Definitely a must to visit either by boat or shore. It is a mile hike down the hill from the parking lot with several areas to stop and take in the beauty. Once you arrive you can take a tour of the Vikingsholm or hike the Rubicon trail. The trail takes you around the bay. By boat you get a different perspective and a closer look at the island. Either way, its an amazing site and a must see.
I cant compare it with NY, Lake Tahoe but anyway it is nice and beautiful. You can enjoy more here walking and watching the nature. You may drive in higher elevation, one lane and you will face with a few sharp curves (only new drivers). Dont afraid it very nice a new experience for you. Anyway you will enjoy driving and the الله nature. Happy !!
Beautiful views and I love to view the tiny island below. Interesting history. Native American history is mentioned but European settler history is more detailed. Id love to hear more about its Native American history. I do understand that is less documented but that can be changed with intention. This is an amazing spot to stop on a gorgeous drive around Lake Tahoe. It is a must see.
Be careful with parking. The small lot isnt big enough for the .crowds. Even in off season. The toilets look nice from the outside, but are vile on the inside. The view is awesome, and worth the trouble. Please socially distance and wear a mask. You dont know any of the many people there so so be safe.
The views were as described by others, breathtaking. Highly recommend the perimeter drive.
Great spot right off the highway, fairly a lot of parking in the area (small parking lot, but lots of shoulder and theres a nearby campground to also park at and walk across the highway). Bathrooms were open during COVID, but its an outhouse-style one - about four rooms. Lots of room for social distancing and nice backdrops for family photos. The signboards had interesting facts about the island.
So much wow! Late July is the best, highly recommend
River was almost dry but very senic place with nice trials. Alot of cool unmarked paths as well.
It is a very well laid out campsite. You do have to drive to any of the beaches around Lake Tahoe. But from a campsite standpoint its one of the best. Open spacious and set in the woods. 1 of the better ones at tahoe
So Beautiful words cant describe
Must stop on your drive around Lake Tahoe. If you get a chance take a quick hike to Eagle Falls (trail head right behind this stop). Even if the falls arent flowing, it is a beautiful hike up.
Beautiful scenery. Entrance sign is not clear. Easy to miss.
The winding narrow road is sooo scary. If youre afraid of heights like me. It is so worth it at the top the lake is beautiful the view is unbelievable. Must stop if you have the patience to find a parking spot.
An amazing overview of the lake with some historical details about the place. There is a free car parking area and restrooms with it as well.
Perfect view. Very pleasing. But hard to find parking.
Visit Tahoe at least once a year. This place is always a favorite spot to spot. You have great Vista views and a hiking trail across the street.
The view is absolutely amazing. We went early so parking was easy but by 10AM parking would be tough.
Beautiful views. Scary road to drive around tahoe. Very busy with tourists.
Crazy views of the lake and Emerald Bay. Can get crowded, but worth the stop. And there are restrooms too!
Very inspiring although beware of the crowds especially during covid. Saw some folks not wearing masks and there’s definitely not enough room to maintain a 6 foot distance. Overall it was a good point to stop and capture a photo.
Breathtaking location! I went in the summer, so I cant speak for winter conditions. There were lots of spots to stop and get out to enjoy the views. There are also some waterfalls that you can visit in the area.
A definite must-do if you visit Tahoe...absolutely stunning. Be careful as you park because cars like to zoom past you.
Never enough time to take in its beauty. Many trip bring me back. I feel something spiritual when Im there!
Beautiful ride around the lake. Lake Tahoe is a place to see if you havent. Dont want to miss out on the beauty of Gods creation.
Wow outdoor beauty at it grandest a drive around the entire lake takes a while especially when you stop to take in the sights but it is well worth doing this is a dont miss place
Very scenic views! Loved the signage, giving lots of interesting information! Learned about the only island in Lake Tahoe.
Beautiful view of Emerald Bay. Ramp access for wheelchairs. Plus telescopes to over look into bay
Very busy, but beautiful lookout of the bay and lake. You can read about the history of the area. The colors from that viewpoint are stunning, with different shades of green and blue.
I can see why its called Inspiration point, it inspired me to see with my heart and not with the words we attach to things. To see things as they are before theyre tainted with expectations. Before they have a chance to be what we think they are, just to witness them, observe them, look upon them simply to see, no need for understanding, that flows when you truly see. Step up to the pulpit amd express your love for the universe before you call it god, even before we call it the universe. Live it.
One of the free activities to do while visiting Tahoe. View is awesome, great way to see Lake Tahoe. Vilkingholm castle is just up the road.
Beautiful view and a great place for a picnic. Get there early to beat the crowds
Beautiful views. Crowded. Limited parking. Go early
This has to be a planned stop if you are driving around the lake. Beautiful views a picture opportunities at a safe turnout with close parking spots.
Gorgeous views, if a little icy in the parking lot. Stairs were clear though
One of my favourite places of Lake Tahoe. Awesome views of the lake and Emerald bay. Especially beautiful at sunset or sunrise and even better in winter with the snow. There are even better lookout points (more centered) a bit down the road, but there are no oficial parking spots to stop and take picture.
I love our National Parks without a doubt.
The beauty of Lake Tahoe speaks for itself. There are mamy lookout points and interesting info.
Emerald Bay is a must see when in Tahoe. Florida does not have this type of terrain and we were not sure about hiking down and then back up as it was fairly steep. We just took our time and didnt hurry. Loved it!
Good view of The Hermit and small Island. Parking is fine and you dont need to do any trials to view the scenic Tahoe in front of you.
The drive is a burden. If you dont get in early or late, it will be crowded. Parking lot is convenient but small, many cars parked along the road. All in all, Im not sure it was worth our time.
A magical place early in the morning.
Beautiful views. A great place.
A good place for a quick pit stop and look at lake tahoe and capture pictures.
2nd best place to see Tahoe ... but too many people
I stopped at a subway on my way here, then parked and sat and ate my lunch at this overlook and was so beautiful and peaceful. It is now burnt into my memory where I can close my eyes and see it to this day.
The views will not disappoint however, the drive getting there is not for everyone.
The best place to view sunrise.
Wow! A must see if you are on this side of the lake, it is gorgeous
Gorgeous! Busy.Breathtaking views of Emerald Bay and more.Only dirt hole toilets. Youd think theyd put flushers in a spot this popular
Most breathe taking place ive been too
Theres an easy access view from a walkway lookout attached to the roadside parking lot. We even saw a bear come check out the lot trash cans!
Its a nice vista point (when not crowded), but not great photo spot. Other side of the Emerald Bay is much better for taking photos (or using a drone).
This place is a view of heaven. On a calm day you can see turquoise water. I stayed there for a while, calm, relaxing .
Incredible mountain and lake views. Great place to start many hikes. If you go here, be sure to also stop by nearby Vikingsholm. Bring a camera, because this is where you’re going to want to take your Tahoe photos.
Stunning views. Hard to get parked. Show up really early in the morning for the ease of finding a spot.
Always one of my favorite views.
Beautiful place, and you can drive right up here to this location.
The name of this place says it all. The views are heart achingly beautiful even cloudy weather. Words cant describe, pictures dont do justice... you must just go and experience for yourself.
I absolutely fell in love with Lake Tahoe. The place was beautiful, even through the smoke.
Cali suxs. Its well known and documented.
Amazing view and definitely worth the short hike down to the bottom (0.5mi) to see the water and bay close up.
Beautiful place for a quick stop. Busy when there in July. A couple overused pit toilets. There are a couple nice trailheads close by.
Its an iconic location with ample parking and a good overlook to peer down to Emerald Bay.Following day we rented a boat and were down on the water circling the island. The Tahoe basin and the lake are a treasure.
Beautiful place, has parking tickets and its worth driving west of tahoe . Visit eagle falls which is very close by this place.
Always breathtaking even with the smokey dense skies due to the local wildfires.
Its so beautiful landscape
Loved the hike to the top of Maggies peak. Gorgeous views of Lake Tahoe Emerald Bay Granite Lake Cascade Lake and Fallen Leaf Lake, you can see all the way to Mount Rose
Some of the best views of Emerald Bay from this location. Parking can be tough, however.
SOOOO BEAUTIFUL! But, scary roads so be careful! Also, not a lot of parking but it was all worth it.
Great place to stop and take in the beauty of Lake Tahoe. If you go, go early in the morning. Get there by 9 in the morning, at least. Same goes for Vikingsholm. Parking will be darn near nonexistent after that. Youll have to park on the side of the road. Plus, it just get so crowded that its almost unenjoyable.
Good view, overall is good place to visit
Amazing view across the lake, material about the area is up to date and really helps bring the area to life and gives great historical context. If you have time you have to visit it!
A must see when visiting Tahoe. This whole area has some amazing views.
Quick stop for beautiful views of Emerald Bay
If youre here try the emerald falls hike, I didnt have time this time. Huge expansive view
The only complaint here is parking. Of course, there is not much that can be done without ruining the views and reasons for coming there in the first place. This is definitely a great place to come to get great photos and awesome views.
Third best view point of emerald Bay. Has big parking lot but still tough to get parking in summer. Has rest rooms and food truck in summer. Snow. Covered in winter so use caution.
Gods in His Heaven Alls right with the world. One of Creations finest endeavors.
This is a great place to see Emerald Bay the island in the middle. This vantage point overlooks the bay there are Trails heading down or you can take a boat. I would highly recommend this vantage point.
Beautiful scenery to look over Emerald Bay
What a beautiful spot and great outdoor spot to photograph.
Ive been here in summer and it is absolutely stunning! For those who cant hike this is a perfect Vista point to see the Lake in all its glory. Even if you do hike this is a great spot. I have been there is summer and in winter and it is soooo different at these both times. These are the winter pictures. Though the snow is so high it reached past and over the railings so safety is a little bit of an issue. But if your careful and fine go close to the edge you still get the same view and its beautiful.
The views are gorgeous and its a great little alternativentontrying to park at the Emerald bay site.
Amazing views... stories and memories... the perfect spot for taking pictures of families, views and selfies...
Beautiful viewpoint definitely worth the drive. Might be a bear to find parking.
Come out sunset or first thing in the morning for ample parking and gorgeous views of Emerald Bay!
Probably one of my top 10 views. So much better in person. Im guessing better during off season too cause lake wasnt completely packed with boats n people
OMG must see
It was a beautiful day with the weather just in the mid to high 40s. It was clear a bit chilly with a little wind; nevertheless a gorgeous day and amazing views
Absolutely gorgeous overlook, just down the road from the walk down to Vikingsholm!
Gorgeous place to watch wildlife and read interpretive material about the lake ahead.
AWESOME! A true must see. We have to come and look every time we come to Tahoe.
What can I say some of the most beutifull vistas God ever created just gorgeous!
Even though there is a parking lot, it wasnt big enough for the Friday early Oct crowd .. cant imagine what its like in peak season. Beautiful view overlooking Emerald Bay. We parked along the street. Definately worth stopping for.
This scenic vantage point is located along a great drive with a lot of beautiful stopping points along the way. It offered a fantastic view of emerald bay and had some interesting history placards. There was some benches for resting and stretching your legs also. I highly recommend taking a few hours out of your trip to the area and driving out there. We went out to hike the eagle falls loop and I definitely took the most photos of the entire trip along the way.
Do not miss this place. Beautiful!
