Beautiful antique store. There are many vendor areas. It is crowded. If you have small children they would be ok in a Walker. Friendly staff. Spoke to us as we were leaving. You will have to make a day trip to see everything. Is was like a walk through time.
My husband and I decided to do an antique day around the Greenville area. Buncombe Antiques was the 6 store on our list. It was the BEST out of ALL of the antique stores we went to yesterday. Prices were good, deals at many booths, clean and the owners are super friendly. Check it out you will not leave empty handed.
Warm customer service! Allowed me to finish shopping well past closing (I lost track of time!), since they had a meeting. Also helped with another glitch that came up. PLUS, I felt like I found the prize in a treasure hunt! A vendor sometimes marks an item as FREE - I found a beautiful pink bowl that was being given away due to a tiny flaw. Stopping by & shopping there made my day - I’ll be back to visit Gloria & the amazing variety of fun collectibles.
I was very impressed with Buncombe Antiques Mall and the folks who run it. When I had an issue with a purchase it was resolved politely and immediately. I highly recommend this establishment. You won’t be disappointed and the customer service is stellar!
Large assortment of stuff and arranged nicely. Owner not very friendly.
Love this place. Pleasant and helpful proprietors and tons of cool goodies. This place is very large and packed full. Plan to spend some time here.
Great place to look around and very friendly people!
The BEST antique mall in S.C.!
They have an excellent and varied selection of antiques to explore, highly recommend visiting
I love to visit and walk through all the booths. Lots of cool stuff.
This place is fabulous. A little of everything imaginable, from wood works and crafts to hard to find dishes, coins and collectibles of every kind. Art works, antique clothing, bottles of all shapes and sizes. What a vast allotment of collectibles. Nice folks too, very pleasant and helpful customer service with a smile.
I visited this store today with my teenage daughter. We were there for over 2 hours and had a wonderful time looking over the huge selection. The owners (husband and wife) were so kind and helpful. This was my daughters first time antiquing and she fell in love with it. We bought so many fun pieces for our new home. Cant wait to go back!! Thank you for a great experience in your store.
I love it! They have so many wonderful items. I could look all day:)
Great experience
A great spot to browse. The owners are always courteous.
Ive been visiting this place off and on for 10 years. Its interesting how the restroom has been out of order all this time. Ive had to leave a number of times because of that. I told the owner one time that he might have more repeat business if he fixed the restroom. He told me he didnt have to provide a restroom. As I continued trying to talk to him he appeared to get agitated and said I could leave. I didnt venture back for quite a long time after that. Looking at some of his responses here I can see that I havent missed much. He seems to have quite an attitude sometimes. One thing Ive noticed is that it is very cold inside during the winter and is very warm during the summer. With the size of the building I can assume the heating and cooling bills could be enormous and I do understand. However, you dont want people miserable. At least most people wouldnt. It seems to me that something could be done to make it a little more desirable to be there. I barely got down the first isle this time before having to turn around and leave. The sweat was rolling off my face and my shirt was getting soaked! I guess thats it for ever going back.
One of my favorite places to shop all year round! The owners are kind and helpful, and have always gone the extra mile to help me find just what Im looking for. They are caring, Christian people and I appreciate their honesty and integrity in their business dealings.Theres a great range of items so theres always something fun to find. Everything from books to jewelry to furniture to military items to collectibles to glassware, clothing, lighting and more! Sometimes I go in just to browse and enjoy looking at lovely things from bygone eras.If you love history, antiques or collectibles, you need to make this a place to shop!
We have shopped this store along with many others for years. It does NOT deserve one star ! The staff are rude and condescending, unlike the other stores we frequent. They will not cooperate with the customers requests, either. Our advice is avoid this mall and move on to those that are friendly and value their customers !
Great place for a quick browse or a long, careful shop. The booth-style business means there is a little something for every antique shopper and the inventory changes often. I respect a business that cares for both its retail patrons and those that have antiques on display!
Yes, you can still find a true antique mall in the 21st century and its Buncombe Antiques Mall. They have many genuine antiques unlike a lot of the other stores and malls that are turning to mostly repurposed vintage goods. And the prices are good too. Ive found some items that are priced lower than what some flea market vendors try to get (and I shop a lot of flea markets). The owners were very helpful in pointing me to the items I was looking for. Check them out. You wont be disappointed.
Love the diversity! Each dealer has their own style. I have a booth & love looking for unique finds️
This by far my favorite antique store. Great quiet atmosphere! Huge selection! Friendly service! Great prices overall! Plan on spending several hours here! (make sure to bring a checkbook!)
Praise The Lord - an antiques mall that really carries antiques - like an oasis in the desert. Good variety of merchandise and priced reasonably. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A worthwhile stop if youre in the area.
Lots of variety and great items. Something for everyone.
Great things, wide variety, well-kept booths and friendly owners. Who could ask for anything more? Loved our visit.
Huge variety. Many booths from different vendors = lots of variety. Took me an hour to walk through! They dont take a card. This is my only complaint.... Sign up for Square. Its easy and reasonable.
Great Antiques and Finds!! Dan and Gloria are the best!
Gloria and her husband Dan are really great folks! It is our favorite place buy old vinyl records!
Doesnt accept credit cards. In this day and age thats entirely unacceptable. Its been entirely unacceptable for a long time now. When I asked, who I understood to be the owner when I was checking out, why he didnt accept credit cards, he went on about how were living in his century rather than the 21st and that he refused to let credit card companies take any cut of his profits. It seems like the other 99.9% of businesses are doing just fine, so he really needs to get with the program before Ill go back.As for the stores selection itself, they have some pretty good things are fairly reasonable prices. I honestly wish I could shop there.
The owner is friendly enough... once you get past the fact that you have to lock any purses or bags in little lockers at the front. What a way to pre-emptively not trust! Ive literally never been in a store that did that before! I understand that they have a lot of little things, but so does every other antique store Ive ever been to. Id say invest in cameras, but the response to the credit card review shows the owner is cheap. We live in Greenville, not LA. Have a little faith. The store overall IS nice, lots of booths, lots of neat things, mostly reasonable prices. Ive been in there multiple times. Wasnt able to enjoy it the last time because my wife was so disconcerted at having to put her purse in the locker (which someone told her to do AFTER shed already moved to do it - calm down, man) while the owners friends were sitting there by the door leering, that we only stayed about 5 minutes this time. A woman coming in when we were leaving was so put off at the automatic distrust that she left without even looking around. Seriously. Its a pretty garbage policy.
Loved this place so much! I was look everywhere for a old lantern but not spend a arm and a leg and I found one here!!
They had alot of older toys and everyone there was so nice.
The owner of this shop is no Christian at all. He physically shoved me and nearly pushed over an elderly lady and a third lady this morning at an estate sale after jumping to the front of the line in front of people who had been waiting hours in the cold. Behaving as if you are better than, and more entitled than, everyone else is not Christian at all, nor is the hate speech on the walls of your store.
The coolest antique place in the upstate would definitely recommend
Good amount of stuff and a lot of fun to walk through. Didnt have what I was specifically looking for but had a lot of fun!
There are pros and cons in putting a very large sign at the front of your store saying that all purses must be placed in a locker--no exceptions. And by very large sign I mean you cant miss it, it is sitting in the middle of the doorway and you literally have to walk around this thing in order to go in.Pros: According to the owners, this has reduced the number of damaged goods.Cons: As a customer, walking in with a huge sign like that, no matter the given justification, makes me feel like they dont trust me to have my bag with me in the store. Either they dont trust me to not knock things over (I was wearing a Kavu backpack/bag against my back...) Or they dont trust me to not steal anything. Either way, it is an icky feeling, so after not being greeted at the door I wandered to the left, with other signage that made me wonder if I really wanted to be there (No Restrrooms--Water is Leaking; Video Survalience in Progress) when the woman chased me down and said I must have missed the sign at the front requesting bags be left in lockers (Im not blind, you would literally have to be blind to have missed this giant sign). So I said that thats fine, I would just leave. She was much happier watching me leave with my bag than I think she would have been if I had bought something, which I had been very prepared to do today. With cash, I might add.All in all, lots of other things to go and do and see in Greenville without the icky feeling that I got when I walked into this store.
Interesting place. Great selection
Very helpful staff and a wide variety of items. Most booths were priced well below other antique stores in the area.
Walked in with my wife to look for a set of antique CB radios. Its important to note that we are in our early twenties. As we were approaching the front door, an elderly woman went in ahead of us. As soon as we entered the front door we saw a large 4 sign on an easel that tells you to leave your purse at the front desk. The two clerks occupying the front desk pointed to a set of lockers and told us to stash our thing. The elderly woman was not asked to leave her purse. She walked through and went to her shopping. Maybe shes an old friend and they know for certain she wont steal something but it felt wrong. Feeling uncomfortable, we left to shop at an antique store that doesnt make me leave my valuable things in their hands. What really sucks about this whole thing is that Its assumed the moment you walk in the door that youre a thief. I came to spend money on a few cool things. I may be just be self-absorbed here but I feel like my generation are the ones that are keeping antique stores alive. Vintage and retro are in right now. What better place to get these things than an antique store? Its a shame that younger people like my wife and I are seen as the bad guys. I found this store about a week ago and decided that the moment I could, I would pay a visit. Waited all week and the first day I was off I made a trip just to see this store. I wont be back.Update: The owners were kind enough to respond and at a fast pace to boot! Sadly, they didnt take the time to listen and understand my sincere and honest review. Instead, they resorted to bullish name calling and blindly lashed out. Its unfortunate. I genuinely wanted them to understand what their customers feel and they didnt listen.Regarding their locker policy, they were sure to give me their canned response as you can see on many other reviews here. Their explanation was that things have been broken because of people carrying purses. Thats a logical concern that could be resolved with a you break it, you buy it policy. What concerns me is that they spent $200 on a sign and easel to place directly in the doorway for every guest to see. Its condescending and unnecessary. If my wifes purse damaged a single thing in the store I would happily pay for it. Thats a fact of life that Im certain people understand. Now that the owner felt the need to harass and insult me on his page I feel I should bring up another point of frustration. On my way out, I noticed that they accept only cash or check. This is interesting to me as its the only antique store in the area that does this to my knowledge. Ive shopped at several other locations and happily given up my card. The owner has stated in several other google reviews that most millennial choose not to use CREDIT cards. Right you are Dan! We tend to stay away from CREDIT cards. Now this is where your confusion comes in. CREDDIT and DEBIT are different! Now theres a shocker huh?! Millenials have bank accounts. They have money and they want to spend it. We dont use cash for fear of losing it and we dont make checks because its archaic. Something else to consider is that nearly every customer you have walking in has a cell phone. These cell phones can have debit cards stored in them to use as wireless payment. Now, I realise your older customers may not go for this feature but the younger certainly do. Millenials are significantly more likely to shop at businesses that accept Android Pay and Apple Pay. As for the fees that you pay to use these card services...thats a fact of business. You pay 2.75% per transaction or $275 a month with services like Square or PayPal. I dont know your specific numbers of course but lets say your average ticket sale is $100...thats $2.75. 2.......75.......! Youre going to lose out on a $100 sale because of three bucks?! Watch out now here comes another free tip! When you accept cards you get more customers. The owners sound like Amys Baking Company. Theyve got a confirmation bias and an ego the size of the sign in their front door.
Beware of doing any business with these people over the internet or possibly even in the store itself.I am a long time antique dealer and certified appraiser with nearly 40 years experience. I am also the Executive director of a long standing museum. When I recently advised this store that a certain item they were offering from the inventory of their website and on their eBay internet listings was a modern Asian made reproduction instead of an authentic American antique an individual who identified himself both as this stores owner and but also alternately as the son of the owner took time to track down a private home telephone number associated with my place of business and start making phone calls at 3AM in the morning to an innocent staff member ranting and raving and referring to me as a lunatic.Further threatening communications in the form of e-mails began to arruve shortly thereafter. In addition to the telephone harrassment and email this individual boasts have to have actively engaged in using the internet to compile private personal information on myself including photographs outlining my day to day activities. He even went so far as to obtain personal property and financial records on my residence suggesting that they had the power to jepordize the security of my home and other financial holdings. They also threatened to call my employer, get me fired and ruin my reputation in the community if did not apologize and retract the legitimate and truthfull negative comments regarding their business practices made in open public consumer forums such as this one.Beware that you may suffer an invasion of your own privacy if choosing to do business with these people.
