very important My family and I have had a great time, the kinds of science and knowledge that are suitable for children.I was hoping to see more interest and sterilization against Covid 19. Do not forget to bring your own sterilizer, because there is no.I thought there was a gift store Liked the place I recommend it
Great place 2 go if you have kids or if you are a kid at heart. it is all about the wonders of science: including astronomy (with planetarium and shows that teach you how to identify stars), mechanical physics (with tug of war experiment, and showing gears in action). fun for kids, and possibly a place to take your significant other!
The museum was bustling but not crowded, and employees sanitized the hands-on exhibits many times. The VR Simulator was lots of fun, and the Moonbase was immersive and informative. The real star of the show was the Planetarium presenter, he was knowledgeable and entertaining, his show was fun for my kids as well as my wife and I. Definitely worth it for the cost.
This was a lot of fun! We didnt have any children with us, and still had a blast being silly and childlike and enjoying the exhibits. Masks were required and everyone complied. The exhibits were very interesting and lots of hands on, but sanitizer was available throughout the museum. Definitely going to come back with kids!!!
It was okay. Stayed for a few hours. Fun brain games to play. My older kids were bored. Perfect for my 6&7 year old. Love the spaceship part. The games were fun to play. The nail pressure bed was fun. Liked the star pictures. Wish there was more to do with the kids. Not a huge letdown. Some of the activities were closed.
I took my 9 year old son thinking this would be a cool place for him to learn and have fun. We were both very disappointed! The place is a bit run down. Some of the game did not work or were in rough condition. We paid extra for the planetarium and this was the biggest disappointment by far! We went in thinking we were going to see planets but we saw a poor quality animated movie about atom splitting. After the movie we had a poor speaker explain the stars and Greek mythology and he did a very poor job! We wanted to see PLANETS! The speaker did a quick point to mars and that was it. We should have gone to the Childrens museum in downtown Tampa. The rope walk which we also paid extra to do was somewhat difficult for most of the kids.
Great fun for my family and me
Its ok if youre under the age of 12. The art was interesting and some of the brain teasers were fun. Since they closed down the big dome they cut the price to less than 1/2 so that was a plus. Overall it was something different to do. I would recommend giving it a try.
We had a great time. Super friendly staff. Just wish there were hand sanitizing stations throughout the exhibits
I had a great time and it was a lot of fun. However I did not see any hand washing stations . They only have 1 wing where everything is located. They said they build mosi but I don’t see anything that was
Not what it used to be back in the day. Total waste of money but on the good end of it the guy in the Planetarium really knows his stuff. Kudos to him
Very accessible took me no time to find parking. Very friendly staff great exhibits very educational. My son was so happy I took him there. Will definitely be back
I used to come to MOSI every year on a school field trip, so I was quite surprised to see the new mosi. Its basically half of what it was before. No IMAX movie, and the big building displays have been consolidated to what used to be kids in charge. Not all of them were transferred over, which is disappointing. If you purchase the membership, I think its worth the price. After two family visits it pays for itself and also includes membership to other museums. Our favorite exhibit was the planetarium.Plus, its indoors and air conditioned and great for younger elementary kids. You could probably see the whole thing in 4-5 hours. If you dont like wearing a mask, they are optional.
Fun experience. Love that they updates their exhibits. Haven’t been back since the virus started but will not hesitate to return again and bring my daughter when it’s all over with. Smh. Great place to bring family too when visiting. :)
Had a fun time checking out the different areas. My favorite was the NASA sections!
Fun place to go go alone, with family, ir with friends! The planetarium is cool too.
Great place to bring children, not much to do as an adult. The planetarium show was great and everything was very clean
Cool hy tech exhibit but the rest is rather boring. My 9 year old didnt even get into it. Took literally 20 min to walk thru the whole museum and no food or anything but vending machines $5 for a small dots Ice cream rediculous
Great for kids 5 to 10.
First visit with my family...not so impressed Im saddened to say. It was empty, not much to see or do. Only exciting part of our trip was the planuterium. There were about 5 to 7 other people there. I asked someone whom I thought worked there a question and she said she doesnt, she just cleans. I asked her anyway about the building outside with the nice windows, she told me it was under construction then stopped so theres nothing in there. What a waste of space and educational purpose. I personally think the fee was/is not worth what they have to offer. If youre planning on visiting, Id skip this one, honestly nothing to see or do here. The emptyness was not due to COVID-19, per the ticket booth girl and guy that were there, its been that empty for about a year. It was worth a one time visit but never again.
I went here as a kid on field trips and now have taken my kids and seems like its more fun now than when I went as a kid! Completely remodeled and has more interactive items! They also have extra add-on activities you can purchase to do, like a virtual reality ride and or doing the ropes course which is outside as well other activities. They also have a decent sized playground outside that is nice and clean surrounded by a fake grass area where you can sit watch your little ones play!
7 years ago. Just me and my 15 year old son. What a wonderful time we had indoors, out of the rain. I do enjoy the rain.
This museum is modest, but extremely modern, clean, well-organized, and fun for the little ones. Amongst the activities and exhibits are:-Table puzzles and games (of the stacking and rearranging to achieve the victory condition sort)-Wood blocks to build with-An array of optical illusions-A playground. This was a big hit, and its totally fenced off from the surrounding campus.-A climbing course (extra $)-A VR space experience (extra $)-A Tesla coil-A display of student art and creations-A modern communication and technology room-An artist painting-A craft room with STEM projectsOn the whole, very nice and definitely worth the trip. It doesnt compare to the museums of larger cities, but for Tampa, its great!
We love this place. Come spend the day with your kids lots of exhibits to try out while kids learn about science. Grab an educational movie in the small dome theater.... Go outside to the large playground, have some lunch, or go climb the super high exhibit (i cant recall what it was called pics attached) and get a birds eye view of down below all while anchored and walking over narrow beams and uneven steps
Take your kids spend a couple hours exploring out of the house. Plenty of sanitizer stations, masks required, and covid measures have been taken altering exhibition.
I took a group of 6 girls to Mosi on a Sunday. First, I was surprised how inexpensive it was, $13 for adults and $8 for kids. The girls were skeptical about how fun it would be at first. Once we got inside, they saw how many stations there were to play with and that the open floor plan gave them the freedom to explore on there own. We spent 5 hours there and the girls were never bored, because all the exhibits are hands off. Also, outside food is welcome and there is a lovely picnic area.
Its gotten smallerStill great place for the familyKids educational
Great little museum....great for kids...only located in the small building now. I wish I could have visited it when the whole complex was open. But overall...well worth the money
So much to look at and play great place, rope course and play ground it not open :(
Good value. Not as much stuff inside as I expected by the size of the building. Single story of attractions. Great interactive exhibits. Definitely geared towards kids.
You get to learn about literlary such amazing things.!Its so COOL.
Really fun despite being a ghost town post-covid! Beware MOSI is not at full function and seems to have some construction going on.
There were hardly any people there on the Saturday we went. It closed around 5 pm so we didnt get to explore everything, but next time well block a few hours out to explore everything & skip the planetarium We love science!
Its good place to take kids.
My brother and I took my nephew here on our trip to Florida and he LOVED IT ! It was so fun! Its such a great place for kids and adults to just have fun. We also had the privilege to see Mercury in a telescope. Apparently we wont be able to see it in another 30ish years.️
I would love to give it more starts. however, it is very small now and still expensive given what you get. but the biggest part is their summer camps. I have always sent my children their for summer camps. and they love it. but I will not be sending them because they arent even going to bother taking the temperature of the kids! all the parents have to do is sign a paper ONCE A WEEK saying that their kid is healthy. this is not safeupdate Oct 2020, went to the museum and i would say only 50% of the people are wearing masks and when I mentioned it to the only 2 staff members working, they said that it isnt their job to ensure guests wear masks. we will not be renewing our membership
Great place to take your kids ages from 0 to 100+. Learn wile having fun. Up to date on technology information good and need to know. A few simulators, space, storm wind, electricity, moon etc.
It has been substantially reduced in size as well as in the quality of exhibits. It is good for kids to have fun but not to learn. The main planetarium is no longer in use and they now use a very small room. The show is not good, they just show you the stars you can see from Tampa.I remember when they had science exhibits geared towards adults but no longer, it seems more designed to let children play. Which is fine if it helps them learn, but that is not the case, there are not any museum employees educating them, its more of a free for all.As a scientist myself, I would have hoped that this a museum would gave the capability to educate adults and raise their scientific literacy (because most adults need it), but no, that is not the case. Overall I would say avoid. There are many better Science museums.
Great place to help children learn and have fun....wonderful staff that care and are helpful.
Nice museum however it was very small and not many actual exhibits like I was hoping for. My fiancee and I went as big science nerds and we found that this is more of a childrens museum, all the activities and exhibits are made for kids or young adults. The saving grace is the planetarium show which was pretty cool. Great for families, not so much for adults only.
Tons of amazing things to do. Nice staff. Nice park. Breathtaking planetarium. Incredible space area.
Great little science place. More like a play area then museum since everything is interactive. Definitely feel it’s more for older kids probably 5+ my 3 year old liked messing with stuff but felt like it would be more appropriate for ones that have more inclination to focus on what each station teaches.
Very nice clean and there is many things to do and teach your kids there
Tons of fun and lots of exhibits! The planetarium was amazing. Charlie was very fun and informative!
The Museum itself is relatively small but there are many cool things to do and see. The staff is friendly and are interactive with guests. I feel like the add-ons are a bit pricey. But, over all, Id say it was definitely well worth the $13.00 admission.
Great place to being your kids, family enjoy a day out and learning new stuff.Wish the big building was open i seen videos looks way better. Wonder what happen.
Great family fun place...lots of interactive experiences with space travel and a cool planetarium. Be sure not to miss this place
A great place of learning and problem-solving in a fun and safe atmosphere. There was something for all ages. It’s not that large a place so you can do it in a half day. Loved the playground structure:)Parking was free:)
Great place to take your kids if they are interested in entertaining, hands on learning.
Very fun activities buy only one floor and when I went playground and ropes course were closed :,(
Teachers get in free. Just show your pay stub and ID. This was a super fun Science Museum. My kids had a blast with all the hands-on activities. We launched to the Moon and were able to explore. They have a virtual reality roller coaster and hurricane wind simulator. We also enjoyed the planetarium show. It was a great place to spend a few hours playing and learning for a great price.
Great place to take the curious child or the curious child inside you. Hands on experiences to stimulate curiosity and learning in a FUN way. Thinking and challenging activities. If you are brave enough and want a real challenge... take the Sky Trail Ropes Course super exciting!!
I was disappointed at how little there was to see. I had been s member 5 years ago and the museum had 3 buildings with of exhibits! It used to be wonderful and had multiple floors. Now everything is in one building and one floor besides the zip line structure that is outside. It was a bummer. The planetarium show was really good. The girl narrating was very knowledgable. The other highlight was the exhibit on the 50 year anniversary of the moon landing.
A lot of different activities to do! Its neat. It engages your brain
Thought we would be in & out. It appeared to be small. BIG SURPRISE! We arrived at 1 and were still building st 5. The kids(14yrs to 3yrs) loved it. It stretched all of our imaginations. Would definitely recommend for all ages
Staff was friendly we are from out of state thought it would be more if you have younger kids it would be ok more things for them to do
Everyone had a great time. :)
Good place to enhance the knowledge of kids but they lack of facilities offered and it cost so much
Not as great as it once was. This place use to be huge. Now they have condensed it down into a tiny building. They do have the Zipline and rope course so that is cool. The museum is so small now. Maybe 2-3 hours of fun.
Very educational and if not too busy, you will really have an opportunity to interact with the experiences. We went on a weekend, and had a blast at the beginning until we realized that there was not much to it. Reasonable size area, dated exhibits, and anything worth mentioning was an up sell. We had contemplated getting a membership (which they make easy to acquire after an initial visit); however we are glad we did not. 100 points for their intention. We left after an hour and went to the zoo.
Lots of fun activities for kids to explore and enjoy even with the downsizing of the museum we found lots to explore. We stayed as part of an overnight education event for Girl Scouts and that experience I thought wasnt well planned as far as timing for each experience and the information being taught wasnt decided on well to fit the age group it was being presented to, but beyond that the museum itself is very neat and great for a day trip.
Kids loved camp! Thanks for your professionalism and hospitality.
Had a great time. Only down fall outside is being renovated so didnt get to see anything but inside main building is really cool! Staff is friendly and museum is clean.
Kids had a lot of hands on fun. They have additional activities you have to pay extra for. Well worth the trip there.
Fun place... better if you have kids.Lots to see. Rope walks, VR ride and planetarium. 13$ ish to get in and extras cost extra. Very educational, really interactive and a lot of reading.
Loved it. Great place to take the kids.
Super place to take the kids. Actually something for everybody. Lots of hands on stuff for the kids and plenty of volunteers to help with assembly. My grandson made a paper rocket and launched it with compressed air. Fun!
Its a bit sad to see this museum withering away from what it used to be. Today its more impressive from the road, but most of the buildings are closed to the public now. The price is affordable, just dont expect to see very much inside. If you are in Tampa with kids, its worth spending an hour or two here.
Very nice place but not a lot to do
I called ahead and just no. Go somewhere else I feel a bit jipped
A fun place to spend some time with the kids. Informative and educational. Not too big though. Should take less than half a day. Also, there is no cafetria or a place to eat inside. So better not to go at a time when kids can get hungry soon.
My little guy loves this place. Veteran friendly which is a plus.Staff are great and the 3d print for those on site special exhibits are great. Especially because they let the kids explore and explain while they are working on it.
We have a great experience, but the the place has no trash bins around.
Great Childrens museum with interactive STEM exhibits. You not only see and hear science exhibits but in some cases small it. Beware large school groups on field trips and wear comfortable clothes. You will be there for quite a while.
The place to me is just okay because I was happy kind of with the fact that my kids had a good time and we had a good time watching them but if they could have seen the way in MOSI was when I was younger I will I got to go there with my father... Man oh man they would have been off the wall because there was so much more to do and so much more to see... Really a shame how they cut that place back like they did
What a shame. I cannot believe theyre charging what they charge to go in. childrens part is open and they let everything go. So sad
Miss the old Mosi. While we enjoyed our hour there, it is not something I have any desire to return to. Glad I didnt have to pay thanks to our Swaptember privileges. The moon exhibit is by far the best part.
For $21 my 2 and 4 yr old and I launched homemade rockets, drove on the moon, laid on a bed of nails, touched electricity, saw visual illusions, went in a hurricane tunnel, operated a crane, saw dinosaur bones, made paper helicopters... Its so much smaller than it was 10 yrs ago, but the prices fairly reflect that.
Exploring all of the different areas is awesome! Worth the trip up from Orlando & the rope course was a total hit with the kids & family! Great for families with autistic kids, the staff is very patient & kind. Perfect for staying out of the hot sun.
Slightly disappointed that its only one building now. Its geared toward children, very interactive. My kids love it, especially the rope climb.
Great place for family with little kids
Very nice museum with quite a bit of activities for both children and adults. It also offers additional experiences for an extra fee. Its a museum that can be visited in less than 4 hours and children want to come back for more. The lay out could be improved for a better experience.
We visited during winter vacation. It was rainy outside and the afternoon at the Museum was time well spent. The staff, exhibits, and overall atmosphere were a pleasant welcome and kept us engaged for hours. The experience is a good exercise for children and parents to engage their thinking skills and patience working through hands-on activities while simply having an enjoyable time.
My son loves coming here and is always asking to go back
Awesome place to experience a few cool themes. Loved learning what they had to share! Its not real high excitement atmosphere so kids tend to get a little bored after an hour or 2 but they will remember it.
I mean where do you start?.. as a parent all the science and info is great, but even better is the way its designed for show kids simple physics in a fun way. The moon exhibit definitely a favorite. Missed the planetarium but plan to visit again soon!
We had a groupon for the ropes course and zip line, which we did on our last day visiting family in the area. The staff were a bit disorganized and didnt seem so concerned with if the customer was having a good time or not. We ended up having to wait quite a while for the zip line to be opened up because it had rained earlier in the day and the person to okay it was doing other things. Overall the kids had a good time, but the experience could have been better.
Amazing place for older children or adults. My family and I had a blast here. There was abundant parking, great accessability, easy walk and outdoor walking paths.
Definitely a place for kids. I went by myself as a 26 year old and was not that fun for me...
Field trip. It was fun. Its small and expensive . Its ok to visit once. Your kids will like and explore. The lady at rainforest was fun and nice. She knows how to explain things to kids.
Lots of really cool exhibits and fun activities for young kids to try.
What a waste of time and money! I enjoyed MOSI alot as a kid but was super disappointed at how all the old exhibits are closedor gone altogether,
Everything was great but they shut down the butterfly garden
Lots of fun activities for the kids and a nice outdoor play area.
If you know the old version when it was in the old building, now being in a small building will disappoint you. Its 1/4 the size if not smaller. The actvities in the current building are good and well done for a science center. But the reliance on school groups which come in and can get very roudy making others not be able to enjoy it. Also you would think its a good place for a rainy day but the playground and zipline are outdoor activities. Its definitely on my skip it list now.
We love MOSI, both my 4 year old and my 16 year old have a great time at this wonderful museum. We bought annual passes so that we could visit often. The idea zone changes every month, so there is always something new. My kids love the planetarium, the Tesla coil and the Moonbase exhibit. My husband really enjoys Connectus, an exhibition of new technologies that are being developed and how these technologies will shape the future. I love the Dino Lab, where you can learn about fossils and prehistoric life. There is something for everyone!Parking is free. The rope trail course and the planetarium are not included in general admission.
My son had the best time here, there were lots of other kids and enough interactive activities for all of them. The climbing course was a little too intense for my 4 y/o, but I look forward to trying it out on our next trip (you cant climb in flip flops for obvious reasons).
Great experience for kids. We have a four and ten year old. They both enjoyed multiple exhibits and the rope course. Two hours well spent.
