Funny how this is listed as an archaeological site but most of the terrain in the park has been destroyed by the mountain biking club. Everywhere there is holes dug for jumps that havent been filled in or half-butt filled in with sticks, (which does nothing if someone falls in) what makes it worse is they keep cutting down perfectly healthy trees to build their jumps when there is a perfectly good petrified wooded area in the park. Some trails have already been shut down because of them. You cant even walk safely anymore its a shame

So many vines, but a nice walk. Would recommend to park at the JR High school. Enjoy!

Fun hike. Lots of rocks and ledges that the kids loved climbing. Massive amounts of glass on the trail huge disappointment in humans...be careful if your hiking with pups...

I wish I could find it. Tried going there for a hike and my gps brought me to a church parking lot. There are no signs for Abrams Rock anywhere. Great job Swansea, guess you dont like visitors.

Abrams rock, also known as Village Park, is a great little place in Swansea. I mostly go to mountain bike, theres a lot of trails packed into a relatively small area. Theres a few cool trail features in there such as seesaws and boardwalks, and I always get in a fun ride when Im there. There is an outer loop trail, thats about three miles if you do the whole thing, and then theres a lot of trail inside the loop. Most of the inside trails are short and winding all seem to connect, I compare that place to a bowl of spaghetti.Theres a few good climbs in there if youre into that sort of thing, and also there are a few fun to descents. Some of the cooler things are kind of hard to find, theres a trail called Superman thats a blast if you can find it. Theres also some large rock formations toward the center of the area, those are fun to ride up, or if youre hiking you could hike up them as well. Its also a popular place to hike and bring dogs. I actually went with my two dogs yesterday, we went for short hike on the outer trail that follows the shoreline of the pond, and then they went swimming in the pond. That was the highlight of the trip, we found a nice place for them to access the pond and they had a ball swimming around and chasing a tennis ball.Just a couple of warnings, if youre there in the summertime, it tends to get grown in and is very buggy. Also, be careful of the mountain bikers. This is a very popular spot to ride, and while the mountain bikers are generally courteous and will give anyone on foot the right-of-way, sometimes its hard to see them around blind corners or a narrow trails, and they may be approaching at a fairly High degree of speed. Is also a decent amount of wildlife in there, Ive seen deer and wild turkeys at times in there.

Good spot for a hike or MTB ride. Trails are in good shape and have challenges for almost any rider. You might have to run a few different loops on the same trails to get the longer miles. Some wooden structures are starting to decay and might not be rideable.

It was naturally beautiful but the trash, broken glass, and graffiti were terrible. I have a young child and a dog and the glass was so bad we had to turn around several times. So unsafe! Who cares for this park?

Abrams Rock is a major feature in part of the Swansea Town Village hiking trails. It is accessable by taking the trails starting in the back parking lot between the Swansea Town Hall and The Swansea Town Library. Here you will find a sign with a map and at times maps available. I believe maps may also be available in the library and possible the town hall. The rock itself is huge and can be climbed as well as walked up depending on the side you take to the top. At the top you can view Swansea and Somerset and the surrounding areas. There are miles of trails here and ranging from flat to hilly and wooded. These trails, Abrams rock and Wildcat Rock can also be accessed from behind the Joseph Case Jr. High School which also borders the Swansea dam as well as a second dam further down the trail. If you take the Jr. High trails, not far from the beginning of the trail is a hidden soccer field which is fenced all the way around which is used by the students. Follow it further and it will take you to the second dam.Along with the rock features, the trails are used for hiking, dog walking, mountain biking, fishing and horseback riding. It can get buggy so bring repellent. The only drawback is that many of the trails are not marked or minimally marked. You have to pay attention not to get lost if you wander too deep. Youre never too far from civilization so if you do happen to lose your way its shouldnt be for too long.A nice way to spend a little time with nature and decompress!

Hidden gem behind the library. Trails are not well marked, so it is easy to get turned around, and confused... There are several large rock formations in the park.get a trail map from the library or bikefit across from the swansea mall.
