Didnt expect to see the elaborate setups of all the tanks and the giant island thats also multiple tanks. That said, for all of the tanks available, the selection was good but could have been better as 33% of the tanks were bare or empty. Nonetheless I found the specific, hard to find fish I was looking for. This is the only reason I didnt give 5 stars. Staff seemed to be well educated.

Nice folks with a large variety of tropical and saltwater fish. Lots of plants, coral and other natural ornamentals. You can also get fresh or salt water for your aquarium in 5 gallon jugs.

This store has to be one of the few better stores or best in my opinion. The store was well kept and clean, with knowledgeable and friendly staff. This location is 42 mins from where I live and now the only location I need for all my saltwater tank. New addition from That Aquarium Place, thanks!

Great aquarium shop I have been to and purchased from. Zero issues with the fish I have bought and understand that getting the array of fish types in is challenging right now. But today what I didnt care for was seeing heavy algae growth on some sponge filters. Some sponge filters were coming off the intakes. Then there was the blue green algae bloom in the plant tank that looked to have been there for a while. Blue green algae was growing on several plants. Hopefully this is just a hiccup because its a great store. All store have issues arise the good ones should notice it and have it address quickly. I have no intentions to stop going and hope next time through every looks a good as it can be

This store has a wide variety of species and supplies, however I didn’t feel comfortable purchasing fish here because in every single tank the fish were pale and visibly stressed. The guppies in particular were covered in ich and had not been marked NFS to quarantine.

Came to visit That Aquarium Place for the third time today, and for the third time left pretty disappointed. I have heard almost nothing but great things about this place, but have yet to have a great experience here myself.Prices for freshwater community fishes and cichlids, especially African peacocks and discus, are great! And saltwater coral selection is good too, but where I find the most lacking is that often fish are not identified on tanks they are in, or a fish name may be written on a tank when in reality, that fish is no longer available. Several times, there were also tanks with species in them that are clearly not those listed to be in said tank. The TV monitors that list stock in each section were also not always up-to-date, so I might get my hopes up for a rare species to then find that it is unavailable.The tanks are quite small, which really limits the amount of any species that can be available.When asked if I needed help with anything, I politely said that I was just looking; however, when I did need help, I felt avoided. Customer service was also a bit lacking, in that one employee was unable to identify a species that I inquired about, and left to get help, although they quickly moved on to help others in the saltwater section and help never came.I hope that your experience is better than mine.

Good selection, very helpful and friendly staff. Only caveat is that after I pointed out a couple of tanks that had ich, they agreed, but didnt mark them as not for sale. Makes me leery of buying from other tanks. Diseases and infections happen, its part of it, but those fish should be marked NFS and be treated as to not sell them to a different unaware customer. I see this often in fish stores. Makes me wonder if its not a ploy for the customer to have to return and buy medicine from them.

What a great little fish store! The workers are cool and friendly and the owner is great. Nice place for to distract the kiddos. Saves some money if youre not ready to pay for the aquarium downtown and buy a fish for the little. They also have an albino arowana there. Really cool to look at!

Awesome place to get all your fish and aquarium related needs. They have anything you would want and if they dont, the owner will work with you to try to get you what you need. They built my current 120 gallon saltwater setup and I could not be happier with my tank. Jamal got me everything I needed at a lower cost than most other places. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place. Ive attached some pictures of my tank setup.

Beautiful new store! Great selection of salt and fresh fish. Corals seem very happy (opened up and vibrant). You have to wait your turn to speak with Jamal, but then you get his undivided attention.

Very helpful for beginners and work well with interested kids. Knowledgeable and friendly with a healthy selection of interesting fish.

Great fish store! Although it might be a bit rough around the edges, the service and variety is top notch. We were immediately greeted by the employees and got all our questions answered within minutes. If you are looking for fish that are too exotic for big chain, this place will have them. This is a very well recommended place.

TAP may just be the best aquarium store on the face of the planet. Okay, that may be an exaggeration, but it is the best in the Greater Houston Area. Jamal is highly knowledgeable and is always incredibly helpful. TAP has an incredible selection of fish, corals, live plants and any supplies you can think of for fresh and saltwater. This really is a 5 star establishment, dont listen to the lady that felt the need to bring race into her 1 star review.

This place does not look like anything you see in the pictures. It was quite depressing because all of the fish were dying and to add on top of that nobody knew anything. I asked one of the guys who worked there how long he had to train for this job and he said “not much!” Also, if you are looking for tanks or lighting this is not the place for you. They only have dying fish if you are interested.

Jamal has built a wonderful fish store with great selection and prices. We have three aquariums (planted, mixed reef, and african cichlid) and we always find what we need (okay usually its a want). Plus if you need some fish-keeping advice you have come to the right place.

Even though I live over an hour away from this fish store, it is #1 on my list. Theyre very helpful and it is very enjoyable to be in their store. They often stock very different and unique corals and high end fish. I would suggest this store to everyone I know in the hobby!

Loved the place even though my 2 hatchet fish died within a week also our cory died to. The owner and staff are great however, Im hesitant to buy again. I didnt know Corys need to be in pairs or more. A little upset because of the money lose. They told me the fish would be fine. I might return because there tanks and fish looked great. Maybe the fish were stressed due to the fact they were still moving them into the new location.

Jamal and the staff at TAP are top notch. From my initial purchase, standard maintenance, to off the wall questions and concerns they have always been there to help me out.

I really enjoy seeing their fish there and its really fun to look at.

Staff were helpful and friendly. Their marine tanks are well stocked and fish appeared healthy. They sell good brands of sand (Caribsea) and salt (Coral Reef Pro is my go-to). We were not buying coral frags this trip, but their stock was plentiful and looked like great specimens for a future trip.

Have been coming here for a little over a year, my friend recommended the store and usually we go at the same time. He prefers salt water and I prefer freshwater.No problem, Jamal has helped both of us find what we need every time.He helps with any problems our tanks are having, by giving advice on the issue, which is usually spot on advice at that. They have a wide selection of fish, FW or SW, and theyll usually special order something if you ask and its in season. Personally i LOVE ropefish and eels. The man has special ordered me countless of each. And im insanely grateful for it! Ive rarely seen a dead fish in a tank, but as soon as they notice it, its gone. They can answer pretty much any question i ever have, and coming from me thats a big deal. I ask about water condition requirements, temp, food, tank mates, nocturnal or not, possible size, will it uproot my plants, is it a showy fish or does it hide, hows it color turn out when it matures, do they do well in large schools or on their own, ANYTHING. He has even helped me design a new tank i bought from him in store, and helped me choose what rocks and corals would look nice for my tiny 10 G SW tank (Ok im mainly FW). All in all 5/5 stars, for being helpful, convenient, priced well, polite, respectable, friendly, honest, and knowledgeable.They have FW fish, SW fish, living rocks for SW, rocks for FW, decor such as spider wood (and many other kinds), plants, corals, tools, food, tanks, anything.The ONLY place I go for my fish, and i drive about 35 minutes there and back.

OK a little update with this store came in about 2 months ago made for some rock pay like $4 a pound now theyre telling me its $68 a pound for the same material now things changed its not flat rock you know I wish they were consistent with their pricing but it fluctuates just how they feel quality of corals I give him up C plus

Probably one of the best aquarium stores Ive been to in Houston. This was my brother and Is first time coming to their store, and the staff is one of the reasons that will keep us coming back.
