We love the Sharing Tree - the creativity and love that has gone into this place is very apparent. Its got such a variety of activities for various ages. One of my favorite places to take my four year old.

The first time I came in, I had a great experience and got some awesome stuff for my classroom. I went back today and had a different experience unfortunately. The sales clerk wouldn’t honor the sign on the shelf for $.50 for a roll of ribbon and wanted to count $3 towards my monthly budget for a small stack of paper. When I told her I would pass on the paper because I wanted to get the most out of my monthly budget, she told me “you realize this is free and now you’re trying to nickel and dime me?” I told her I wasn’t trying to nickel and dime her but that I could get a complete stack of construction paper at a retail store for $3 to which she told me “we’re a non-profit and you want to go spend your money to support a major corporation?” I realize people have bad days but this was over the top.

This is an amazing concept that is carried out in the best way. Teachers have a monthly budget for free classroom materials. Im retired now but visit to pick up craft materials. Best of all, I can donate things that I dont need that are still useful as classroom materials or for art projects. I dropped off some old calendars with lovely pictures today.
