Just a beautiful example of PRE statehood architecture of a home build by a free black carpenter as a wedding gift for a white owner. Florida was awarded statehood after this house was built and the Knott family kept the original furnishings and wall paper (in the main hall only) when they gave the entire house to the government.Picture a home as a time capsule from 1928 to 1941! The outdoor kitchen and bath from the original 1843 home has been moved inside then left alone. Mrs. Knott did a great job decorating the house and even wrote poetry for many pieces of furniture. She was very active in prohibition and sufferage.Mr. Knott was in the government accounting. FREE admission but bring a good donation. It is worth the 2 plus hour guided tour.
Excellent tour. Holley was knowledgeable and patiently answered all our questions. The house was well preserved as was the contents.
Loved this place. We were killing time and stopped in. We went on the tour and had the best time. This is a great stop in Tallahassee ! Not crowded. Interesting. Knowledgeable tour guide. We just had a great time.
Great museum, just leave the kiddos at home.
Cute house with some neat history. Its worth it for this free 45 minute tour. Parking sucks, though. On Saturday I think its free to park at the meter so we did that.
Beautiful museum with a wonderful staff that is vastly knowledgeable of the history of this very important house.
Small museum with helpful kind staff. WWII a focus
A really cool place to visit!
Lovely historic family home. Our guide was excellent and we had a wonderful tour. Plus, it was FREE
Had a wonderful tour here recently..our guide was very well versed, and made our visit so enjoyable.
One of most historic place at the town, the artifacts was amazing and this is a very informative place to bring your child over, plus the staff is friendly and knowledgeable enough to entertain questions.
Awesome place to visit. Great little movie too start you off and know about the time period and family. Tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Best was it was free!!! Donations are appreciated.
Love this place! Full of history and stories. Beautiful historic home. Love Valentines day with the harp playing and the poetry readings. Swing dancing in the streets is fun too!
Cool history dull tour guide especially for the group of children
Went with my six year old to see the Xmas decorations, but she got antsy in the first room. Was assured there were other more kid friendly times to come, but I left the adults to a more mature tour and took her to the chain of parks outside instead :) Enjoyed what I saw...and we got to ride the elevator lol
Great guide.
Great tour guide. Lot of Tallahassee info
This place is awesome, it has a lot of history. I highly recommend you to visit.
Amazing Tour!
Is a very nice house to visit but is not toddlers friendly due to items and exhibitions close to reach ( we have toddler in stroller during guided tour) great for older children and adults.
Interesting, free, shows lifestyle features 100 years ago or more
Nice bit of history
Great visit, wonderful guide
My daughter and I watched the silent film feature there. Friendly staff.
Cool historic museum for cheap
I can never believe that every body died at the same time
