My daughter is in her sophomore year and again she is ill already from another mold infested building. We’re talking black mold, very dangerous to your health even if you’re not allergic to it. She lived in Pell last year and was told to go to Lowe’s and buy some cleaner and clean the room herself!! Until mom found out about it. She was very ill the entire fall semester. Now she is in Belk and she has been there two weeks and she is sick again. This is the closest school that has her major and she feels like she is getting a good education but this is ridiculous!! Campus is beautiful but the kids are living in deplorable housing. Go else where!!!!
Just visited for a camp for my son. It was a great experience and verynnice campus.
I transferred from a two year community college to Converse College to complete my degree. Converse College was a perfect fit for me. I lived off campus and still felt like I was part of the family. I loved my classes and teachers. everyone was helpful and encouraged me to become the best possible student and eventual professional. Thank you Converse for everything. I loved every moment I was lucky enough to be a student at this outstanding school.
Been here, pretty good 5/7
I am a current student at Converse. I was originally tentative about going to an all womens college, but it was the best choice I have ever made. The students, faculty, and staff are the friendliest group of people and they will do anything to help you out and help you succeed. It truly is a sisterhood here.
I love Converse College. They are an inclusive college and is broadly Christian. The academics are fantastic and really helped form me into a better student and a better critical thinker. The faculty and staff are awesome and friendly, and overall the campus runs really well.
I treasured my four years at Converse College! The friends I made there will last a lifetime. The campus is lovely. And the staff truly invest in their students. Wish I could do it all again!
Loved visiting Converse! I was welcomed and it has a great vibe to it. Converse is one of the few colleges that I looked at that has Art Therapy as a major. Converse most likely be a school I apply to this coming fall!!
Love this college. Daughter attends there and this is a wonderful place for any young lady to grow.
Great place for my daughter.
Beware potential students! Converse loves to make up false charges for things that didnt happen after youve left. They also like to take your money for parking fees and not actually remove them from your account, Id say that makes them thieves. I went here in 2009 and its now 2016 and a collections agency is just now showing up on my credit report saying that I owe them $700. ITS BEEN 7 YEARS AND IVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS. After I called and spoke to someone, they refuse to give me any documentation of the fact that I owe money. They never notified me that I had a balance on my account and so they just sent it off to collections. Converse loves to nickel and dime their students. Im in the process of getting an attorney because after 7 years of not hearing about any of this, it seems pretty fishy to me.
My experience with Converse College was one I will never forget. The idea of going to a womens college made me feel comfortable and empowered. I left feeling violated and hurt. Today I am almost six months seizure free and am recovering very well from C-PTSD thanks to wonderful professionals and my Service Animal (dog) Meadow. I went through disability services (which is just one woman by the way) to talk about living off campus or potentially having my service dog present with me on campus. I didnt receive replies from disability for weeks. I had to ask my admissions counselor for any paperwork regarding disability services, because I was being ignored. Fast forward to finally being contacted. Im excited, getting paperwork together, and asking questions about further paperwork needed to help aid the process along. Disability lady wont give me clear answers to genuine questions and hits me with I need you to fulfill the guidelines multiple times as I basically beg her for help. Im a first generation college student. My mom cant even help me fill out paperwork because its new and something weve not experienced. General rudeness continues and I talk to a surpervisor about maybe talking to someone else; chalking it up to differences, and being polite about this lady being a jerk. Nope, cant talk to anyone else. Okay, fine. I suck it up. Orientation/sleep over thing comes up for the freshmen and I get hit in the first few hours with Hey youre needed in this office to discuss transferring college credits you did in high school. That was a lie. Alone, out of state, and without a parent present Im in a room with three strangers grilling me about a status I made about being disgusted about how this lady treated me. She asked my therapist if I really needed a service animal, and if I had tried alternative treatment. I didnt name the lady, didnt name the school, and stated that I was exhausted from going around town with this lady, but I guess I had to do it again. Apparently around town sounded threatening. Im in the office with the HR lady, disability ladies surpervisor, and an older black woman whom I forget. I was belittled, told I was threatening, and told my disabilities werent relavent. The older black woman actually laughed at me when I suggested that I was treated unkindly because my disabilities arent visible off the bat. Since when is a seizure disorder and C-PTSD not good enough to ask for one accommodation? I called my mother hysteric off campus and left. No refund of my 300 dollars. No apologies. And a year later my yelp review is reported and taken down. However, through speaking out about the college I have met about 20 beautiful young, disabled women who the college made feel less than. I have made lasting friendships in a community that wouldve never come together without this hardship. Converse college doesnt care about your daughters. They especially dont care about your disabled daughters. And youll never get that $300 back. Please take my warning and dont look at them. Im at a point in my life where I am finally getting better, getting my license because the seizures have stopped, and retiring my service dog to a life of treats and dog park adventures. But I will never forget how broken my heart felt, how scared I was as I was just beginning to be a woman, and how I felt like I didnt matter or wasnt disabled enough.
