Breathtaking view of all the natural things this planet has to offer. Great family fun for all ages. We always stay at Captains Quarters and when we do we always visit this island. My daughter found a bunch of sponges and really nice shells. My son is a big time swimmer and we can’t keep him out of beautiful clear water!
Anclote Key Preserve State Park is really a great city. I love everything especially the diversity. I feel most comfortable there anytime of day and suburbs are nice but quiet after 7 pm. There is so much to do in Anclote Key Preserve State Park. I love to go there to do yoga but unfortunately because of virus everything seems standstill. Even then its great to visit.
Great island to hang out in if you have a boat. It is large enough so that boats can be soap apart almost giving you a private beach feeling. I have camped at the North see of the island once because there is a outhouse for the ladies. The no see-ums and mosquitoes are in full force on this 30 minutes before and after sunrise/sunset. Bug spray didnt really have any effect on detouring these critters. It is beautiful though during the day.
It is a nice place to get away. Little paradise in our back yard. Volunteer with our friends of anclote key to help preserve this park. Also get a tour of the lighthouse
Ample parking. But we can always make a better effort to keep our water clean. Too much trash, especially at the boat ramps!
Simple. Anchor your boat and enjoy the water and scenery. Great place lots of boater playing music and just having a good time
Very hot try to go on a day with a lot of overcast other than that super chill
A key where bay meets the gulf. Wonderful island to go shell seeking.
Great day on the water and a nice place to come with the family
Its a beautiful island. You can only get there by boat. The water is pretty and clear. We saw several different sizes of stingrays swim by us, a couple manatees and dolphins, bunches of shells and different birds. We were wade fishing and caught speckled trout, skipjack and mackerel. I didnt get to explore the island so hopefully next time.
We go there every year and its always relaxing and fun
I must have come to this place at least a dozen times with family and friends. Having a boat definitely makes it much easier to frequent this place and enjoy the multiple things there is to do in this place. Our first trip we had a nice picnic right on one of the sandy beaches and then went walking the trails. Another time we went around the island on our sailboat until we found a nice spot to stop for a nice lunch and siesta on a hammock. We loved this place so much that we wanted to try the primitive camping. Camping turn in to a true adventure as we picked the wrong time (just before a cold front rolled in) however it remains one very memorable occasions we have gone through as a family. Definitely one of my favorite spots in this area.
My favorite island experience. Perfect beach for walking, shelling and swimming. Fun adventure arriving by boat, seeing only trees and the historic lighthouse.
Short answer: Amazing primitive tent camping with great scenes,Long answer: Stayed for the weekend, tent camping Friday March 15-17. Used a private boat. It was perfect weather, and if it was any hotter than 75-80 in the day It wouldnt have been nearly as nice. You can set up the tent in some awesome spots on the beach. The island was enormous and there werent that many people at all. Awesome views. Not a lot of good fire wood, bring your own if you can. TONS of bugs inland near the toilet (The toilet is much better than going in a hole, but comparable to a porta-potty). If you camp on the beach youll barely see mosquitoes at all, mostly because of the steady wind. One of us got stung by a scorpion, so theres those i guess. Didnt see a single snake, but did see a few Bald Eagles.I will 100% camp here again, tons of fun.
Beautiful island with really great beaches on the north end and really clear water. Just beware if you camp here - if there is no wind the bugs will carry you away! Other than that I highly recommend it especially if you own your own boat and can hang out for a little while.
My favorite place to anchor our boat and enjoy paradise
Took a cruise out and it was beautiful! Fun place to stop at or even spend an afternoon and bring a lunch.
Beautiful and peaceful key with nice beach and the lighthouse as background. The only way to get here is with a tour boat. We saw 2 pods of dolphins! 2 hour tour was totally worth it!
Absolutely beautiful and amazing. I recommend Oddessey tours they were awesome!
Beautiful park with so many different species of water fowl. It was so lovely.
Beautiful beach, typically family friendly, good place to spot dolphins and other sea life.
Great time with the family, went out on the boat and it was awesome.
Wo w! This island is So Beautiful. When we visited was a great time of the day. Late afternoon on a weekday. Not too many people. Lots of great seashells to pick up. The water is Very clear here. Cant wait to go back.
Ive paddled to this island by kayak and paddle board. Ive taken a boat to this island. Every time Ive been I have thoroughly enjoyed it!Camping is available on the north end of the island and there is a self composting toilet. There is a lighthouse on the south end of the island with a small sheltered area for picnics. Ive caught some giant fish from this island and enjoyed some great camping trips.Beware for the novice Florida adventurer....there are tons of bugs so bring spray, there are tons of raccoons so protect your food!
Spent the day and camped over night. Quiet, fairly secluded except for the fishers Remains of red tide sucked but the dead fish were not fresh dead. Lots of shells.
Fun...good place to hang out and find sea shells
Beautiful natural area. Full of birds and wildlife. Easily accessible by boat. Sandy beaches. However, no services or structures, all natural.
Had the place to ourselves for the most part. Sand and warm waters were incredible! Fishing was plentiful around various areas!
This state park is seriously the best in the area. Boat only access. white sands, clear turquoise water and north of the park is the sandbar which pretty much go on for miles in low tide or in high tide be the tinest island.
Cant wait to actually go.
A fine mangrove and protected water setting. Fishing and kayaking are highlights here. A calm and natural setting is present.
We used the boat ramp to hang out at some of the islands. Had a great time. Just FYI - the current can be strong at the ramp if the powerplant is running
Beautiful but weather was overcast so water was cloudy.
A great escape. Amazing views. Relaxation!! Happy to sit and chill on the beach!!
Arrived on the island as a part of a 2 hour tour. We spent about 45 minutes on the island and it is such a beautiful place. My daughter had a blast shelling we found very unique shells. It was not crowded at all and it was clean. I hope to get back out there again.
Anclote Key, located in the Gulf of Mexico, is a fun place for collecting shells and driftwood. Accessible only by boat, you can get there with your own boat or take a tour boat from Tarpon Springs.
Recommend!!! We took the spongerama tour from Yannys. Great tour guides!!! Such an awesome experience! A must for all ages!!!
A beautiful place to go to collect shells and to see a beautiful sunset
Great place to hang out on a boat and walk toe beach.
Fun place to visit I always enjoyed lighthouses as a kid and I like to see as many as I can havent got that up close and personal with the one on Anclote Key but its definitely a good place for shelling and seeing wildlife
Our children have grown up on this island. Weve created so many great memories. Id rather be here than any beach in Florida! Its our own little getaway.
Great beach. Depends on the wind.
Great place to hang out on weekdays. I kayak out from Fred Howard and often fish around the Island. Weekends is nuts though...too many boats but that goes for all the islands.
Such a great place! Went camping with my friends and it was amazing! Lots of bugs though, be prepared if you are going camping.
My husband likes to cone here to ride his jet ski. I’m not a big fan because of the impression the gWater gives. I know is the tannins in the water, but I can’t help myself to go in. Tannins are considered an aesthetic problem. While they may make water unappealing to drink and stain laundry, they do not present a health concern. But the place has a park for the kids if you don’t want to get into the water.
Had a great time,good day
Natural, Unique, Isolated and untouched beauty.
Fun day on the sandbar. Tide was in when we got there. Island got huge as tide went out. Good spot to hang and relax with friends!
Absolutely gorgeous. We came on the Odessy Sunset cruise and had a gorgeous view with great little tidbits of history and nature.
Pleasant surprise! It started pouring down raining after we were there for 15 minutes so our boat had to leave but the kids saw sins interesting things for sure!
Always peaceful, beautiful and no fees.
Very serene beautiful place.
We stopped here as part of a dolphin tour and had a good time. Reminds me why I live in Florida.
Wonderful 2 hr cruise. Fun hunting shells on island.
A great place to spend the day with your family buy boat
The sunset speaks for the beauty. The boat tour was fun as well.
Came by catamaran and stayed over night was beautiful and relaxing dont come if you dont like being woken up by a lot of sea birds. Being this is a sanctuary for birds. If your a bird enthusiasts youll love it here. Its also a fantastic place for fishing. I just enjoy watching the people and nature and did I mention the dolphins, youll see them too along with the most awesome sunsets.
I was a few minutes, quiet place with picturesque places.
This park is beautiful. Im sure it gets crowded on nice weekends, but we went during the week in July and it was amazing. We rented a pontoon and spent the day snorkeling, exploring, swimming, and just relaxing. It was the best.
Great place to luLaunch your boat
Sunset cruise was gorgeous!
Just a nice little island getaway...
Best spot ever
Its a great place to go shelling and swim especially when the tide is on his way out. there are water taxis that bring people out to The Sandbar so they can walk around and enjoy the water and the boat ride out there. plenty of places to beach your boat and to go ahead and swim or even fish. Pristine beauty of this place is spectacular.
One of my favorite places to go to just get away from it all!
I absolutely love coming here for the shells, beach, birds and picnics. There are no dogs allowed. Its a great place to anchor out, fish and play in the water.
I love this park. Wish Uber did boat rides, cause Id take an uber boat out there to spend the day if I could.
Such a calm, secluded beach. Clear, warm waters. Good for finding shells. Only accessible by water craft.
Off the beaten path. Beautiful place for shell collecting.
Dog heaven! My friend Kelly and I took our three dogs (I have one and she has two) out to the sandbar on a slow Monday; or was it Tuesday. The other boaters were friendly enough and we all had a great time.I wasnt real pleased to find out theres a local company shuttling tourists out here. Its hardly fair to the people who have invested in a boat and have knowledge about the water and how to respect nature. I hope these hoards of consumers dont ruin a great thing.
Great place to call for Sea Tow when youre broke down on your jetski
Beautiful spot. Seashells abundant. Swimming. Need a boat or Seado to get here.
Fantastic destination for boating. Great place to spend the day!
Beautiful stop on our Dolphin Tour stop. Very pristine place. Lots of shells.
What a pleasant surprise and such a treat. The crew were amazing and so informative. We did actually get to see dolphins and pick up shells after crashing onto the beach lol ! Great experience and would definitely recommend taking this tour to anyone.
A bit of Paradise in Pasco County. FANTASTIC beaches for shell gathering, playing in the surf, relaxing in the sun and just plain ol grasping a bit of the Florida Life!!! Im a Florida native of the East Coast. 3yr transplant and small biz owner in Tarpon Springs. Polaris MSX extraordinaire too! lol (I launch from the spacious and well designed Anclote Gulf Park ramp usually)
A little piece of paradise in the Gulf of Mexico, but you can only get there by boat and need to leave your dog(s) at home. It is shallow enough to stand and deep enough to anchor your boat for a little fun in the sun. Its a nice place to meet up with your neighbors and meet new ones. The wildlife on and around the island/sandbar is a good place to educate the kids about the delicate ecosystems around us and play in the sand.
Love visiting this park.
A spot for memories to be made. Looking for paradise? This is it
I was only out there for a short time but this would be a great place to spend the day at the beach and do some shelling. You do need a boat to get there.
Beautiful adventure. We got cool shells. While I didnt find any sand dollars in perfect condition, I did find chucks enough to equal a dollar
Took a boat ride to a really good spot to collect beautiful seashells that are still intact.
A vacation of a place only a mile from shore, make sure to leave it cleaner than you found it and enjoy.
Great area with many outdoor opportunities.
Love it. Sand is so soft.
Its the beach how could it not be five starAlso Lots if sand dollars
Favorite spot for swimming and shelling!
Perfect place to anchor your boat and chill. I cant even describe how beautiful. Catch the exposed areas inward before the tide comes in and admire the difference.
Took the seashelling boat....so peaceful & very fun!!
A Pasco County Landmark!
A most beautifully natural place, a trip back in time. The icing on the cake would have been the view atop the lighthouse but that is off limits.
Awesome place beautiful watera
Nice boating, beach, warm clearwater.
Great shelling! Beautiful small barrier island so close to Tarpon Springs!
