A museum in the making. Fascinating museum of the start of the optics in America by AO all the way through 2 world war efforts, trips to the moon, development of transition lenses and fiber optics which led to cell phones. See how one mans idea that out of jewelry training, he thought he could do it better, an entire industry was developed.

I had a great time at this museum. Mr Dick Whitney was very accommodating and willing to answer any and all questions. After an overview of the museum, I was allowed to look through at my leisure. A lot to see and was very informative.

This was a really cool, unexpected experience. It is a world-class exhibit, but its not well known, and consequently not a lot of traffic. The museum was closed when we visited, but Mr. Whitney was in his office across the hall, and proceeded to open it up and give us a guided tour for the better part on a hour. I would have gladly spent another two hours going over the exhibits (but my kids patience was tested after the first hour). During your visit, you will get a sense of what it was like to be a pioneering firm here in the new world during a very exciting time of research and development. Would have loved to see the factory in its heyday.
