a hot and sunny day take the necessary precautions. I hiked it and two miles in, I was feeling the sun. Port o potties are setup along the path, and there are a few areas to bird watch. I do want to take my bike on this one. Looks to be a really smooth ride.

There is a five mile (square) loop here which makes it perfect for walkers, runners, and bikers. Lots of open grassland with a few small lakes, keep your eyes out for the deer and a variety of birds.

How can you give anything less than 5 stars to nature? The outside trail is paved and well maintained. There are other inside trails on the map, but they dont seem to be marked. Perhaps they are seasonal? A very nice place for a walk, run or ride.

This is a beautiful natural area full of birds, deer, coyotes, and other wildlife surrounded by a great multi use trail. This is in the southwest suburb of Orland Park.

ORLAND GRASSLANDS is beautiful with a flatland prairie feel. There is a paved path that wraps around the grassland for walking, biking, rollerblading or running. Not to be confused with a forest preserve with large trees but rather stalky grasses, wildflowers and rolling terrain. This, I believe is a (5 mile) distance start to finish. There is not much shading along route so protective eyewear & hat is necessary, plenty of hydration & sunscreen. The grassland is a different type of beauty. You may see different types of birds and other inhabitants during your journey. There is no admission fee for visiting the grassland.

A paved 5 mile route circumnavigates a beautiful grassy area great for running and biking. A few off-pist trails no more than one mile i believe. Ive also seen many nature watchers

Beautiful! Prairies! Perfect length trail for exercising. Interesting spots to sit and rest. Orland really seems to care about native habitats.

Review №21

Very nice trails! Me, my husband, and our 2yr old daughter had a very good time there today! The trails are spacious, long, and have nice views of ponds and wildlife vegetation. My ONLY complaint, (and Im not sure if this falls into Orland Grassland, or Google Maps), but when we GPSd the place it did not make sense. We couldnt find an entrance or a place to park for the life of us! GPS kept telling us we were there, and it was on a busy road with no entrance. So we ended parking across the street at a CVS and walked over. But after that fiasco is was a nice time lmao.

Beautiful grassland and a great trail for walking, running,or longboarding. One drawback: there is a LOT of animal feces on the trail. Im guessing its mostly from pet dogs, so its annoying to have to look down and watch your feet as you walk.Plenty of wildlife in the grassland! Ive seen birds, deer, coyotes.

I’m from out of town and wanted to go on a hike. This place was the closest. I actually first went to the Orland forest preserve and found no where park. Not sure why there isn’t better signage. I finally found this parking lot to the Orland grassland. Took off and hiked the 5 miles. I had planned to take the short cut however, after inspecting the tall grasses, it was tick city and the path is not cleared out. I got back to my car at 845 and I had a flipping FIFTY DOLLAR citation for being there after sunset. WHAT!!? I didn’t see sign stating fines are enforced. Also I had NO idea I would be back that late because of the tick covered trail that would of cut the time in half. It’s gorgeous there. But everywhere you are in there you hear traffic. Which blows. Save your time and don’t come to this crappy town and if you live here, sorry for ya. Seems like a awful place to live.

Nice place to get your 5 mile hike in...except that there are no trees to offer shade. But the path is nice and paved. They have a couple areas with port-a-potties, which is super helpful. And they have recently installed garbage cans, you know, to help keep the area beautiful.
