My son and I stopped in on a Tuesday morning and the woman in the office seemed surprised to see us, she even asked us how we got in ( she was in another room getting her lunch at the time). We told her that it was on a list of things to do in a brochure at our hotel. She said they only give tours by appointment and there was a fee. I asked to come back at 4pm and she confirmed and would tell Ashley. We returned at 4pm and Ashley seemed surprised to see us. She had not been told and after a little hesitation on her part, she said sure. She took our fee and entered an office where Im going to assume sat the Manager. While Ashley was pulling herself together to do an impromptu tour, the Manager walked past us out the door with no acknowledgment whatsoever....not even a thank you for stopping in. Ashley continued with the tour and was very pleasant. She showed us several animals that had been injured and were now staying at their facility as well as a few more exotic animals in aquariums or cages. A back room led to several doors with a picture of a winged animal inside. You had to stand on tippy toes to look through a small window to catch a glimpse. The animals had logs and doors to perch on plus they were able to go outside from an exit door from each of the rooms. Feathers and excrement were everywhere. Ashley was able to get one of the smaller birds onto her arm and bring it to where my son and I were in the hallway. Then Ashley took us outside to see a few of the birds in their living structures. Ashley was a knowledgeable tour guide. My son and I still got in the car and looked at each other and agreed well, that was wierd. They are doing a wonderful job of rehabilitating injured animals but they should be a little more upbeat and prepared for visitors, Manager should be more welcoming, and the animals water in cages needed to be changed ASAP. Filthy dirty water!

My husband and I had the privilege of visiting the Liberty Nature Center today! We were the first tour since the COVID19 hit. We enjoyed getting to see all the neat wildlife, raptors, baby fox, and farm animals. The staff were very friendly and do a great job with the animals. They are a blessing to Kentucky wildlife. We will be back for sure!
