A must for anyone who loves history, and particularly local history. So many displays and original items with plenty of information. Be sure to stop by the gift shop, too! A lot of great finds there.
The 2020 Christmas ornament is beautiful. But no 2021 Syracuse or Onondaga calendar. Maybe next year.
The Ghost Walk was so much fun.
Very amazing things to learn.
OHA is a must for anyone who lives in central New York! The staff is absolutely wonderful and the museum itself shows so many phenomenal things that you never even thought of. Its a great resource for anyone researching Central New York history. We know that much of our history lies within the Native American population but when you see how Syracuse was built and why it was built and how the surrounding area developed and what it was like in the old days is absolutely wonderful!
We recently attended a Ghost Walk in Liverpool sponsored by the OHA, which made us curious about what else the place had to offer, so we stopped by to visit. The Ghost Walk was so much fun: interesting characters from Liverpool History, like Mayor Heid, and a willow basket maker, told us their stories and wove interesting facts into well-performed (and often funny) first person histories. We walked from location to location led by a tour guide. The OHA itself is packed with treasures from Onondaga County history, and has a great gift shop. Evidently they run programs all year long, including a recent Paranormal visit in the building which we missed.
