My daughter has been at Twisters for seven years. She LOVES gymnastics and even more she loves the coaches and the friendships she has made at Twisters. As a parent, my biggest concern has been injury. I give full credit to her coaches for their skill and methodology, that she has stayed healthy for all these years. Allan’s philosophy is wholistic, teaching life skills, love of fitness, teamwork, discipline, hard work, etc. without overtraining the athletes. Since the gym switched to “Xcel only” my daughter trains half the amount of hours per week, but she is more focused during the short practices, continues to make steady progress on learning new skills, and is more balanced in her life (more time for schoolwork and friends). My daughter is in tenth grade now and the skills she has learned at the gym make her a better student, and more adept at handling her mindset with life’s challenges outside the gym. She also carries herself with confidence; she knows she is strong and fit and she is proud of herself.I have always harbored reservations about gymnastics. I had misconceptions about the culture, the injuries, body image issues, and I didn’t consider it a team sport. Seeing my daughter truly thrive in gymnastics, on all levels, and witnessing so many girls thrive through their experience at Twisters, after many years, has brought me to a full conversion. I now believe every child would benefit from gymnastics. I think the people you bring into your child’s life are more important than any circumstance, and Twisters hires fantastic coaches across the board. If your child is one of the very lucky to train with Allan or Ericka, your child will be blessed by the experience.Off to drive my daughter to gym....
Below is our yelp reviewEmbed reviewEdit review1.0 star rating 3/2/2017 Updated reviewWhy does a great place with good staff let mean a coach spoil the place? Coach Nicole had my 12 year daughter in tears. I will confront and update when I find out why but that is BS!!!So employee Nicole defended herself by accusing my daughter of rolling her eyes and not listening. My daughter does not do this and Nicole the first instructor to have ever said this!! Today my kid left our home a happy person and came from gymnastics sad.Delete review3.0 star rating 10/10/2016 Previous review Thanks Liliana for the great shout out for Salahs vault!! Liliana One of the instructors uses positive motivation for ALL the students. We checked a few of the gymnastic gyms in our local Sunnyvale area and found this gym to have the best instructors and equipment in the south bay. I was actually impressed with all the instructors, I later found out that this gym has produced Olympic contenders! I really recommend this gym, The rates are reasonable a real thumbs up. Shout out For coach Dana who is the gymnastics whisper she knows just what to say in a calm nurturing manner, and coach Nicole who has a lot of dynamic energy how ever uses to much negative criticism. My son has taken taekwondo instruction from Jericho for two years now. I am very pleased with the results. Jericho is a great teacher - respectful, fun but firm, a great communicator and very very patient. My son started slowly but has really accelerated in recent months and is learning so much each week. In addition to the martial arts instruction, Jericho has a great mentor approach with the kids which reinforces the importance of being a good student, classmate and citizen. Thank you to Jericho and the rest of the team at Twisters!
We had taken up the red party package for our daughters birthday. The first hour of gymnastics was fantastic. All kids loved it. It was a lot of different activities in many rooms but it was done in a safe manner. The instructor went through warmup for the kids and kept them interested. Kids who hadnt tried gymnastics in the past were able to pick up the activities easily. Highly recommended.
My daughter has been involved in Twisters program for 6 years now and I can say that weve been really happy here. Shes been steadily moved up throughout the years and the communication with the team staff is really quite good. Weve had regular meetings throughout the years and my wife and Is input is always valued. We dont always agree with some decisions and shes had her ups and downs in this sport, but I think its the nature of competitive gymnastics. Shes done very well competitively here and the staff is always approachable and engaged. I feel like shes really cared about and thats the most important thing for us.
Great low-key gymnastics training that isnt full of high pressure or unreasonable expectations. The coaching staff is great with the kids and the office staff are very helpful
Twisters is an incredible facility, the coaches and staff create a very positive atmosphere. Ive been training here for about 5 years and taught for about a year. I train with Team Loopkicks, we hold classes and open gym sessions weekly. Twisters is awesome, they have given us the opportunity to teach other people how to trick, as well as host our annual summer camp. Twisters has a huge space and tons of equipment, it is a very ideal place to train. I highly recommend you try this gym out if youre in the bay area!
Our family has had a positive experience with Twisters recreational gymnastics. Our 5yo son loved his classes with Nathan, who has a very positive, engaged approach with young kids. Our daughter continues to show progress. Both Liliana and Utana have been very responsive to the changing needs of our family and worked with us on fit and scheduling for the kids.
Community oriented. They actually seem to care about the parents whether in rec or competitive. Very different from a competitor.
Pretty good preschool gymnastics. Our daughter has fun and gets her wiggles out.
My daughter comes here and she loves it. She is in Xcel Silver and might be moving up to Xcel gold. She broke her toe a month ago and had to do some hard conditioning, but she didnt quit. She would never quit. ever.
Twisters sports has a nice and friendly environment with plenty of room to improve and learn more skills.
Recreational gymnastics for a wide age range. Good at supporting multiple classes at the same time - a logistics saver for families.
If youre looking for a positive gym environment in the Bay, look no further.
My family has participated in many Twisters activities including summer camps, competitive and recreational gymnastics, rock climbing, and briefly Tae Kwon Do. Weve had and attended birthday parties there as well. We find the Twisters team friendly, professional and very safety conscious. Please note that they are not, however, ridiculous in their approach to safety -- being really active in any sport has an element of danger to it. Testing your body, learning what it can do and how to get it to do it, is not easy and its not always 100% risk free. Having said that, Twisters coaches can help children get strong enough and skilled enough to do some amazing things safely. It is a fascinating and thrilling thing to watch and I bet an even more incredible thing to experience. Go Twisters!!!
Safety first and coaches that have been with the program for a long time. Not overly crowded.
After going to the gym for over two years, we finally left. Our daughters skills were not fostered; she basically was stagnant in her gymnastics development (though she gained strength). Although she placed 2nd in the all-arounds, and 1st to 7th in all disciplines during testing week, she was not allowed to go on the pre-team. What a waste of time and potential.
Great staff. Outdated base and equipment
Been here since i was 7. LOVE IT!!!
Great coaching experience.
