We enjoyed going here with our family. We also loved their gift shop. The only disappointment was that the pop art display was rather small and only part of the museum was open. The prehistoric part was closed.
The experience starts with the view from the parking lot. Entering the museum we were greeted by friendly and informative staff. They keep their exhibits selection fresh and relevant, loved seeing the Pop Art exhibit! The gift shop has really cool souvenirs by local artists.
Pop Art exhibit was awesome. The docent Barb was engaging. Very pleasant visit.
Spokanes regional museum with world class exhibits. The recent Pompeii exhibit and the previous Titanic exhibit are glimpses of the breadth and quality of museums in much larger cities. Support the MAC!
I loved the exhibits, however there was much less to explore than my last visit. Still a good time.
Great local gem. They had a nice variety in the few galleries. We went for the Chihully exhibit today. They also had some local Native textiles in one gallery. Another space had large landscapes from the arctic regions of Canada and Alaska. They even had a glass blowing exhibition out in front of the museum. Of course there is a nice little gift shop. They also have the historic Campbell house next door.
We love going to the MAC. Always something interesting. We usually see each show at least twice.
Great exhibition of the Pop Art movement arists of the 50s-60s.
They get really great exhibits and their current covid precautions are well done. Customer service is simply ok.
Fantastic display of Pompeii, totally amazing to understand the culture and life in the area devastated bu Vesuvius. Sad that all other Areas of the museum were closed.
Highly recommend going to The Campbell House right after. Great date location!
Went to the Pompeii exhibit. It was amazing. The staff there was great!
Went to see the Chihuly exhibit. Was a bit smaller than I was expecting but only because Ive been to the Seattle exhibit a d never to the Spokane museum. The price for entry was cheap IMO $10. There were also other exhibits there and some awesome paintings. The parking was minimal. Probably because it was the opening day for the exhibit.
For being a smaller museum, The MAC gets some really interesting and unique exhibits. Ive gone to a few different exhibits, the last being monsters from mythology, and Ive been blown away at the information and the displays. As you spiral down to the main exhibit you find several smaller exhibits that are just as unique as the main exhibit or some that are even more interesting. Plus when youre done you can take a tour of the Campbell House that is on the same campus. The photos are different textiles made in the Spokane area plus a life size sabertooth tiger that was made entirely of paper.
Amazing exhibit, tastefully done with thought given to reflect.
Really nice they have good rotating art exhibits. The place has really changed over the last 10 years. Always a good date spot as well.
Lovely experience and the blown glass exhibit was so pretty. Being from Seattle, to see even a mini Chihuly exhibit was a treat. Go and catch it, if you’re able.
I always enjoy coming here. Theyre always putting on something cool and interesting.
Amazing and interesting place.
The entry fee seems a little steep. The facility is modern, clean and well arranged. The Pompeii exhibit was very well done. It just seemed a bit abbreviated. The Mt Saint Helens display was a nice touch, especially for the locals! Really enjoyed the Campbell House and the ability to tour it on the same ticket certainly added value to the price of admission. I highly recommend a visit !
Beautiful facility with lots of promise. Attended for the Pompeii exhibit. For its size the exhibit was well done however understated given the scope of the topic matter. Evidently my expectations were higher than what they could provide. Admission price of $20 was excessive in my opinion.
Like this local museum. It is one block from my house so it makes it easy to see new attractions. It currently itls the mythical creatures exhibit.
I really enjoyed the new exhibition this fall.
Wonderful exhibits. Great staff.
Such a great museum in our area with world class exhibits. A must!
I visited during the Pompeii (lost city) exhibit. I was especially impressed by the quality to which the exhibit displayed information. While I was expecting a little more textual information, I imagine that comes from the fact that I am not exactly the target audience for much of the facility (kids ages 8-13). Regardless, the exhibits visual presentation, accompanied by artifact displays and audio descriptions, was very well done.
So wanted to see the pompei exhibit! Was heartbroken when covid shut the museum down, but the artifacts are still there for a short time longer!
This museum is a gem in Spokane. The building is beautiful, and they get interesting and timely exhibits. This visit, we enjoyed the exhibit on Mt St Helens. The staff is helpful and the location is convenient. They also host educational sessions on interesting topics. We will go back.
Great Little Museum.Friendly Staff!
I always love the MAC!!! Was great to be able to see such wonderful glass pieces!!
This museum is an amazing highlight of culture in Spokane and really has a lovely presentation of their exhibitions. The current exhibit Pompeii: The Immortal city has a dozen frescoes, pottery, glass, ironwork, jewelry, beautifully made mechanical devices and wooden machines, architectural models. Also without giving too much away has some immersive pieces as well. I have yet to see the exhibit of Reservation Landscapes next door but I became a member as a visitor to Spokane while debating on moving here and the museum was in the top ten reasons to be here.If you live in the area, a membership is extremely cost effective and highly recommended. I’ve paid more for a dinner or movie I’ve regretted than the cost of my membership which I have already gotten my money’s worth out of in the first 3 months. The gift shop I’d like to see more local artists and writers in, but for it’s size they have very few silly baubles and tack than much larger museums and better substance!Coming back soon!
Pretty decent local museum. Smaller exhibits showcased and the bulk of the pieces seem to be reproductions. Adult ticket at $19.50 is a bit much IMO.Still we enjoy it and will go again and again.
Ive been going there for years. I m one of those that loves museums. The Norman Rockwell ex was unbelievable. My favorite illustrator. They have new things going on all the time. I recommend it.
Best art museum in Spokane.A large permanent collection of native art.The F64 exhibition with Ansel Adams was beautifully curated, hung, and lit. A wonderful and informative visual journey through early art photography.
I could have saved my money and looked online as there was very few items that belonged in a museum. Lacking actual artefacts. The mystical creature exhibit was a joke. The Campbell house was closed, but was supposed to be included. I could have better spent my money elsewhere.
Love the modern art display.
We came for the Ice Age Titans exhibit. Terrific staff and the exhibit was nicely done. Set in a historical neighborhood, there ends up being quite a bit to see when wandering around. Too bad cafe was shut down because there was a large lag time between when the museum opened and the Campbell (historical) House opened. Nice, informative staff. There were pamphlets all over of the educational classes that the museum hosts. Very cool aspect.UPDATE 9.11.17. Visited for the Z Nation exhibit. It might be a niche exhibit, but for those not in the know, Z Nation is a zombie show airing on SYFY and filmed in the Spokane location. One of the galleries was turned into a sound studio which, according to staff, contains a barber shop, laboratory and morgue (I think the last one is correct) which the tv show is actually FILMED in the museum before a LIVE audience (well, if people happen to show up).The exhibit has tons of info about cast, crew (on the info, theres advice to young people on how to get into the field, which is VERY cool), the show, zombies in general. Its a quick tour but hey, how many tv shows get time in a museum. $10 for most people, not a bad deal. Got a few pics if you wanna see. :D(I admit, Ive only watched a couple episodes of the 1st season. Different premise than Walking Dead. The sound studio is not accessible since they are still using it. Its said that once filming is done, the public can tour it. Exhibit ends pretty soon...)
A super cute place. The current Pompeii exhibit is great for everyone, even children as theyve got a kids activity at the begining/exit from the exhibit. Price of admission was a bit more than I expected, but you pay for the quality of the exhibits and artifacts on display.
I went to see the Norman Rockwell exhibit and greatly enjoyed it! Beautiful music was played by a pianist while people looked at the paintings. Wonderful experience. The Campbell house was great as well!
Very nice museum and a highlight of our visit was extensive 1 hour guided tour of neighboring Campbell House! Our tour guide Devrick was -very- knowledgeable and gave us amazing info and insight into the family, servants and history of the house and Spokane during the early 1900s - he brought it all to life! Thank you Devrick! This was definitely worth the admission fee and more ( AAA and student discounts apply, so it came out to $8 pp). Staff was very helpful too when we missed the guided tour last week - they gave us a raincheck (use w/in 90 days). Check for hours - Campbell House guided tours are currently Tu-F, Sunday 12,1,2,3pm, and open house format on Saturdays. Get tickets early as it is first come first served!
An excellent museum! Worth going to see any interesting exhibits. Would recommend coming at a less popular time, as parking and entrance can be a little dicey at peak days.
The Mac is always great. Its great for locals and tourists alike. Always fascinating exhibits. Easy way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon.
This is our second time at the museum. The Pompeii exhibit was very interesting, and the one on Mt. St. Helens brought back a lot of memories. It was a little confusing about where to go and the interactive audio wasnt in order, but there were plenty of staff to direct us. They were very nice and helpful.
Mammoth exhibit was awesome. Cant wait for next one. MAC is a great asset to our community. Family membership price makes lots of sense. Two visits with family of four pays for itself and more.
I learned a lot from visiting this wonderful and peaceful place. Very welcoming staff, the exhibits are not too big and not too small. You could easily plan to visit and do the tour that they offer all together in about 2-4 hours tops.
Great the Spokane Area has a museum! I always look forward to the new presentations. Volcano experience, 360 movie, really neat feature!
Not really an art museum without art. 2 fresco paintings. Wish they would of told me that before I paid. Staff had no idea what was there . Waste of money and time for me and I could not for the life of me get them to understand I was looking for paintings. They went on and on and on about displays. Thats great but, I believe I asked a specific question.
Nice! I think they do stuff in there
We went to see the current Titanic exhibit from the Smithsonian. It was a great exhibit and very informative and the museum is wonderful. We didn’t experience everything they are currently showing and I look forward to going back to view some of the other exhibits.
Very pretty came with my grandpa and it was fun
Wendys show was fantastic
Informative events and creative displays! Always friendly docents. Love going.
I spent several enjoyable hours at at the museum today. As a visitor to Spokane I enjoyed the one hour included tour of the adjacent Campbell mansion that gave me some insights to the neighborhood we happened to be staying in. I also enjoyed the rug and quilt display and was particularly interested in the quilt that included tobacco company material swatches given in cigarette packs as collectibles for women. The current exhibit was one of dragons and other magical creatures, definitely targeting children with its hands on activities, but there was an interesting video of native american stories of Coyote, and a smattering of international dragon information for adults. The cafe is open until 2pm. It has a limited menu but I had a delicious grilled cheese sandwich and vegetable soup which gave me energy to finish the museum. The museum is in a beautiful new building, the exhibits were small but interesting, there were a lot of hands on activities for children.
A wonderful regional museum and cultural center. The current exhibit Pompeii is really quite fascinating and full of facts, figurines, interactive, and immersive exhibits. Theres isnt a while lot of parkingbut there is street parking.
I love the gazebo in the back
Good local flavor Pai the g display in the Annex lobby.
I visit here once or twice a year; great exhibits
You should go see Titanic before its gone may 20th. It was allot of fun. Take your reading glasses there is allot to read on the walls.
Went and saw the titanic exhibit! An amazing facility right here in Spokane!
I love that the Mac brings such incredible exhibits to Eastern Washington. Be sure to check out the Campbell house while there
The Norman rockwell exhibit was wonderful, showcasing his life and works. The museum itself has convenient parking nearby, plenty of interesting exhibits on roation and a friendly staff. A family friendly museum that will teach you something new every time you visit!
Exhibits are always fantastic! Glad we have a family membership and can visit often. Campbell House is a wonderful experience.
Great permanent and visiting exhibits. Nice facility. Appropriate for all ages.
Beautiful art, very calm atmosphere.
Great Pop Art exhibit
A regional source for the Arts and Culture. Exhibits run gamut from living, modern, to native (Columbia Basin) artists and artisans. Check out whats showing--and you still may be surprised!
The museum is nice but much smaller than I expected. We went to see the mythical creatures exhibit and I expected to see more art work that featured mythical creatures. Instead it was a nice history of the myths.
A medium sized museum where you can spend 1-2 hours. The exhibit we saw, Giants Dragons and Unicorns was incredibly well done. Lots of cryptozoology info about mythical creatures, but also a decent amount of actual historical data about how cultures saw these mythical creatures. I laughed hard at the fairy/troll section - its incredibly well done.Absolutely fantastic museum.
Great place to enjoy something new! They regularly have new and interesting exhibits there, and a very helpful staff.
Just saw the Norman Rockwell exhibit. It was wonderful. Easy to do with the whole family.
The Chiluly exhibit is wonderful!! Go see it!
Cool Pompeii exhibit, ill be back
This is a gem of Spokane, the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, the collection is spectacular, the Campbell house is spectacular and everything about this place is special, please visit the museum, its fantastic!!
I had seen the billboard for this museum as I was travelling into town. Thrilled I was to go and see the glass show. What an opportunity to see such astonishing examples of international glass works. The rest of the museum was of great interest as there was a fascinating array of local knowledge nicely presented. Access was great as someone with a bad knee I appreciated the elevator. Stirling clean bathrooms a total plus.
The collection is decent, but needs to be expanded further.
Very nice museum and a highlight of our visit was extensive 1 hour guided tour of neighboring Campbell House!
A little expensive. Great experence.
The museum usually has multiple exhibits going on. i went t see a Dale Chuilly exhibit and also saw an exhibit of native dress and lifestyle. There was another room with photos, paintings and artifacts from the far north. There is a restaurant and a gift shop on site, and ramps to walk to the exhibits so stairs and the elevator can be avoided. This is a small but interesting museum and my ticket included entrance to the Campbell House. I loved the collection of glass sculptures.
Great Norman Rockwell exhibit! Great quilting exhibit! Really worth the $10 admission.
They cycle through some good exhibits...some better than others but always an interesting/educational time.
Such a fun and interesting place! I went for the Chihuly exhibit, which was small but still very impressive. I remembered the tour of the Campbell House from grade school and it was neat to get to go through again now as an adult. The cost for admission is very reasonable as well.
The MAC is always a great experience, and utilizes education in many of its exhibits. Recently the glass art movement was here (a beautiful experience) alongside an incredible viewing of the basket and beading artwork of local tribes. Exceptional. Artwork on the grounds (find the critters breaking out through the bars), the Campbell House, and amphitheater. You can join the MAC for $35 bucks, and THAT is an entertainment and educational steal. Just do it!
We had a wonderful morning in family at the MAC. The kids enjoyed the exhibitions and activity room, giving the adults plenty of time to appreciate the art and information provided in the displays. We had a quick bite at the café and enjoyed the beautiful view. We will return regularly. The household annual membership is a great option to hang out on rainy and cold days all year. Hopefully, the museum will continue to develop its offerings and become a real asset to this community!
Nice local museum that hosts wonderful art tours like the Norman Rockwell exhibit + more.
The MAC hosted a Norman Rockwell exhibit. It featured my Father, his connection to Mr. Rockwell and to his contribution to Spokane. Bravo! So proud!!!
Norman Rockwell exhibit is even better than I expected. Great place.
I absolutely love this place and recently its been super clean and smells awesome!
Will probably never visit pompeii in person but have always been interested in its story. An added bonus was the mount st. helens exhibit.
Facilities are fantastic, but sometimes feel underutilized. Occasionally there are fantastic exhibits, but rarely are there more than two compelling exhibits per year. The local exhibits are generally surprisingly excellent. I wish there were more interactive exhibits. The museum is an awesome and essential local organization that preserves regional history. The adjacent Campbell House is a must-see and often exhibits in the MAC have ties to the Campbell House.
Friendly and helpful staff, good variety of exhibits, and they always do a good job of putting everything together nicely. One of my familys favorite places!
A great local museum that brings in fantastic national and international exhibits, gives you a chance to walk through one of the historic houses of early Spokane and has some local exhibits that showcase the early and Native American history of the area.
The current exhibit of Dragons, Giants, and Unicorns was delightful and educational. I was amazed at discovering that mammoth bones, particularly leg, pelvis, and rib cage, were strikingly similar to human bones. No wonder that earlier civilizations thought there were giants. There were giants, just not the bipedal type.
Pompeii exhibit was great, so were all the others weve gone to.
I very much enjoy this place! Their tour of the Campbell house next to the museum was particularly enjoyable. Our tour guide (whose name I wasnt able to catch) had lots of historical insights regarding the lifestyle of the people back in the early times of the Spokane city! He also mentioned a Christmas-themed event where actorsbare placed at different spots of the Campbell house, reenacting a typical Christmas season back in their days-- I look forward to seeing that!
Always a lot of fun, the exhibit space is rather small, but contains a lot of fascinating items. The glass exhibit was quite impressive, as was Titanic, they change exhibits every 3-5 months so there is frequently something new. The Campbell house is quite fascinating as well, it is a permanent feature.
