This is a good place for a day trip. I havent been here for 20+ years and there are lots of changes. For one, the roads are now paved. You can also rent bikes or get steam tour of the island by the pier. Of course you can also hike the island like me. You will definitely enjoy the great views and history the island had to offer.

Very informative and not crowded at all! The buildings are closed during COVID, but there is plenty to learn and explore outside.

IRONIC !!! Legal immigration in California once required a stop here on your way to citizenship. Today we have streamlined that process and allow people to just come in. Free medicines, healthcare, schools, drivers licenses, vote for government officials, free housing. What more can we do for you? Unfortunately for most of us we could not afford to live here before you came. We struggled and so forth to make it our home. But God Bless America folks, its your home now as I am posting this from Arizona where I just relocated too. A 5,500 square foot home half the price of the one I left there. A new job with more pay and half the taxes I paid in California. I wonder how California is going to survive on just homeless and illegal aliens. Im sure Nancy Pelosi knows, shes one smart cookie that Nancy. Do you not love her. It was so hard to leave her wise leadership behind but Im sure Ill do just fine without Nancy and her fancy anymore.

The Immigration Station on Angel Island is full of history and some great North East views of SF Bay. A lot historical information is shared and memorials for those who immigrated to the US and first arrived at Angel Island.

Good history refresher, reading these plaques. If you have the cash (no credi cards accepted), go inside the museum and check it out.

What people endure to enter the U.S. to escape fascism and despots is unbelievable. Not so much anymore since we have our very own wannabe despot now, but things WILL change and well welcome the disenfranchised once again one day.

What a beautiful place! We had the pleasure of visiting this place and doing the 5 mile hike. Tue view is stunning and it seems like a fun place to bike. We took the ferry from Tiburon. Round trip was $15.00. I would highly recommend this park.

My favorite place on Angel Island. The poignant messages from the detained immigrants from a 100 years ago demonstrate that we may not have made much progress. Take a guided tour to learn the nitty gritty, or a self-guided one if you want more time for photos. Dont use your flash as it wipes out the shadows that make the poetry visible.

From the dock you hike up the trail to to the left (north side of the island), keeping left, you follow the trail and then it leads down to the beach. If you dont want to hike, you can buy a ticket for the tram. Youll walk past some buildings, the main entrance to the station is a white staircase. At the top, you pay a few dollars for admission. You walk through the building and see that this station was for all non-native born for immigration processing. I was under the impression it was for Chinese immigrants, but it actually was for all nationalities. There was a large focus on the Chinese immigrants. They were packed in row after row of metal cots, Chinese poetry carved into the walls talking about their frustrations, missing their home land, and anything else coming to mind. Theres much history here that you learn about, there are many buildings and rooms to walk through.Afterwards you can go down to the beach and enjoy the view. What is really cool is the words carved into the walls. One word could have lots of power and emotion behind it.

Perhaps the most historic building on Angel Island. Now being converted into a nice museum and memorial. Learn about the anti-Asian racist period in American history and why Angel Island really is nothing like Ellis Island.

The Ellis Island of the West was the primary immigration post for Chinese coming into America until WWII. A lot of racist history happened here and the museum helps tell that history.
