Oh my gosh! This place was so much fun! If you have never gone climbing but have thought about it, just do it! You feel silly and self conscious and scared at first but after you fall a few times and realize it is ok and you are safe it is the most amazing thing ever! It is relaxing and invigorating and a great work out all at once! I will be back!
Super chill place to climb. Its got good routes. No air conditioning but the big fans help
Tallahassees climbing gym is fun, approachable, and challenging all at the same time. The staff are super friendly and eager to talk about lines, technique, or climbing in general. The routes are always technical and top notch.
Friendly staff, inexpensive membership, yoga and workout room, snacks and drinks, great bouldering and TR routes as well as a brand new kilter board!
Very cool gym. They usually update a wall once a week. Small gym located on site with yoga mats and yoga instructors who come 3 times a week. Best part though is the friendly owner and awesome staff. Everyone there can help you with your climbing, questions, and to put a smile on your face
Had a good time and a great workout. I had been there a time or two in years past and I knew I liked it so I actually went ahead and signed up for a membership, the rates are good for what youre getting and the business hours really work with my full time schedule. Im looking forward to trying out their different yoga classes.
Such a wonderful experience very good rates for students military and health-care workers. This was the ideal place to celebrate my Birthday
Great Place! It was my very first time climbing but my instructor BO made me feel like I was a pro! The staff and people are very nice and helpful. Bring water or a water bottle! Stay hydrated this is a work out and the gym has no AC. However, there are a lot of fans posted around if you need to cool off. THANKS BO! We will be returning! CLIMB ON!
Really enjoy this place. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Quiet. Clean. Safe.
This place was so awesome! My girlfriend and I had literally no experience with rock climbing and Sydney was so helpful in showing us the ropes, pun intended. We’ll definitely be going back again!
Super great alternative to a typical workout. The gym doesnt have A/C, but they have huge fans to help with air flow. Everyone was so nice, and helpful. Great experience
Great place to get back on the crag. By climbers for climbers. Great for beginners to Stone Masters or just a good work out. Climb on guys.
No air conditioning and you can’t get access to the water fountain when there is a yoga class, which was from about 6:30pm-7:40pm... don’t show up here without water or you’ll die of dehydration if you sweat a lot. You can buy water, but there is a 4 dollar minimum for cards, so you’ll have to buy multiple. If it wasn’t for all of that insanity, this gym would be okay. Setting is inventive, but not very well refined. Lots of climbs have cool moves and then one really awkward or poorly set move.It is also 15 dollars for a day pass, which is really expensive for what you get. The gym isn’t kept up nearly enough to warrant that... the only gym I’ve paid that much at is climb Nashville... look at pictures... completely different league...That said, the people there are cool. Good sense of community. I like climbing a lot, but soaking through a shirt and then not having any water after overpaying kind of ruined it for me.
Friendly staff and great workout, routes updated regularly
Listen I gave this place two stars because the adults looked like they were having a grand old time and rightfully so, plus the front staff was super friendly. However, they were very misleading with the information they gave me about youth passes. I told them I had never been and asked if my toddler would enjoy it. They went on and on about how much they’d have a blast. After paying nearly $40 bucks (pass and shoes) I realized that other than one wall. They weren’t actually big enough to reach anything else in the gym. I went back to the desk after literally minutes and they showed very little empathy about the situation and said they don’t give refunds. It’s just good business practice honestly. If you see a new customer is not getting what they thought they were paying for, them give a damn refund. Or, if that’s not a possibility, provide a free pass for next time. Their best offer was a $5 off coupon. Thanks but no thanks.Again, I’m sure his place is great for adults, but they should have been more upfront about children or maybe even let them “test it out” for a minute before I throw my money away.Seriously disappointed. Throw on top of that they don’t actually have air conditioning and it’s over 100 degrees with the humidity and you have one hot sweaty mom. This place has a lot of potential but I’m already turned off by their business practices. I do wish them well and hope they give future parents proper warning or change how why approach young climbers.
Great gym. The guy behind the desk I could do without. Hubris without a good reason.
Pretty cool, had a birthday here once it was very fun
There is a great community at this gym, they make it feel like home. The staff are super knowledgeable and always friendly. 10 out of 10 would Tally Rock Gym again.
My favorite place in all of Tallahassee. Great community, the staff members are so kind and helpful. Great for beginner to advanced climbers!
Small and old but no other options. Route setting was pretty basic. Good for kids parties and beginners but not much else. They do have a campus board and a training area. A system board would make this gym much better.
A fun place to visit or to climb regularly. Plenty of bouldering walls of all levels of difficulty, and numerous wall courses that they change every few months. The staff is friendly and helpful. Its cheaper to just boulder, but you can pay for a day pass to climb.Small gym attached; has bathrooms.
The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Ill be back...
Cool setup and very friendly/helpful staff!
Great experience. Nice and helpful staff. I took my wife and kids they love it.
Its pretty challenging.
While I am glad this gym exists, it could still improve in a couple key ways.1. There is no A/C.2. It is small but has lots of space. The building has plenty of space to expand. A decent bouldering area but walls could be built higher.3. No lead climbing.4. No showers.5. The price is a bit too high for what it is. 30 bucks a month would be reasonable.
The gym is good. Wish they had more adequate lighting, it can be hard to tell what color rocks are what. It wouldnt hurt to put a few more lights in. Also wish they had at least one auto-belay so that I could climb some of the bigger walls when Im by myself. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Very small and crowed but everyone was friendly and they had great routes
Staff have always been awesome to deal with. They’ve got some fun boulder problems. No A/C, which makes the sandbagged routes even harder, especially when you’re struggling to see if the hold is red or orange because of inadequate lighting.
Great local rock gym for climbers of all skill ranges. Great bouldering and top rope routes! Staff members are always willing to help. Pricing is very reasonable, would highly recommend a friend to climb at TRG.
Friendly and helpful staff who are all experienced and knowledgeable climbers. Tallahassee rock gym may not be Stone Summit or one of the flagship climbing gyms of the south, but the awesome community of climbers make up for what the gym lacks. The routes and problems range from beginner to expert; there are also hangboards, rope ladders and a yoga studio is in the works. Check it out if youre ever in the Tallahassee area!
Staff members could not be nicer!! When I started rock climbing I had almost a million questions, the answered all of them with a smile on there faces. I love that the holds are different every time I go.
Very cool little rock gym in a sweet little neighborhood
Great idea and location! I had lots of fun my first time and got to explore the local shops nearby after. I will be back tomorrow for more climbing and to purchase a membership!
Incredibly friendly staff and community. I felt at home on my first visit.
Colton, Nico, Liz, Alex, and Adrian are some of the kindest and most skilled employees i could ever hope to find running an establishment with such social and athletic potential. Dont be deterred by its looks; it is located in the railroad square business garden, and the facilities are old, but theyre made the most of, and the holds are always fresh and interesting. The problems are sandbagged a little, but its something youll grow to appreciate. This place is home to me more than my apartment is. Dont be a stranger, get to know the community here.
All the coolest people in Tally and an amazing place to learn to climb
So much fun!
Great place to exercise...the staff are awesome and very welcoming.
Fun climbs! Make sure you bring your drivers license!
Very friendly staff, great people, good vibes all around. Recommend to anyone
A perfect gym for getting into climbing. The staff is great and most of the people are friendly. TRG is the best!
Gotta get Belay certified!!!
Awesome time extremely challenging!
Love the vibe here. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Routes are changed frequently.
Fun people, good walls
Awesome experience. I am strongly considering buying the month or three month package. It really is the most fun way to exercise.
We recently had a six-year olds birthday party here. The party was not during public hours, which is perfect. The staff was great! They were great with the kids - extremely helpful and really encouraging. I would highly recommend TRG. Im not a climber so I cant speak to the rock-climbing experience, but overall the gym looked fun, there were tons of walls and rocks and it was an excellent venue for active kids. Its not fancy, but there were tables, benches, drinks and snacks for sale, and shoes and harnesses provided. Highly recommended!!
Great staff, ever changing routes. Bouldering, top roping, bathrooms, gear rental, amazing community of supportive gym membership.
Fantastic. Lovely staff. Always new routes. Bouldering and balet.
Staff friendly, theres no AC in the place and is dirty since smelly especially on the rocks (must be peoples sweat!). I would ask if they can put a shirt policy so guys dont climbs chest naked as their sweat and body fluids goes on the rocks making them smell bad plus it could spread disease. Would be nice if they did have one auto belay device. Prices are a little expensive from the little amount the gym offers (climbed at Jax Edge gym which is hundreds of times better, Tampa gym, and one in Gainesville before it closed). If they put more investment back into the gym more people would go to it probably or lowering their prices (offer an hour pass or something)
Great place to try rock climbing. Helpful and friendly staff!
This is really a great climbing place, especially for the size of the facilities and the size of the city. Besides challenging climbing routes and creative boulder problems, the gym offers campus boards, a hangboard or two, a Bachar ladder, and other additions to improve your climbing strength and fitness. Several strong setters have their roots at TRG. The staff take pride in what they do, and they are incredibly nice and helpful. In fact, this gym is known for its friendly community. Memberships are reasonably priced, and the owner is always looking to improve the facility and serve the clients better.
Everyone is very friendly and the staff are helpful! Love this place!
Tallahassee Rock Gym is a wonderful climbing facility with an even better community. It is my number one stop every time I go through Tallahassee- they have walls for everyone from beginners to experts!
I love Tallahassee Rock Gym and the awesome climbing community it fosters. The next best thing to outdoor climbing.
We had a great time at the Tallahassee Rock Gym. The staff were a great help, the prices were very fair and the amount of different climbs were fitted for every age group. I look forward to climbing here again soon.
Good setting, while small, makes the routes interesting to climb for some time
I always have a good time when I visit and the workers are always attentive.
After moving to Tally, I started looking for a place to work out and get some exercise. I found the rock gym through a friend and fell in love after my first visit. I was a regular until Christmas and took a month off to save up for a membership. Ive been once or twice a week EVERY week since then. The one disadvantage: stinky climbing shoes... :)
Very fun and good exercise but is very challenging for beginners
Great people, great routes, awesome atmosphere for a session or family outing
Knowledgeable and kind staff, excellent facility, and great prices!
Great place to climb and awesome people to meet!
What a fun place for all ages.
Awesome place!
Perfect Boulders and climbing place
Great wall and community of climbers in Tallahassee
Awesome!
