So many people have given this place high reviews and I cant for the life of me figure out why! The set up was something that you could build in your back yard with lumber you had just lying around. It says online that you are booking for an hour however after less than a half hour we were told to begin our last few throws. I double and triple checked to make sure I hadnt mistaken the time length and that it was only a half hour and Im still pretty sure it was supposed to be an hour of throwing. The boards that you throw at hadnt been replaced in at least a week. Even if the place was packed and had constant action the boards wouldnt have been torn up as much as they were. This meant that most axes wouldnt stick and large pieces of wood were coming off with every throw. The axes themselves although cool to have a variety were not well maintained. Some were broken, others just very dull. After the group next to us left we switched out our axes to see if maybe it was just bad throwing...nope it was the axes. The guy working even made a statement after I swapped a few out to say, you know those are the same axes right. I replied that I did and sure enough the other axes stuck time after time. The 3 guys working spent most of their time on their phones and not paying attention to anything going on. You can also upgrade to the silver box of weapons for another $20 which included several throwing items such as knives and shuriken. So $20 per person to throw, another $20 for the extra throwing items, and then an overpriced beer at $8 and for 2 people youve spent $78 for a half hour of throwing. Clearly this is not a good deal and a very expensive date! If they offered a specific throwing item for and extra $5 I could understand that, but the extra $20...no thanks. In terms of Covid precautions since that seems to be a hot topic for most theyve done well I guess, but beware if youre not into the extreme Covid measures as it could ruin your experience. You will only get one target to throw at so even if theres a group of 6 people and it isnt busy you will only have 1 target to throw at as somehow that spaces you from the people next to you even though you go right back to a table that is 2ft from the next one. You also must wear your mask the entire time while in the facility including while youre throwing. I went to a bowling alley the other day and didnt have to wear my mask while bowling so Im not exactly sure why this was different. Lastly and this is just a small personal thing is that it was my birthday and at the very least a happy birthday would have been nice. You got my birth date when I signed the waiver, and again when I bought my beer so there were opportunities. So if youre looking for a place that is poorly built with broken/worn out weapons and boards, and inattentive staff who only seems to be concerned with rushing you out the door then by all means waste your money here. However, I recommend you make the drive to Boston where you can find what an axe throwing experience is supposed to be.

Such a fun experience! Safety is their number one priority, which is appreciated. You have a “helper” the whole time. They give you an overview, provide assistance if wanted/needed, and just hangout. We really had so much fun and will definitely go back!! The location is also very convenient.

Great place if you’ve never been. The two guys that were there gave easy to understand precise instructions. The actual activity is extremely entertaining. They go through pretty extreme lengths to keep you safe (including from COVID).Pro:Easy to understand instructionsExtremely simple but effective safety measuresFriendly staffMultiple axe choices as well as an upgrade bundle if you want to play ninja (it includes different kinds of shuriken)The area is extremely clean and well maintainedCon:The entrance is a little confusing due to it being the same door as a gymInstructor should watch you throw a few axes and give pointers on how to improve performanceAll in all I would highly recommend this activity and this is definitely a place I would go again.

After a quick instruction set and safety rules with the friendly and amazing staff, we were off and throwing. An array of throwing options made it so much fun. Highly recommend.

Went today for a birthday party of 9 people. We had two boards to hurl axes at for an hour. After our brief safety and technique meeting we were chucking away. Everyone young and old stuck many throws. No need to fear it’s a safe environment for a good time. They even have some great beers available...and white claws (limit of 3 pp). They have a league night for a reasonable weekly fee and memberships available for those looking to frequent. You can buy your own ninja stars and/or axe or use the various types they offer.10/10 recommend.

Fun group activity. Took the bf there for his bday and we had a blast. Staff is super friendly and will teach you how to safely throw sharp hunks of metal at a wooden bullseye! The lanes are aligned similar to what youd see in a bowling alley, but everyone is standing to facilitate moving if an axe is being swung nearby!

So we had the date booked at the Pit for the Jan 16th (evening) (arranged by our fellow Mainers) and the place was closed - which we learnt at the spot :(. Very disappointed as this was supposed to be the main activity of that night during our week stay in Maine...and we came from Warsaw, Poland to check it out... happily Maine is full of alternative entertainment spots - our beloved craft breweries :) - so the night was saved!

A fun experience, but probably better for just a couple people at a time. Theres only one throwing lane, and the training and safety stuff takes about a third of your hour time. With 5 or 6 people in a group youre looking at about 10-15 throws for each person. Frankly for the price that a group of that size pays for an hour you can buy a 60 dollar hatchet and build a scrap wood board to throw them at for the same price and do it for any length of time you want. Theres not really any other option in Maine so if you want to do it, this is really the only option
