Bald Mountain

What can I say, the view is great! It was a pain to get up here...avoid doodle town its boring...

The red dot trail that goes through Bald mountain is very rocky. So need to wear proper shoes. The red dot trail is pretty challenging and fun. Scenery is great in late October.

The hike on way up from the main Bear Mountain parking lot near the Inn was pretty fun, kind of lengthy and challenging. Rather than pulling into Bear Mountain lot and paying to park you can continue up 9W a little further and park on the side of the road near the trailhead which will cut off about 3/4 of a mile of an uninteresting walk though the open park and following a windy road to get to the trailhead. Any way you get there, the views from the top were among the best Ive seen of the Huson because you can see far north up the river. If you loop back down and around rather than retracing your steps, it is mostly a gravel / paved path so its less challenging. But its worth going that way because it leads through the remains of an old town that was settled in the 1800s called Doodletown and you can check out two old cemeteries as well.
