Our visit to the Pantages Theater to see Lyle Lovett was so pleasant. Compared to doing anything in Seattle, it was so easy!We parked on the street three blocks from the theater for $0.95. It was a short walk to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory, where there was no wait. The theater itself is amazingly ornate. There is not a bad seat in the building. My only complaint was that it became uncomfortably warm in the mezzanine where we were seated. We will certainly be back to see future shoes, only this time, we leave the warm clothes at home. The sheer simplicity of a night out at the Pantages was a huge plus, and an experience that can no longer be had in Seattle.
This is a fabulous theater to catch a musical! The original theater theme and decor is gorgeous and rich. Ive seen a few shows from various vantage points. Not a bad seat in the house. Good location in Tacoma, close to restaurants and shops. Make a weekend of it!
Great theater. Clean bathrooms my only complaint is that the chairs are not high enough to see over the people in front of you and they dont have the chairs off set so you are seated between the 2 people in front of you. So if you are behind someone big and tall you are going to have a hard time seeing.
The pantages theater is great. The one down side is the way the seats are set up. Im 63 so I was literally blocking the view of the people behind me. It mostly depends on what your going to go see. The theater itself doesnt take anything away from the show.
Amazing alternative to going to the movies. I was worried about the play being in Italian, but they have a screen with English captions and a booklet that provided the storyline for each act. My honey and I saw Tosca. #noregrets
Still is the same as it was when I came here as a kid. And thats a great thing. The staff was nothing less than professional. My son and myself had a very good time. Thank you for staying true Pantages
Its an old very much loved and well taken care of location. There is a lot of local dining to enjoy around the theater for a great complete evening.
Sat in the Mezzanine center stage. Front row. Limited leg room. Seats comfortable.but with limited elbow room...airplane size. Good acoustics.
Really beautiful theater that has helpful staff to help you find your way around during performances. The concessions stands are pricey and slow moving. The bar tenders are untrained and incapable of making basic cocktails without instructions from the patrons. You will be required to dump out your beverage before leaving the building.
Great theater with AMAZING employees. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you!
Its well-aged in its years. More neat and cozy if you like sitting in what feels sort of cramped in the amphitheater area. The chairs on the first floor are somewhat old and Im not entirely enthusiastic about them. The acoustics are good, the stage is immaculate, just a gem in the theater district.
The Pantages is a jewel in Tacoma. We are so lucky to have a thriving theater district and art community!
Gorgeous renovation. Comfy seats. Good acoustics. Nice size venue.
Tight quarters for seating. Stunning theater! Great performances
Nice and clean, and not rundown. Staff is friendly and helpful... Not a bad seat in the house...
First time visit to see Duke Ellington and was very pleasantly surprised to see the beauty of theater ...and stage magnificent. Two thumbs up way high!!!!!
Saw the Dracula Ballet, it was a nice fun experience. The ability to drink while watching is definitely great.
Saw Choir of Man. Awesome!! Pantages has fantastic shows!
Beautiful historic theater. They dont build them like this anymore.
Beautiful venue, only wish the balcony box seats were open.
Love this place. A beautiful blend of a modernization around a historic building that maintains the historic feel
Our Granddaughters dance recital along with several hundred other youth. Parking is available but we park in the Tacoma Link Dome Station and the train takes you right there. No worries about parking. Sweet!
The theatre has stunning interiors, but if you make the mistake of getting the front row seats, youll be at licking distance from the stage !!! I dont know what on earth prompted them to put these seats in an awkward angle adjacent to the stage but it was very uncomfortable!!! I never thought Id say I would have enjoyed the back row seats better!
Sat on the main floor for a show. The seats were tiny and very uncomfortable. People sitting in front of us ruined our view, not that it was their fault. The floor isnt graded enough to see over the person in front of you. And it was very warm. We left at intermission.
We went to the comedy, THE DEPLORABLES. We had a great time and laugh from beginning to the end. The facility was nice and comfortable and the fact that they had adult beverages along with food that you could take to your seat made it that much more enjoyable.
Beautiful old theater and the opera Tosca was lovely!
Saw India Arie & Black Violin here and the staff and sound quality was impeccable
Love this theater which was renovated recently and kept its charm. Seating and view of the stage is good. There is a bar on the ground and second floors for snacks and adult beverages. Parking on street or nearby parking garage
Bring your own snacks and water but great theater otherwise
My 1st time there, beautiful place loved the architecture, and Duke Ellington was great
New renovations look very nice. Center aisle makes all the difference for entry/exit. New seats are comfortable...unless someone is right next to you. Plenty of seat space, nowhere near enough shoulder space. Spent the whole evening trying to retract my arms so I wasnt on top of the people next to me.
Beautiful. Feels like a broadway theater
Beautiful step back in time to the old grandeur
Went and saw Spamalot! If you are a Monty Python fan I would highly recommend going and seeing this. I was blown away by not only the show but the talent as well.I gave it four stars because the seats are worse than what you would expect in an airplane in coach. For such a beautiful venue it seems like they could have done some better seating.
Easy to find. Wonderful staff. Clean Bathrooms. Brand new seats in this place and comfortable. Beautiful theater
Very intimate small theater with great show .
What a beauty! Week done! Excellently refurbished. Reminds of a smaller Davies hall experience!
Really enjoyed seeing Lyfe...The staff was amazing. Cool peeps!
Great acoustics and beautiful decor.
A wonderful venue. Great acoustics and decor. For me, the only drawback is that the seats are narrow.
Revamped theatre space is very comfortable
A most incredible and VERY beautiful theater.
Pantages is a great theater. Bands or speakers, all have sounded excellent. We have walked out of a show at the Paramount in Seattle. We have stayed for complete shows at Pantages. Parkeding is easy as well.
The volunteer ushers are always so accommodating! The handicapped seating was a regular seat, the usher put my clients wheelchair in the coatroom and returned to us after the performance and also assisted to the lobby. The new dance floor was cool for those whom wanted to dance to performer Shorty and his trombone, the announcer said 5-7 minutes for each person on the dance floor to accommodate others, not all complied, so it made it frustrating at times for the ushers whom where sitting on stools on the floor to get some to leave. Also the instuments were louder than the singers a bit hard to hear the words singing, sound board person needed to do a better sound check. Overall a great performance and by the opening band.
Gorgeous theater, we saw a performance of the nutcracker here that was beautifully done. Great sound, lighting and the works. Fun to have a glass of wine during the show or breaks. Parking was what you would expect for a downtown region, expect to park on the street a few blocks away. I believe the parking was free where we found a spot, which was nice.
Great aesthetic, intimate architecture & beautiful location in downtown Tacoma. A must visit location for anybody in the area who enjoys theatre.
Great place to see a show!
Rent was an awesome show i enjoyed it very much
We saw Take Six at the Pantages. The theater renovation is truly beautiful. The sound and lighting were both excellent. The volunteer ushers were helpful and knowledgeable.
The show and view was excellent but the seats could be better
Beautifully restored theater.Pleasant and helpful staff. Saw Ailey II .. Superb!
Went to lyfe Jennings concert was the best and the theater was amazing
I work for this events and they have really great venue perfect for parties and celebrations!
Beware of Tacoma City parking. They are predatory. The theatre itself was just okie. Seats a bit too small, stage lighting seemed to take away from experience, and, the music group was nice, but I really enjoyed the performances in Gig Harbor in all ways. Halfway through the city performance, police sirens were audible from the street...and somehow were almost in resonance with music score. I used to be a piano tuner, and overall, I think while the restoration of the theatre is nice, I was expecting more.
Saw Lewis Black here on January 12, 2019. Was a Saturday night and parking was a bit of a hassle. Hubby needs handicap parking and theres very few spaces available. What should have been available, 3 spots in fact, unfortunately, was taken up by a tour bus!!! We eventually found parking in the parking garage which is very close to the theater. We were able to walk across the skywalk to the theater. Thankfully hubby is still able to walk short distances but if he had to go much further, wed have a real problem. This was my first time at Pantages and its a beautiful old building with not a bad seat in the house. My only complaint was the seats are fairly close together and I was feeling a bit squished. Hubby is 510, 250, the guy next to me on the other side was probably 58 and 160....Im just 55 and 110 lbs. I hope that paints a pretty good picture! At one point I said to the gent next to me that I had a lap he could use as well. He was leaning so far into me and I felt like the middle seat in economy with a couple of sumo wrestlers on either side. Okay, so after that all being said, we really enjoyed the show and the acoustics were great. Lines for concessions were a bit long so we passed on that. After the show, trying to find, much less get to, the ladies room was impossible. After asking security, he made it sound like it was an act of extreme athleticism so...I passed on that too and stopped at a gas station.Overall, a great venue with no bad seats but drink and eat and use the restrooms prior to the show. Happy new year and new experiences folks!
Have been to numerous events, from quaint Shawn Colvin and Mary Chappen Carpenter, Niko Case,to Cirque Soleil, to various Nut Crackers versions, concerts...Have taken people from 3 yrs old to mid 80s. Handicapped accessible and much better with parking over the yrs. Very enjoyable and waiting for the next thing to catch our fancy.
Great venue to take in a show. I love the classic historic look. Lots of good seats. Parking can be a challenge as it is mostly street parking and Tacoma wants to charge you if it is too early in the day. Whether taking in a Warren Miller ski movie or a Broadway show, its a great place to go.
It was great I went their for a field trip and it was great everything sounded good and its very fancy
Beautiful theater! Great show--Oz!Nice new seats too, BUT, the seats are way too narrow for todays average sized patrons. Good leg room, but not enough shoulder room making totally uncomortable as we had to seat either sideways, or take turns overlapping our arms over each other. The spacing room between seats have not changed since the 20s I am sure when folks were shorter and smaller in stature. That being said, I just cant fathom going back.
They just finished a 25 million dollar remodel. So beautiful and restored to 1918. New soundsystem and seats and you cant beat a double wine in a plastic tumbler you can take to your seat
Love working here and attending shows
Got my tickets for Todrick Halls Forbidden Tour kind of at the last minute. Figured we would be in the nosebleed seats, but no we were so close I could almost touch him! This is a very intimate venue and so cool that all the Retro touches havent been taken down and modernized.
Any seat provides great view of stage. Arrive early for free parking on Street.
Beautiful bldg, great seats
So glad they kept and restored this amazing theatre! Perfect.
I saw Trombone Shorty in early 2019. The acoustics were great and the inside architecture was spectacular!
So very nice after the recent refurb!Authentically restored, and like they promised, the seats are more comfortable. Some ingress/egress issues to get to some of the loge & mezzanine seats.Still the best sound IMHO of any of the Tacoma music venues. I just saw Trombone Shorty last Friday and even at high volumes, my old ears could still hear everything and everyone.Do not hesitate to get in line at intermission if you dont want to miss any of the show. The lines are usually long but you do get a good five minutes warning before the show starts agajn.
Great historic location but lousy seating and amenities. Good sightlines from every seat in the house. Friendly house staff and house management with excellent customer focus. Moderately priced events typical downtown parking. Nearby garages are essential and fairly reasonably priced.
Over priced seats to sit way up top in a very crowded section while the bottom remained empty and the seats are so close together theres absolutely zero room to move around
If you havent been to the Pantages, you better get your butt down there. Beautiful theatre and tons of great events being hosted there. I love going there and all the other Broadway venues such as the Rialto and the Theatre On The Square.
First show Ive been to it wasnt too bad. The wife is the theater buff, and she loved it. The actors they had were very good, even managed to keep my attention through out most of the show. Carmen
Very nice venue. Chairs are a little bit uncomfortable
Love the remodel. Comfortable seats and greats shows at a good price
Great performances. Newly renovated. Beautiful.
Seats are snug in this beautifully restored theater. Nice venue.
Beautiful theater!! seats are a tad small.
The only concern was they needed another opening act. There was too much time in between acta
Gorgeous theatre!! Great performacne by tacoma symphony!
Hip Hop Nutcracker was an awesome show! Beautiful theater. Will be back!
If you have the chance to go here, please do! The place is beautiful!!
We saw Lewis Black. Great venue for it! Long concession lines.
Renovations were quite an improvement. However, listening to the Tacoma Concert Band helped, the best.
Beautiful renovation.
So pretty, lots of parking in the neighborhood, friendly staff...Had a great time here!
Beautiful inside. The seating is very snug. Watched 3-4 shows there. Great experience each time!
