So, I have been attending ORWALL for the last six years as a teen. I still love it; the faculty if phenomenal; they truly treat you like family, they are always happy to see you, and the coaches are superb; I, as a teenager, save and work hard every year to attend and pay my way at ORWALL so not only is the environment for this place the best I have seen by far, youth such as myself can pay for it.
I am very disappointed with the changes in leadership that were made. I remember prior years when the coaches that volunteered were taken into consideration. Being a coach or manager is not easy and takes a lot of commitment. Numbers at Orwall will continue to drop if the (UMPIRES) that get paid at Orwall are not held to the same standard as volunteers. Board members should not be favored and should be treated equally as well.
Great place for kids to play ball. My kids grew up in Orwall.
What are you looking for in a baseball experience for your child? Are you willing to make an investment in the player so that their baseball experience is all it can be. Rec baseball is exactly that, recreational. Any league you play will have a broad range of players and managers. I was not a baseball guy as all my children have played longer than I. My experience in my first season was like those 1 star reviews. That season caused me to take action and get more involved. ORWALL is an incredible opportunity for those in its zone. There isnt another league with as many fields or players as ORWALL. When I tell other parents that in the prime age group of 9-13 ORWALL fields more than 40 teams in 4 divisions their jaw hits the floor. Meaning you will not have to play the same teams over and over again and still are able to have a season schedule that gives some family time. If you are entering rec ball for the first time and expect the Manager to be able to hone your ball players skill to advance to another level your target should be re sighted. Recreational baseball is a fun space where we can gather and watch our kids have fun. ORWALL is a large recreational league where I have found so many fond memories with my daughter, sons and the other families. I will always treasure the fun we had in our seasons in the league.Prescription for success:1-Practice every day with your son or daughter throwing hard and swinging hard.2-Accept that rec baseball is an error filled, passed ball, dropped strike 3 game with no predictability. Have a great attitude.3-Get Involved with the league.Recreation baseball leagues are built on volunteer participation and your memories of the league will be what you make of it. When its over you will feel the emptiness and love the time when they were young. My only regret is not starting when my boys were 5.FYI-- I was a transplant to The Woodlands in 2013 and participated in the league until 2016. Since then I have managed teams in West Raleigh Baseball Association, Bull City Little (Durham) League and ORWALL is a gem. Enjoy the game and keep striving to improve.
They just screwed over hundreds of families. We all paid for the 2020 spring season but because of covid19 the season never started. Nobody even played a game. But now they canceled the entire season and will not give anyone their money back. They are only giving people a 25% credit to next spring season. Complete BS.
Its changed to church project.. its awesome..God is good.
Nice clean park and good food
It was a wonderful place, I had a great time
It was okay but it was swarming with bees on the bleachers, in the trash, and at the concession stand too. Really was a big problem.
ORWALL Little League baseball is a wonderful experience for kids up to about 10 years old. Most kids with some drive to be competitive are driven out either by frustration or literally by the organizations management. The Woodlands area has a ton of talent, but its all in select baseball. Ages 11 & up, its truly recreation baseball at ORWALL.
ORWALL is a really good Little League. I have coached/managed for the past six seasons and the league really cares about the kids. My reasoning for four stars is due to the league having organizational and communication issues every season. This of course is a function of the size of the league. There are so many kids and teams that it is quite unwieldy and since everything from coaches up to the board president relies on volunteers, moderate chaos is to be expected. If you are willing to exercise patience and realize it is about the kids and not the grownups, ORWALL is a great place to play baseball without all the BS that goes with select ball.
Great place for playing baseball.Thank you to all coaches por the passion
Was a little leery about joining this little leauge last spring, but the coaches we had were great. You certainly reap what you sow when you get your kids involved in these activities. Overall no complaints about Orwall.
3 seasons in and my son loves it. Only complaint is daddy coaches only want to play their kids sometimes to the detriment of the team.
My son has been playing baseball here for 3 years and he loves it. Everyone at the park is so friendly, the coaches hes had are wonderful dedicated coaches. The volunteers are all nice. We love ORWALL!
The people here are very nice. However the score book hardly ever works and some of the bleachers have loose seating rows. With the amount of money this park brings in I would expect these things to be working and safe!
My son played 3 seasons here at ORWALL. Lots of good memory here. Nice facility and good place to play ball. Volunteer-based coaches, so you may get a variety of different coaches.
My son played and it was a great league.... Possibly the board could do some upgrades but I think they have been there a while...
Love having my boy play here!
Great ballpark. Good place to let your kids learn the game.
The fields are completely unkempt, if it rains, it takes the field a whole week to dry, the concessions are overpriced, and their choices are minimal. Many of the coaches here are daddy ball managers so if you want your kids to get playing time, get a coach who doesnt have a kid.
Very nice little ball field complex with a nice centrally located concession and bathrooms.
A lot of good baseball.
Very disappointed by this league. For an elite team we had poor coaching, and the league didnt adjust.
Great facility and organization
Epic
Nice fields
Good place to start and learn baseball
Good facilities.
Nice ball park and great hamburgers
Additional parking is available in the Sawdust Park & Ride lot on the north side of the complex.
Great field and great environment for all ages
Lots of walking but all in all liked coming here and look forward to coming back.
