I absolutely love this place! I was here 2 hrs everyday! Doing workout classes from spinning, yoga, boot camp, swimming, Zumba! My kids love it here. My eldest was in the bitty ball team. She enjoyed it so much she got a trophy at the end of the season! Unfortunately we relocated and I tried getting into YMCA here in Fayetteville but its no where as good as Sumter YMCA

I never used my membership so I decided to cancelled. When I signed up I was told to make sure a cancellation was done on the 1st of the month so I wouldnt get charged. I called on the 1st and was told I was to late and had to be charged another billing cycle of $73 but after that, I would be done. Fast forward to the next month and I got charged again. I confirmed it was their error and I would get my funds back. It has been a week and nothing returned to me. Im leaving messages about it with Patricia Anderson who initially tried to argue with me that it was not their error but quickly saw otherwise but Im not getting return calls. Im beyond frustrated. This money is bill money for me and I need it back ASAP!!! Looks like a dispute with my bank is in order. Be cautious if you decide to cancel. Make sure you do it BEFORE the 1st and put a stop payment on your bank account or you will likely experience the same issue.

Need a health services membership just to get a towel from the front desk. Most go there for classes or working out on the gym equipment so this is slightly rediculous. Basically its bring a towel from home, upgrade to a $52 membership or just let the sweat run down your face. Some of the front desk staff can be rude as well making getting questions answered difficult.

So I wish their hours were like 24/7 but its the y so I guess its too be expected. It can be really crowded around 5-6:30 sometimes 7 ish..I havent been able to go in the morning when they first open so not sure how it is at that time. Love that they have a scholarship through the open doors program that anyone can apply for. Being that Im extremely self conscious going to the gym gives me all kinds of anxiety but everyone I have met has been really welcoming. The group classes I have attended so far have been great as well. Their summer program is awesome my son loves it. So far its a cool gym lots of equipment to use but like I said can get a bit crowded in the evening hours. All in all its a good place to go to get your feet wet if your new to the gym setting.

When I walk in the building I always get a hello and Good Morning! They serve coffee for a little while in the morning witch is pretty kool! Their locker rooms are clean and tidy. The machines are clean and always have the right cleaning supply’s available to clean after a workout. They have tones of activities you and your family can participate with through the year. I personally love Missy Corrigan .. She stays involved in the community and she is always trying to find more ways to help. Missy is always there to help with anything I or my business needs! Great place to workout and an even better place to have fun with my family!

Admin personnel/robots have been programmed by skynet to repeat policy rather than communicate and solve problems like rational human beings. Pay particular attention to how their billing works especially with cancellation. Must be in person and 30 days in advance. No exceptions. No refunds. Deploying, PCSing, or going tdy? Doesnt matter. Nothing quite like being billed an extra month for a service you cant use any longer.

Staff is friendly but not in your face. My elder aunt says they are very helpful to her in showing her which machines are best for adults that move a bit slower, or need speed limited treadmills. Nice people, easy to join, but membership cancellation policy is pretty poor-- no matter what date of the month your payment is scheduled for they can not cancel auto-draft during that month, and you must go in person and cancel your membership the month before your last payment is to be drafted. This was not made clear at any point until I went to cancel my membership with more than two weeks until next auto draft. I will apparently be paying for an additional month because of this policy. Disappointing.

I really dont have anything bad to say about them except its stupid to close the pool for swim lessons I mean its a big pool u dont need all of that space the lessons can be on 3-4 feet and the swimmers who came here to swim they can get in 5feet and if they dont know how to swim they can join the lessens how hard is that

I had a party here for my son as a nonmember (meaning I paid A LOT for 10 kids to come and jump in a bounce house).Decor is included in this huge fee. My son is obsessed with cats and wanted nothing more than a cat party, so when they called to discuss the theme the week before the big day, I made it very clear how important the decor was and if for any reason they couldnt find gender neutral cat decor, to just let me know and I would happily buy it off amazon to have it in time for the party (I volunteered to cover the cost of this even though it was covered in the party fee)I was reassured how amazing the director was and how she would be able to find whatever I needed. So, since I never heard back from them after this contact, I figured they had successfully found cat themed decor. Day of the party we show up, everything is black and gold theme, for an EIGHT year olds bday??! No cats, no effort whatsoever. I filled out the post party survey honestly and of course never even heard back from them with even an apology. NEVER again will I be scammed like this place did me! They ruined my sons day.

Funny how this establishment was created as a non profit organization for the community and yet just to use the pool for basic exercise, you need to pay $25 sign up fee plus $40 a month. I work to pay my bills and sustain barely above poverty life style. I cant afford that, especially when i rarely ever get the free time to swim in the first place. the one in new Mexico and Washington state allowed free access to the pool and gym. you could rent out there equipment or get a membership for their youth program, why is this one trying to rip people off? its disgraceful to know its fallen this bad.

It really depends on the day with this place. Originally we signed up to workout there and take my daughter to swim classes. We paid extra for the upgraded womens locker room but then found out I couldnt even bring my toddler in there with me. The other locker rooms often have clothes, diapers or toilet paper on the floors. Once we cancelled our membership due to unuse the staff didnt care at all about us. I reentered my daughter for swim classes only and no one ever has any information at the front desk and the people that can answer questions never get back to you. The service was subpar while we were members and its awful now that we cancelled.

The YMCA Is Trash Now. Every Time I Go, The Basketball Gyms Are Constantly Being Taken Over. This Is MY Membership. I PAY For This Memebership. The Basketball Floors Have Become A Tragedy. A DISCRACE. A WALKING ABOMINATION. The YMCA Was A Place Where I Would Cry If I Couldnt Come, Now When I Come I Cant Even Play. And Im Not Speaking For Just Myself. Im Speaking For ALL Basketball Players Who Come To The Y. Its Been 17 Years Since I Started Coming To The Y. Change Your System. Get It Done. And The People Who Work Theres Are So Disrespectful. They Could Careless About Our Opinions Or Feelings. So Much For A Christian Facility Right ?

This is a long review but I wanted to share the full story. My major issue with this place is the management. But before I start off with the bad here are the good features of this placePro: decent equipment at the gym, fairly clean, good large and small group exercise programs and a wide selection of activities and fairly courteous staff.Cons: expensive . You have to pay a membership fee of $50 and then the package you select will determine the monthly fee. I have two kids, so I selected the family plan which is $63 per month. If you dont go to the gym for 90days you lose your membership and have to pay the $50 again. You can put your membership on hold.Biggest Issue Management: 2 incidents left a bitter taste in my mouth about this facility.Last summer I signed up and paid for my son (3years old at the time) to go to swimming lessons. On the first day of swimming we were heading to the carto go to the swimming class and he was running ( he was so excited ) and he fell on the concrete and got some nasty bruises on both knees. After cleaning him up I immediately called to inform them that he fell and got two nasty open wounds and wanted to know if they could let him join the class further down . I told the lady I DiD Not want a refund just put him in a later batch. She said no the only way they could do it is if I took him to the doc and got a medical report. I told her that the big open wounds were there and very visible so why do I need a doctors note . She insisted that is what I needed. What compounded my annoyance is that there is a sign that clearly states that if you have any open wound you are unable to use the pool . I said this to her and she still insisted that I needed to take him to the doctor and get a note. Of course I did not take him. I paid $45 for the class and it would cost me more than that to see the doctor. I just stood the lost. The 2nd incident happened more recently. Late last year I had to put my membership on hold because of a high risk pregnancy. I spoke to the lady at the front and she was great . We sign up the paper work and all and ask if I needed something from my doctor she said no . In October 2017 I had an emergency C-section and so that added to my time away from the gym . I called the gym and spoke to them and explained that my 90days would pass etc they said when I am ready to return I needed to speak to the manager. Between slow recovery and busy schedule of a baby I did not lift my head above water until June2018. When. I was ready I called and spoke to the manager Patricia Anderson. Of course I explained that I was pregnant and had a C Section and so i was away for more than 90days. I told her I wanted to return but needed her to waive the $50 to join the gym again. I offered to provide her with a copy of my medical report. She said no . If I was 30days over she could waive it so I had to pay the $50 again. I was very upset. How could you not understand that a high risk pregnancy and a C Section would keep someone out of the gym for more than 90days. In my opinion she needed to extend some discretion.

EDIT: To be fair I am back to edit my review regarding the warm water pool to say they have cleaned it up tremendously. School is in progress now so there are fewer kids in the pool which helps too. So if they can maintain this level of cleanliness year round that would be great! FYI, I noticed another reviewer stated the warm water pool is for floating and water jogging but they do have some really good aquatic classes and there is always at least one lane roped off for lap swimming.ORIGINAL: I go for the pool. Due to my arthritis I like to use the warm water pool but it is always so nasty with what looks like fecal matter at the bottom of the pool daily. The cool water pool looks clean but sometimes the water is downright cold. I cant say I recommend this Y if youre going to use the warm water pool
