I golfed 18 here yesterday, and it was great. Beautifully landscaped, well maintained and a great pace. They actually had their tee times scheduled appropriately so you werent rushed or waiting. The clubhouse is very nice as well and the price is really fair! Had a great time, thank you!

This course is in Fantastic shape! Plush and green. Some areas have weeds and crabgrass, but show me a yard thats perfect... thought so. The fairways are cut so tight the weeds dont affect your shot. Greens are the quickest weve seen this year. Carts are a bit worn out and rattle but work. It would be nice to see new ones next season. Well worth the drive from Toledo to play. Cya again.

Green undulations can punish good approaches. We played in the fall and 3 greens were completely covered by leaves. Ranger should have a blower and periodically tend to those greens.

Should have better yardage markers. Like on tee box...how far to reach water or corner, etc. Maybe also a couple spots could use an arrow spray painted on ground pointing to the next hole. So easy to fix those issues not sure why they dont. Otherwise very nice course and staff.

Plan on doubling your usual time. Had a few hours so I decided to try and get a quick solo round in, or at least most of one. I got through 8 holes due to the “foursomes” in front of me breaking up into singles and doubles. 20 minute wait at every tee box and 5 minutes to get on the green. This was twilight, not peak hours. Ranger didn’t seem concerned about it. Course looked nice but it’s hard to enjoy it while waiting in lines. If they manage the groups it would probably be a fun course.

My review is in reference to the price gouging that occurred on 3/8/2020. This was the first decent weather in Michigan to be able to golf and several courses opened (57°). To my disbelief, the attendant indicated the price was $40 to play. I dont pay $40 to play this course during peak season. The golf carts need to be replaced with trim pieces detaching and seats duct-taped. There was still snow in some of the bunkers and fairways. One hole had a pile of snow on the green and the pin placement was right next to it. The pace of play was decent on the front, but when we drove to the 10th hole there were two groups on the tee box. The twosome indicated the front desk told them to start on the back even though the course was busy. My expectations for course conditions was not high since it was the first day of the season, but I was very disappointed in the price that was charged. I usually play this course several times during the season, but will not go back.

Very disappointed with my experience at Cattails. We were told that they were “spacing” out tee times due to Covid-19. They were booking them every 10 minutes. The pace was beyond slow, consistently waiting 5-10 minutes per shot and even longer on each tee box. Other golfers were hitting extra shots as opposed to using the drop zones, which slowed the pace even more. We consistently had 2-3 groups waiting to tee off especially on the back 9 and there was not a ranger out to keep the pace moving. Other courses we have played this year have been spacing out tee times by 20 minutes to adhere to social distancing and to prevent backup and slow play. We almost quit after 9 due to the slow play. Can’t imagine the pace of play when they’re not “spacing out” the tee times. The course was not in good shape, the rough literally looked like unkept grass from someone’s backyard. The fairways and greens were fine. The courses holes tend to be on top of one another and players seem to consistently be driving carts into the path of players teeing off on other holes. There are even cart paths that run right in front of tee boxes of other holes. The worst part about the experience was the price. $47 for 18 and cart at this course is beyond ridiculous. If it was peak season, at a peak time, and the course was maintained I could understand the pricing. Courses that are better maintained even at this point in the season have been charging less. This was our first and last time playing this course. You couldn’t pay me to play another round here.Warning to all…..this course is beyond overpriced. Unless you like waiting around and being backed up 2-3 groups spend your money and more importantly your time elsewhere.I have also heard the same Ownership purchased Hilltop golf course in Plymouth, which had a terrible reputation before. Can’t imagine any improvements will be made to that course either.

Decent course but a bit overpriced for what you get. If Im paying that much for weekend golf, I expect the rangers to be moving play along. First 9 took just over 3 hours and hadnt seen a ranger since hole 2. Multiple groups of 5 and 6 out slowing play and no one doing anything about it. Part of our group had to leave early because slow play was going to make them miss an event they had planned. Difficult to enjoy the course when you are sitting there watching a group of 5 goof around on the fairway and green in front of you

TERRIBLE lack of initial customer service - course had a 180+ golfer outing the morning of our tee-time that we booked days prior to. Upon arrival, there was no disclosure or communication of the outing and we were sent to the 1st tee to start our round. After spending over $71.00 for 2 golfers, we expected to ready golf and stay on pace. We kept getting backed up at every hole for over 10-minutes due to a 4-some in front of us who were playing around and a 4-some in front of them with 2 new golfers who were taking 5+ swings each hit. There were no Rangers on site or around. At hole 9, a 2-some skips the hole and jumps ahead to hole 10. After taking 3-hours to play the front 9, we went to hole 10 and saw 4-5 golf carts with 2- golfers in each. We overheard them talking about how they are a part of an outing and that a 2-some jumped in front of them. This caused a 6 cart back-up at hole 10 and we sat for over 30-minutes to tee off. Another 2-some and us both called the Clubhouse for a Ranger to come out and help facilitate and even asked the Beverage Cart driver to get the Ranger. No Ranger ever came to address us at the tee box and I finally got a Manager out to the hole. We explained the entire situation and he said someone should have disclosed the outing when calling to book our tee times and upon checking in (which was never done for anyone who was stuck waiting on hole 10 with us). I demanded a full refund for the round and said our golfing day was over since we were so irritated and too frustrated to play. We have played at many local courses and just spent a week at Crystal Mountain, including a busy weekend, and we did not ever experience this kind of wait time and hole-jumping or lack of Rangers out on the course to assist. The course should have been closed to tee times until the afternoon when the outing was done or near done, but they were still booking tee times during the time the outing was playing. The Food/Beverage Manager called GolfNow for us and helped get our full refund processed, so that was appreciated, but this never should have happened in the first place. Very pretty course and I was excited to golf there for the first thing, but I was very disappointed in how they ran their course and their lack of professionalism.

I rate courses on two things usually: Pace of play and conditions of greens. The course exceeded both of my expectations. Was able to play in under 4 hours (a few hangups were expected) and the greens were firm, fast and rolled good. While the greens are very challenging with subtle slopes you cant see, after a few rounds youll have the hang of it. Some holes are wide open, and others are target golf. Its a nice mix in a rural setting with some forced carries. Customer service was also very friendly and welcoming, unlike many city ran courses. Keep it up!

I cannot rate the course, as I have not played it, but I can speak to the level of customer relations. My story goes; I bought gift certificates for four rounds of golf for my parents for Christmas for the 2016 season. When the envelope with the gift certificates was mailed to me, it was just after the holidays and I set the envelope aside.I later realized I had lost the envelope. This was painful and I never ended up finding the darn thing.Well, as it would go, I just recently found the envelope while having to repair a water line behind my fridge. I called Cattails to give them my sob story and explained that I understood this was two seasons ago, but I would be ever grateful if they would just honor two rounds of golf rather than four. The manager simply said these were too old. I said I really understand that these are very dated, but was hoping for some empathy as I had paid for four rounds of golf, did not get to use them, and could I just be credited for two rounds? I told him I would even bring a foursome so that way two of our four would be paying. To that, NOPE, they are too old....Thanks Cattails. It is my mistake, but it really would have been nice if you could of worked with me somehow. You got your money, tough luck to the guy that made an honest mistake....*** Update; The manager, Jason, got in contact with me and was very cooperative and gracious. Very classy customer service. Changing my rating on management and customer service to five starts. I will rate the golf course after I get to play it.*** Update IIGot to play the course on Saturday and it was great. Met with Jason when checking in, and the customer service continued to be great. Had an awesome Bloody Mary made for us at the bar before going out, and then thoroughly enjoyed this course. It was in great condition, challenging holes with character, and well kept. Friendly staff and great course. Really enjoyed my round of golf. Thanks

Pace of play detracted from any positives this course had to offer. Waited well beyond our scheduled tee time. The group of three young men in front of us were playing from the back tees, and two of them didnt hit the ball past the end of the tee box TWICE!! The starter didnt say a word. No ranger available. Two groups backed up on several holes. We finally could take it no longer, we hung it up on 13 at the 4:45 mark. Met a group in the parking lot that quit after 8 holes, where they were 4 deep waiting. Too many holes running tight beside one another, and one hole, thw cart path takes you right into the line of fire from thw group teeing off ahead of you. Positivea were the greens rolled very true, and the price was hard to beat. If a 6 hour plus round is your thing, this is the course for youWe wont be back.

The overall layout is ok... some holes are just setup funny... blind teeshots with hazards in the middle of the fairway?? Weird... many of the holes on the back nine are irons off the tee so if you prefer to pound drivers off every tee you might not like this course. The greens are often unglelating but roll pretty good... pace is iffy at best, good luck

This course used to be my favorite. But now its not being taken care of at all. First impression the womens bathroom is about disgusting as ever. Paper was all over floor. Ceiling fan is barely hanging in tile. Door broke. Faucets and mirror were so dirty. Mat on floor probably hasnt been swept or cleaned in months. Filthy. And this isnt the first time Ive seen this.Course is in good shape. Starting to let Cattails get way to high. Cant even see fairways in some holes when you tee off.

Prior to tee off, we specifically asked the course manager if there were any events that day since we tend to play a little slower than normal. He said there wasnt anything going on that day, so we played the front nine (while letting other groups play through) and stopped for lunch in the clubhouse instead of just grabbing it and continuing. We spent a good amount of money on drinks in the bar (8 beers and 4 shots plus food), then bought $60 worth of beer for the back nine. Before we could start the back nine, the front desk told us there is a golf league that night (apparently there are leagues every night of the week) and they told us we couldnt resume for another 2 hours, or they would write us vouchers for 9 holes. They also wouldnt let us return the 12 beers we bought for $60. The fairways and tee boxes were good, the greens were only ok, the staff were apologetic but uninformed, and the course manager blatantly lied to us. I will never be returning to this course.
