Nathan P Murphys is a Springfield treasure. Our band was lucky enough to play on their stage last night. What a great blues and all around music venue. Great feel to the bar.. Dr Bob and Wanda were great to work with and very appreciative and kind to us. We cant wait to return.

On behalf of Half Dtep Down: They treated us very well! We had a great time at their Halloween Party! Wanda worked non stop behind the bar. The place is a historic treasure and we hope to come back and play there in the near future.

Nathan P. Murphys seems like one of the few cool places to hang out in Springfield. Its a nice dark atmosphere that hosts metal bands but the only issue is their hours are inconsistent. Ive tried to stop by for a drink on many occasions but theyre always closed! Ive only been in there once to watch some Metal band and had a beer.

I want to address some of the negative reviews regarding Nathan P. Murphys. I am a local musician and Dr. Bob gave me an opportunity to play at the club. I got to know him and he has been a mentor to me in the live music business. Regarding....1. Wanda: Wanda is a warm, caring woman and she keeps Murphys going. She is more than capable of making a mixed drink. I have been behind the bar watching her operate. Over-charging and adding on drinks to your tab isnt something she does. If there is an issue about your bill, just approach her or Dr. Bob. Im sure they will take care of it to your satisfaction.2. Bands performing at Murphys: I play at Murphys often. I get a percentage of the door. Dr. Bob is always upfront with bands about payments. He guarantees you a stage to perform on. What you make depends on the crowd YOU the artist can bring in.3. Drug dealing at Murphys: I find this charge the most offensive. As Ive said, Dr. Bob has been a mentor to me. There are times I am personally with him for 12 hours straight, never leaving his side. I am often alone up in his apartment getting something and have never ran across ANYTHING illegal. I also come un-announced sometimes to the club and Dr. Bob doesnt know how long I will be there. What I am saying is that to infer that customers are filing in and out of Nathan P. Murphys buying Meth or any drugs is laughable and simply not true.To paint Nathan P. Murphys as a dark, dreary, drug den is a lie. There are some things that need to be corrected and I can assure you that they are being addressed. Take this review to heart. I am not an average customer who comes down for an hour and has a drink and then gets on a computer to write a review. I am at the club often and know Dr. Bob and Wanda personally. I invite you all to come down to the club and meet Dr. Bob. I promise you, you will be glad that you did. Thank you.

I guess I have to give this place one star....otherwise it would be zero. I have been to this place a few times, most of them 5+ years ago. I just recently went back last week with a friend and it was even worse than I remember! The older lady behind the bar is simply a drink-nazi. I took a drink out on the patio (I didnt want to be roofied, like most normal people, so I took it with me) and got the screaming of my life. Apparently there is a sign on the door (among about 50 thousand old/upcoming band flyers) that says No Drinks On Patio that I missed on accident. Why is this?? Natty Ps is too cheap to acquire a patio license. The same goes for the bathroom, so just expect to leave your drink out for anyone and everyone to do with as they please when you leave a table. They have literally 4 drink choices. The bartender does not want to make mixed drinks, not that I asked for any. You can pick between canned Pabst, Bud, Bud Light, and something else. I paid $2.50 for each 12oz Pabst, which is ridiculous considering Pabst is cheaper even in a place like Portland. The bands (boy I felt even worse for them) were playing with literally no microphone at all. The bass was so loud it over-powered the vocals completely and was never fixed. The microphone itself, was taped to a dolly between what looked like two drum sticks. Some of the singers actually smacked their faces with the contraption during the shows. (Sorry, but I did laugh)Last, but not least....the place smelled like cat piss. Good thing it is basically blackout dark in there, otherwise, I am sure I would have had a heart-attack. Never again will I be back.^^^Dude above me isnt bias at all and even he only managed to squeak out 3 stars for the business lol. People write bad reviews when something was that AWFUL. Duh. The place has been a known as lackluster around town for many years now.

Wow!!! I used to play this club back in 1989-1991ish. from reading these reviews, it sounds like nothing has changed!!!! Its amazing. Bob is a druggie, still screwing over bands, and charging too much for drinks. I cant believe it.

Ive played a few shows there and I really have a lot of problems with this place. Dr. bob was really nice once approached, but his wife Wanda looked and acted like a tweaker. She changed our payment deal as if she forgot wed ever worked it out and shook hands on it. She shortchanged us on drinks, overran our tab [she was too high to realize we were keeping track on paper], and got in to a big argument when I called her on it. She was extremely rude to my wife, and her bartender hobag was too busy talking on her cell phone or staring off in to space to serve us even when we were the only customers at the bar, and this was the first couple times we went there as customers. Bob was there most of the time with his nose in a drink acting like nothing was wrong. His testis must have shriveled in to peanuts from the cancer.Hopefully Bob will retire, Wanda will o.d. on meth, and some legitimate humans will take the place over. It has great potential, but not with a couple of retarded drug addict Missurah trashbags running it. And by the way, I even played for free during two benefits and still got treated like crap. That shows you what a pig this woman truly is. Even the bouncer apologized to me when I left, telling me that shes run off so many customers that they can hardly get a good crowd anymore.
