We are novice hikers and we’re really disappointed in the amount of direction you get in this park. Trying to pick a trail and get started was a head scratcher. Once we were well into the trail we would find stations with maps, but no “you are here” information. 2 hours into the hike with water up to our ankles it was obvious if we couldn’t figure this out for ourselves we were screwed. Thank you Jesus we had compasses loaded on our phones. What a “crap shoot”. Probably won’t be back.
There are 3 hiking trails. The North Loop, the South Loop and the Blue trail. The north and south loop are mostly sand trails, with the north loop having much more shade. These two trails do not actually loop themselves but create a loop together. Your feet will get wet trying to get to where they meet together. The blue trail is much more challenging and the trail has areas that are not well marked. I walked in water well above my knees on this trail, so it is not for the faint of heart. I walked the south loop to the blue trail to the north loop and it was about an 8k hike. (You can hike the south loop directly to the north loop as well, or vice-versa.)I did this hike in October. In January the water may not be so much of a problem.
Really cool well-marked trails through the FL sand scrub.
Very niceCozy place
Fast service great food
Nice music Wednesday night
Nice park. Clean. Wide walking and bicycle paths.
Great place to relax.
Great for biking and hiking peaceful quiet And lwildlife to see specially Turtles.Continuing on you can get to the beach. On Jupiter Island
While I did not see the elusive Scrub Jay this is the perfect habitat for them. I will be back to find one!
Great running trails. Quiet, really well kept up.Favorite place to run
If you enjoy walking as much as I do - you will love this place !
Great park for walking, hiking, or bike riding.Helped me lose 50 lbs.
Great Park for walking running or biking, my wife and go biking there. The only issue we have is the parking only 5 paved parking spaces the rest of the parking is in the dirt. Be great if the Parks Dept could put down shell rock or rock in that area. Keep sand out of are vehicles and bikes.
Nice and quiet. Easily accessible via bike path or roads. Nice loop trail plus lots of sandy roads. East side of loop trail a little swampy and could use a boardwalk and better marking.
Medium difficulty trails, lots of sun, beautiful preserve.
Was a nice park to have a day hike.be prepared for sun not much shade on these trails.
Beautiful place if you love the outdoors
This little hidden gem is set off the beaten path right where old dixie crosses over the rail road tracks in Stuart. The hiking trails are very pretty, as is the bike trail (concrete). Great place for photography, a nice walk, or bike ride. One of my favorite places.
This hike begins rather slowly, then as you proceed the diversity opens up. Gopher tortoise abound. Bike path south to Hobe Sound is great.
Beautiful park with a concrete walking, biking, skating path. Great for dog walks or taking the kids somewhere same to ride without traffic.
Great for a motorcycle ride to! Beautiful beaches, traffic was good.
Great locationLoved the natural setting. Gotta love the bugs
This Florida state park is over 1,000 acres along the Intracoastal Waterway south of Stuart. It has four miles of hiking trails over several different natural communities including sand pine scrub, scrubby flat woods,a baygall and a mangrove swamp. The baygall community is one of the rarest in Florida. It is a swampy habitat containing loblolly bay and sweetbay which act as filters for the run off water from the scrubby flatwoods. This helps to keep clean the water flowing into the Indian River Lagoon. The north trail loop is 3.2 miles of sand trail that winds like a maze through the scrub. The south loop is 1.9 miles and parallels the intracoastal but you cant see it.Bikers can ride on the East Coast Greenway, a paved path running from the parking lot into Hobe Sound. The preserve offers protection to the threatened Florida Scrub Jays and gopher tortoises. There is a restroom and benches adjacent to the parking lot but there is absolutely no shade for the trails. In 90 degree weather it was brutal. I walked a small portion of the north trail but it was difficult because its soft sand. There was a evidence of a recent fire. There are so many nicer places to hike with shade and water views in this area. I appreciate that this preserve is protecting vulnerable wildlife but I wouldnt even attempt to hike it unless it was in the winter.
Seemed like a great place for a walk, it was a beautiful day out, the walkway was clear and easy to traverse. The view of the surrounding trees was less than what was expected. Looked more like ground zero from a atomic blast, or maybe a hurricane I would presume, but some were charred from fire. After a nice walk I headed back to the car, I stopped at the restroom, I lifted the toilette seat, a swarm of insects were in and around, so I left immediately. I would recommend this park for a nice walk, but not for the asthetics or nice views. And definitely not for the restrooms.
Great nature park. Has trails for hiking, also has a sidewalk for a leisure walk or bike ride. Connects to Gomez and Dixies sidewalks for extended exercises.
I love exploring at this State park I’m always finding new places is always clean and adventurous!
Very good walking/biking path. Such a scenic and peaceful place to be.
Love nature. This spot is for you.
Great paths for walking dogs
Great place to walk and unwind and just think
A bit hot and exposed at some spots, but overall a great exercise trail.
1000 acres 95% fenced in except behind River Pines Complex in my back yard which allows wild pigs on the property and onto cove road. Something has to be done. If you heard a pig screaming in a trap like I do you would help me get this fence completed.
It depends on why you visit this park whether or not its for you. I liked the smaller trails, more interesting foliage and critters. If you want to walk or run. I recommend the larger trails. But as in other posts, bring sunscreen and water if you plan on walking the larger trails. Its a very sandy trail and I ended up with shoes full of it. I stayed on the larger trail for a short period of time because its a bit desolate. Signs need to be better, more details. If youre looking for beach or water access, good luck because I never found it and based on the photos I though I would. I wont return unfortunately. There are better parks.
Beautiful, beautiful beautiful park.... Could stay all day
Great Trails for bike rides or long walks you will see turtles
Lots of trails to walk. The park ranger told me I could run into both poisonis and non-poisonis snakes and there are a few wild pigs, so I keep an eye out for those things
Nice trails through Sand pine/rosemary scrub, oak scrub, dry flatwoods and Bay gall swamp. 4 - 5 miles of trail as well as fire breaks that can be walked. Lot of deep sand.
This is one of my favorite places to go walking. It is never very busy. There are two walking trails, one 3 miles the other 2 miles, which both meet up in the center of the park. The ground is sand, as Seabranch used to be submerged under the ocean. There are about four different ecosystems within the park, making it a unique experience as along your walk you will encounter very different types of landscape. Bring plenty of water, the sand pines dont provide much shade here. The small parking lot is right off of Dixie Highway and shares a driveway with the VFW. The trailhead area has a picnic tables under a covered pavilion, water fountains, a trail map, and a compost toilet (it is the cleanest outhouse Ive ever encountered). The paved Greenways trail also runs by the parking lot and through the park. Five stars because I always have a relaxing, enjoyable time at this lesser-known state park.
Had a good time...only thing was I got lost wish there were more signs for direction..but I found my way back safely...overall nice running, walking trail
Very little shade. Need water and sun protection.
This place is huge! Be careful and keep your gps handy. It is very bareboned but with plenty of trails. It has some very unique formations.
Tough walking in soft sand. Not much variety in vegetation. Wish there was a clean trail to the intercoastal
Interesting . Ill do it again.
I love this area. Take a hike, do some fishing, great for paddle boarding.
Nice for biking
Not very impressed with this preserve. Did some hiking but the scenery seldom changed. The initial main path was just a wide plowed area.
Very nice patch of wild coastal Florida. Great for a walk or bike ride.
Alligators in the water
Well marked trail with good facilities at the trailhead.
Beautiful area. Had a really lovely walk through it.
Every pour food and very expensive
Beautoful

Nice map and trail markers... not! Me and my group somehow got spit out on the outside perimeter.

Great place
Nice place
Biking is all concrete paths. The trails for biking are loose sand.
Nice trails to walk on.
Lovely trails great outdoors
Why do you allow people with dogs... they are NEVER on leashes and disturb the wildlife especially the turtles!
Sucked!
