Ive been with this theatre company for years now, and the owners are like my family. my time spent here has been the best of my life and i keep coming back because of that. the family and friends i have made there are irreplaceable and everyone there makes me so happy. the people there work extremely hard to make these kids actually good and i can see them grow throughout each show, myself included. the notes they give i can apply to almost every show i do. they have really made me strong as an actor and i really feel like myself when im there. its been the best 8 years so far, many more to come.
A great little community theater that puts one some interesting shows. Seats about 50.
Sweeny Todd show was fantastic!!! A must see!!! The cast, lights and music was amazing!!!
The venue was very unique and we enjoyed the grounds. We went to see Kidd Kelly and Jake Kelly and the Pasadena Playboys. They were awesome! Highly recommend seeing them the next time they are there. I know I will.
This is such a wonderful, and amazing space. The atmosphere that the two directors have created in this theater for their organization is unbelievably heartwarming. I have been working with this non-profit for more than a couple years now, and my own growth (both professionally, and in my personal life) has been astonishing. The directors are so professional, and touched with the most enchanting sense of humor. Jack & Gloria make for admirable directors, and even more admirable people. Certainly an organization I plan to work with for many more years to come.
The Fremont Center theater, and specifically the Young Stars Theatre membership company has been an incredibly positive experience for my two young children. They have been given the opportunity to grow, express their creativity, and learn skills that will benefit them far into the future.I applaud Gloria and Jack Bennet for the performances they are able to coax out of these children. It is such a gift to be able to work with kids in a professional manner and they are amazing. They are also so generous as to welcome children of varying economic means. No one is excluded. This is unique and wonderful. If you have the opportunity to see a show or participate, dont miss it.
Young Stars Theatre has been, and continues to be, an amazing and inspiring place for my son. It is a non-profit childrens company, and charges NOTHING for actors to participate (yes, you read that right). Kids are really taught the ropes, in a nurturing, safe, and accepting environment. Jack and Gloria (the founders and directors) run a tight (and loving) ship - and I have never seen my kid learn so much, work so hard, and ALWAYS look forward to rehearsals. They are housed in the beautiful Fremont Centre Theatre, and every production is like watching a professional troupe. Words cannot express what a wonderful and unique company YST is.
The acting, directing and production quality of every play they do is impressive! The shows are all top notch and it is a much better experience than waiting in a long line to see a typical movie on a Saturday night. Our daughter was invited to be a member of this theatre company and it has been the best experience ever! Shes been part of other theatres and this is by far the best. Jack and Gloria are very experienced professionals and they make the rules perfectly clear to all the parents and actors. The thing I like is they dont play favorites. Even actors who have been in multiple shows have to follow all the same rules as everyone else.
My daughter started performing with Young Stars Theatre when she was just 5 years old. She has just finished her 6th show after 4 years. Jack and Gloria Bennett are awesome people. They always have something nice tosay and are always positive. They are wonderful teachers and coaches. The great thing is there is no charge for kids to be in the productions. We are excited that they have found a new home at Fremont Theatre. A lot of child actors that have worked with Jack and Gloria have become very successful. One was even nominated for an Academy Award.
Being a member of this theatre company has given me a great deal of tools, improving my acting abilities- definitely, but most important to me, Jack and Gloria have taught me crucial life lessons and characteristics that have advanced me in the real world. Participating with YST for almost a decade now, has given me many opportunities: expressing myself on stage, off stage, acquiring new roles and positions such as stage manager, conductor of lights and sound, and music director. Jack and Gloria are devoted to this theatre and every single person that walk through their doors. Theyve heavily impacted my life and the lives of MANY others in the most positive way. I admire everything they do for the community and those involved.
What a find! This is what kids community theatre should be. Unlike pretty much every other kids theatre company out there, Young Stars Theatre (housed at Fremont Centre Theatre) does NOT charge kids to perform. They cast based on merit. Founders/directors/producers Gloria and Jack run a professional-level company, and the kids more than rise to the occasion. The sense of community my daughter found here is unparalleled. To sum up: great kids, great owners, great productions. If I could give it more than five stars, I would!
My daughter has been involved with young stars theatre for the past 2 years and it has been nothing but an amazing experience for her! All of the kids are great and so supportive of each other and Jack and Gloria really know how to put on a good show! I appreciate their honesty and punctuality and I feel confident that my daughter is in a safe environment. I love the friendships that my daughter has made there and all that she has learned. We love it so much that we actually commute from out of the area because we have not found anything else like the young stars theater in our area, let alone one that is a no pay to play youth theater program!
The Fremont Centre Theatre is a wonderful community theatre. It is an amazing place and we love every show performed there. My daughter is a member of the Young Stars Theatre group that performs here and the experience is beyond wonderful for her and everyone involved.
Our daughter is in her second show with Young Stars Theater and she loves being part of each production. She has learned a lot about theater and looks forward to her next performance! Thanks Gloria and Jack for all the hard work you put into producing a fun theater experience for kids.
A small but fantastic community theatre. People do arrive early so make sure you do too if you want a choice of seats.
My daughter loved her many shows with YST at Fremont Centre Theatre! Jack and Gloria provide an authentic theater experience for the children, in that they learn how to act, sing, dance, perform, enter on cue, improvise, have backstage etiquette, etc. They learn what it means to dedicate themselves to a project and see it to fruition. My daughter, a shy girl, gained confidence and experiences that will benefit her for her entire lifetime. THANK YOU JACK AND GLORIA!
This is one of the best youth theater programs in Los Angeles. Jack and Gloria are wonderful and offer a unique experience to everyone involved in their shows. They expect a lot from the kids, and they get it back twofold! You can see the hard work that goes into each show. The kids are always incredible and charming, and the shows are something they can always be proud of. My daughters have been part of this program for two years and they have learned so much from Gloria and Jack. They absolutely love being part of the YST program.
I attended this fine theatre this evening for the first time, Im so thankful to the WISPPA ladies, especially Betty Emirhanian. The American Homeby Stephanie Alison WalkerIt is a play of a lifetime, about the 2008 housing crisis. I survived this bubble, it hit me deeply, personally and professionally. I had a good, good cry. This is my war story. The actors were first class.Lissa Reynolds, is truly a very interesting and professional woman with a good heart.I look forward to many more plays together.
Ive been performing in shows with YST for more than half my life, and they are truly some of the most hard working people I know. They put countless hours into all of their productions and not only look after all the kids but allow them opportunities to learn new skills and develop the talents they have. YST is where I got my start in acting, and I am forever grateful to them for their encouragement and for all the things theyve taught me.
Special in a small cozy way.
The company in charge of the Fremont Centre Theatre right now is the most loving theatre company I have EVER been a part of. The second you become part of a production theyre doing, you are welcomed with open arms to this family of thespians who all have the same goal; to find a place that is reasonable and affordable to pursue your dreams as a stage actor/actress. Young Stars Theatre is a company I have been a part of since I was 5-6 years old. Jack and Gloria Bennett are practically my second parents. I dont know about you, but I dont know ANYONE who would stay with a theatre company for a decade if they didnt like the program. The company is a 501-c(3) non-profit, meaning they only receive money from ticket sales, donations and concessions; NO ACTOR FEES! They even include all ages starting from young kids about 4-6 all the way to people even in their 60s! They are very professional and tell you everything in their handbook which explicitly explains everything you need to and should a problem occur, they will respond to your email as soon as they can with their packed lives. They are the most appreciative directors you will ever meet.
YST and Fremont Centre Theatre are not only a place where I feel happy, but a place where I feel safe to be myself. This is my happy place. Here, my love for the theatre grows and thrives and theres no place better!!! Jack and Gloria are honestly the best around. LIVE LOVE YST!!!!
We have really enjoyed being a part of the Young Stars Theatre-produced shows at the Fremont Centre Theatre. We get a chance to sing, act, and dance all for free! We highly recommend any kids out there to audition for the next show. The improv class at the theatre is also great- we have learned so much and have made so many friends.
Tiny theater with lots of character. I often attend a storytelling show there
A theater factory that cranks out an endless supply of substandard youth cast shows. Parents treated horribly. I paid $30 for my gala ticket, given a program of ads with no mention of my kids name at all, then, despite there NOT being assigned seating, kicked out of my chair because they were being saved (Although there was nothing like a reserved sign on them). Oh, and actors are NOT paid, because its a 99 seat theater, even though a law was passed over a year ago making it mandatory to pay actors in 99 seat theaters minimum wage.
A gem of a theatre in lovely South Pasadena. So blessed to be able to produce theatre here.
The Fremont Center Theatre, a small, beautiful theatre in south Pasadena, houses the YST membership company. My daughter has been with this group for 3 years. She had zero experience when she started and now has developed her singing and acting talents to the point where she has been accepted to a performing arts school and is getting lead roles in her theater and school plays. There are actors of all levels at this theater. Some kids are simply there for recreation and others are training for professional careers. There is never a charge for participating in the shows. Most youth theater programs in LA cost hundreds of dollars per show. Not here. Acceptance is based on merit and all actors must audition for each show. There is nothing like YST in LA. In addition to developing performance skills, YST actors are taught professionalism, responsibility, and camaraderie. They can walk into any audition with confidence. This program is funded solely by ticket/concession sales and the generosity of our theatre patrons and community. Come see one of the shows. You may be surprised by the talent you see on stage!
Best children theatre ! Great positive environment for the kids. My daughter loves spending her time there and I am always impressed by the quality of the show. Keeps getting better and better ! She has been with YST for 4 years, and I see her staying and growing with YST. It is such an important part of her life now. Thank you gloria and jack you are wonderful !
From the age of about 14, Young Stars Theatre has been my family. I have done countless shows with them and had so many opportunities to grow both onstage and offstage because of the wonderful owners Jack and Gloria Bennett. I am 22 years old now, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts from AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts which would probably not have happened without them. YST is a huge reason for my love of Theatre and the Arts. Becoming the resident theatre company of Fremont Centre Theatre has been a godsend. Nearly a decade of my young life has been made better by these people and this group and Im still doing shows with them to this day. Love YST and FCT!
My daughters have been with Young Stars Theatre (YST) for the past 8 years and have followed them from North Hollywood to South Pasadena, at the Fremont Centre Theatre (FCT), where YST has called home since January and for the foreseeable future. The directors of YST have taught my kids, and several others, MANY valuable lessons in the theatre industry, everywhere from auditioning to stage managing to performing. ALL for FREE! You will NOT find another theatre company, for adults OR children, that will teach as much information, even if you had to pay for it. If youre looking for a theatre to involve your kids, youve come to the right place. Check the website for upcoming auditions and give it a shot. You WONT regret it!
I have never been more happy to do shows here. I am doing my second show at this theatre and just auditioned for my 5th show with this theatre group (YST). However, I have done more with this theatre group at another theater before they moved to this theater. The directors are amazing, are very nice and are fun to be around. The other kids in the shows that I do are all amazing, support each other, and are fun to be with. I have never done shows with a better theatre group than YST. I hope to do shows with YST for a long time to come.
A lovely, well organized small theatre.
Best theatre in South Pasadena!
Absolutely beautiful theater!
