My family stayed at this resort last Summer. It was a terrible experience and I would not recommend it to anyone. The River is convenient but it’s essentially in someone’s yard, not a “campground” by any stretch. The owner was constantly yelling at us and our kids and was just overall aggressive. Specifically to the women and children in our group. The kids that lived there were very polite kids and played well with the kids in our group. Even with that, I’m disappointed that we spent so much money to be treated the way we were. Believe all of the bad reviews. This guy is a jerk. Save your money and camp somewhere that you’ll actually be able to enjoy yourself.
Fabulous spot. Beautiful property right on one of the best fishing spots on the river. We Fished for Kings and Reds right from shore and we also chartered a boat an guide, caught a couple of 40lb King Salmons. You can also rent fishing rods and equipment, the expert fishing owners and sons showed us how to fish the river with success. Family run by a welcoming and super accommodating couple and their two sons. They helped us plan our one week stay with on and off site activities, including fjord boat tours and halibut fishing. We have been on the road for six weeks and this was by far our best week of our extended road trip. If you want a personalized experience this is a great spot.
Believe all the bad reviews and do not go there. They are all true. Worst place ever!Update: We stayed at this resort September 2019. We wanted to enjoy one last camping weekend before the winter and the owner ruined it in any way. Read the reviews below, they are all true, sadly!
Such an Amazing vacation, Jim and Cindy were super friendly and gave the best welcome. I loved being able to spend time with my family fishing and relaxing on the river bank. The Nelson family are the nicest hosts and truly made my trip.
My Wife and I ended our Alaskan RV Trip with Jim & Cindy @ The Kenai Riverfront Resort. It was a great end to an already great trip. We highly recommend the Resort. Why?Location, location, location - You are literally on the river, steps away from your RV. You can fish anytime you want.Amenities - Tired of showering/bathing in your RV? Use the shower up at the house AND try out the true Finnish sauna...just make sure your pronounce it sounah :)Fishing - If youre new to fishing the Kenai, Jim & Cindy will give you all the pointers you need. You can also rent all the equipment you will need if you dont have your own. There is a filleting station RIGHT ON THE RIVER. I cant tell you how cool it was to not only catch fish, but then to simply walk them over to the filet station and watch/learn as Jim filleted the fish (they will also help you pack/freeze it for the trip home). All for reasonable prices.Lastly, the Hospitality - Jim & Cindy are wonderful hosts. If you need any pointers on fishing, eating, hiking, ANYTHING Alaska, Id bet they would be able to point you in the right direction...and theyre more than happy to do so.Thank you Jim & Cindy for such a wonderful time and we hope to see you again.Matt & Marisa
Me and my family are from Florida and we wanted to go to Alaska so we went in an RV and were traveling throughout all of Alaska from state parks to the top rated campgrounds but nothing came even close to the Kenai Riverfront Resort. We got there and right away I noticed it was one of the cleanest nicest campgrounds I’ve ever been too, and it is on the water with great salmon fishing. But most of all the family that runs the campground is the nicest people you will ever meet they welcomed us in like family, and we were hoping only to stay for a day because we wanted to see the rest of Alaska but because of how good the camp was and how nice everything was we ended up staying for three nights and we loved every minute of it from the fishing to everyone sitting around the fire and the best part of all of it was getting to know the wonderful family that owns it and by the end of our stay we felt like family.(Also the showers we really great) but all together it is one of the best campgrounds I have ever been too.
After hearing the awful experience my family had at this resort, I would never recommend this resort to anyone. The way they treat their guests is unbelievable, I’ve never heard of such despicable hosts. After 7 years of wonderful fishing in Alaska, Kenai Riverfront resort really took the enjoyment out of a great outing.
Kenai Riverfront Resort is a beautiful spot RIGHT on the river! Amazing river access and an amazing experience. This along with private, clean and quiet facilities and amazing customer service makes this the best place to stay on the Kenai river!
If you want to feel like you died and went to heaven, the Kenai Riverfront Resort is the place for you!! Jim & Cindy and their twin boys are in charge of this pristine Paradise Resort and are at your beck and call ----everything from fish processing (clean/vacuum pack/store) to lattes delivered to your door, to authentic Finnish saunas--just ask ---their friendly smiling faces are always ready to help, inform, wait on you. The grounds are immaculate and are kept up 24/7. Their knowledge and respect for the environment is evident in everything from the carefully manicured grounds to the bank side fishing locations to their beautifully tended garden and lawn areas. Big and small kids alike are welcome to play any number of sports on the beautifully tree lined grass areas or just sit around the fire ring and enjoy the quiet peaceful ambiance. Their twin boys are multitalented and extremely helpful and might even break out their guitars for a sing-along! Go and enjoy the best place this side of heaven !! ️
This was absolutely the highlight of mine and my parents trip to Alaska! The Nelson family are the sweetest people ever (including the famous cat, Dasher). When you stay with them.. you aren’t just their guests, you become part of a family. They are so so so friendly and absolutely outstanding altogether. Tj and Cj are amazing with helping those who need it and are a success in running the “Snack and Tack”. The boys were so friendly and polite to my family and I, I know I’ll miss them along with Jim and his wife, Cindy. This family goes the extra mile to make sure everyone is having a blast and an amazing time. Everyone who stays at the Riverfront eventually becomes one big family. Whether it’s sitting around the community campfire or helping your neighbor net a fish.. everyone becomes a giant community. I know I made some amazing memories here and I will for sure be back sometime in my lifetime. The Kenai Riverfront definitely made my Alaskan vacation.. The Alaskan Dream. Thank you so much for everything Jim, Cindy, Tj and Cj! I will never forget what I learned and the memories from your family. Thank you so much!
Its a shame that this owner, Jim was so rude and overbearing. Because the location was pretty and we loved the group campfire area. The owner constantly paced the property and hovered over all of us. I understand its his property but maybe you shouldnt own an establishment for camping and families if it stresses you out so bad. Also note that this is basically a house with camp spots in their yard. Definitely not a typical campground. We paid $200 to camp in someones yard. Ill definitely not recommend this place!
If you are looking for a quiet place to relax by the water look no further than the Kenai Riverfront Resort. Jim, Cindy, CJ and TJ are wonderful hosts with something rare and truly amazing. We have stayed there four times in the last few years and have had an amazing experience every single time! Their property is maintained very well and kept very clean. It is not your average public campground, it truly is a resort that we cannot wait to visit again soon!Thank you all for your little piece of heaven on the Kenai, the experience and the memories will not soon be forgotten!
Best spot to stay and enjoy amazing fishing on the Kenai river! Beautiful scenery, amazing customer service, and many once in a lifetime memories to share with friends and family!
Kenai Riverfront Resort, is a GREAT family ran Resort that Myself and wife will continue to go back to as long as we keep visiting the Kenai River area. They have wonderful Family Values that show in the offerings of the Resort. Thank-you Jim, Cindy, CJ, & TJ.,
Our group had an outstanding experience with the Nelson family! Jim, Cindy, and boys were so friendly and helpful! Bathroom and other amenities were spotless and comfortable. We are definitely going back to the Kenai Riverfront Resort the next chance we get! Thank you Nelson Family!
If the exorbitant cost at Kenai Riverfront Resort, Soldotna has not persuaded you to look elsewhere for lodging, perhaps my family’s experience with Jim, the owner, will. An unusual and unfortunate encounter that soured what should have been a nice family vacation. Bottom line: the owner is extremely controlling, belittling, impersonal, hot-tempered and disrespectful, and should not be in the hospitality business. Detailed review provided on Yelp and Tripadvisor.
My two sons and I recently spent eleven days in a motor home on the Kenai. We stayed at five different campgrounds. The Kenai Riverfront Resort is the best place we stayed at by far. Jim and Cindy Nelson and their two boys are the best hosts you can imagine. They helped us plan our whole trip and we spent the last three days at their resort. What a beautiful place. Jim booked a salmon fishing charter with Mark, the best guide on the river. Caught our limit of 18 pinks in about one hour.Would definitely go back to their place.Dave Morse
Weather was rainy so we wanted to give us enough time to get there, we got there 20 min prior to check in time and were told to leave & we’d be punished by pushing our check in time back an extra hour. We have camped MANY places along the Kenai Peninsula & we were shocked to be treated that way at such a highly recommended place. Our excitement to be there quickly turned sour on my daughter’s birthday. Other than that it was a nice place but much too expensive.
Exceeded all expectations! My husband and I were booked to stay at another RV park close by but when we arrived, we were turned off by the parking lot. Then we found Kenai Riverfront Resort and it was just perfect! Beautiful spot, right on the river, folks catching fish from the dock, nice fire burning, friendly hosts (family run and everyone was so helpful & courteous). We set up and stayed a week. Enjoyed the clean shower and sauna! Excellent fishing...caught 2 King Salmon right out front! Might have paid a little more to stay here but worth every dime! Hosts helped us book great charters in nearby Homer and Seward. Best stop yet on our 5 month trip!
I had the best time of my life here fishing, relaxing by the fire, and more fishing! The location is the perfect place to catch amazing fish, and is easy even if you havent done it before. I caught lots of sockeyes, a king, a silver, and a dolly vardon! The property was absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking. The Nelson family was so kind and generous to me, and helped me have an incredible experience! It truly fulfilled the Alaska dream and I couldnt have been happier with my stay! If there is one place to go in Alaska its Kenai Riverfront Resort!
REPEATED GUEST, THE PERFECT SPOT !I have been traveling to Alaska for over 25 years, the last 11 of which I became a resident.I have had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the state and experience much of the pristine beauty that this state . Subsequently, I have spent a large portion of my time in the Kenai Peninsula enjoying the fishing that it has to offer. My most REPEATED stay has been at the Kenai Riverfront Resort for the past 10 years. Whether you’re staying for the day, or an extended visit, the setting is ideal for an individual and even more conducive for multiple families as well. There is no question about the setting and hospitality that leaves a lasting impression for that quintessential Alaskan experience.Proprietors Jim and Cindy Nelson, along with their family, have never fallen short of making your stay anything less than memorable. When it comes to all aspects of Hospitality, the Nelson family have nailed it !!!! They have consistently proven and committed that your stay will exceed your expectations. The property sits on a lengthy stretch of the Kenai River. This makes for a PRIME fishing setting. The Nelsons have shown expert knowledge of the river and it’s “inhabitants”. They’ll show and advise for the BEST results. Personally, I have never been disappointed and proud to give 5 star rating!
We were so lucky that a random booking at the Kenai Riverfront Resort has netted us some new friends and many return trips! Jim and Cindy have made us feel like family each and every time we come to stay, but we consider it a visit. Upon our arrival, Cindy made sure we had a nice snack to revive us....and Jim is enthusiastic about the fabulous fishing to be found on the world-class Kenai River. Our room was spacious and looked right out at the river. You can fish from their riverbank and youll pull in some winners! Plus we love the Sauna, (Sow-Na :)which they are happy to heat up for anyone game for a sweat! It is a peaceful location and the Nelson Family are all great people. Once, when I slept through a ride to a fishing date, Cindy graciously gave me a ride, in her pajamas! I should have snapped a photo! You will cherish your time at the Kenai Riverfront Resort! Jackie Purcell and Dannie Pearson of Anchorage, Alaska.
Great stay. Caught lots of fish. The Nelsons were great hosts. They sell handmande flies and help teach you the Kenai Flip. Ill be back next season.
Quiet & clean location with river access
Wow, what a experience, just wish I could say it was good. Upon arrival, following instructions, we moved barrier from driveway, proceeded to office, there we only found a note on door. After calling number on note things got bad. It was our first encounter with the owner, who’s first words to us were,”I see you have infiltrated us”. Then to chew us out for moving the sign. After this we were taken on tour of his campgrounds, seemed nice enough, but quickly turned bad again. We were asked to sign paper with all his rules, hearing his comment, “no one reads anymore”. He seemed really proud of his fine print. During his tour he told me I would have to disarm, we had just came off the river from fishing, and in bear county I do carry a larger pistol than my every day carry. I also work in law Enforcement, which is enough reason in itself and allows me to carry in most places. He told me “if North Korea invaded he would holler for us, until then we would need to disarm”.It was during the obligatory tour we were informed of bath house hours, opened at 9:00 A.M., which if fishing is the middle of day, showers would be closed before returning from fishing. It was then we were told no water or sewer hookups available, and a lesson on pronunciation of the word “sauna”. We were instructed to pronounce his Finnish word correctly. We were giving a lesson on light switch, and pointed to cleaning supplies if we left restrooms dirty. After asking about hookups we were again told “ no one reads anymore, we could drive to Fred Meyers to dump”. He also wanted to charge us $100 for our tow vehicle, because it was against his rules. It was at this point it turned ugly, were told again to disarm or leave. We quickly agreed to leave upon refund of the four nights we had paid for, only to hear, “you have 5 minutes to leave or I will call Alaskan state troopers”. There were never any threats made against owner, and yes he violated my rights, yes we stopped payment on credit card, only to have owner lie more to take my $400.00 for not staying with this pompous owner. I will say great location, but not enough to overcome all the problems with owner. If you book here make sure you read the fine print. If you believe in 2nd amendment, pass this one by.
Super Lage und eine ganz wunderbar herzliche Eigentümerfamilie. Der geräucherte Lachs hier ist ein Traum. Man kann natürlich auch selber angeln. Sehr saubere Sanitärräume.Update 2020: we planned to come back and contacted Jim early this year. From the beginning it felt like coming back to friends that we havent seen for a while. Jim and his family were super helpful helping us to plan our trip to the Kenai Peninsula with must-see and must-do tips. Unfortunately COVID-19 crossed out our plans and we must stay at home this year. Again, Jim was very responsive and flexible to find solutions to satisfy our needs, now that we cant travel this year. Thanks a lot!We keep looking forward to come back as soon as possible. Hopefully not only to do some fishing, but also to do some catching :-)
Our family of 8 arrived in July of 2009 to the Kenai Riverfront Resort anticipating a great fishing experience . The Nelson family was there to heartily welcome us and it was an unbelievable week! Kings and Reds were caught, friendships were made, family volleyball and campfire sings, and it was so great WE ARE HEADED BACK! July 2017 here we come! See you soon!Tim and Dana SchneiderEllington Connecticut
My wife and I just returned from an awesome week at Kenai Riverfront and cannot say enough great things about our stay. It started with our initial contact with the owners, Jim & Cindy Nelson, to arrange our trip. They promptly supplied us with all the information we needed and cheerfully answered all of our questions. They took care of everything including booking our fishing guide and suggesting other activities available such as a scenic, fly-in fishing package or chasing halibut in Cook Inlet. We booked the Riverfront Suite and were pleasantly surprised with not only the accommodations - which are fantastic - but also the friendliness and attention to detail that the whole Nelson family showed us. The suite was fully appointed with a refrigerator, microwave, shower, and warm, comfortable beds. With a Finnish sauna just outside our door, we had everything we could possibly want. They gave us a tour of the facilities and showed us how to fish for the Sockeye (Red) salmon that were moving up the river. Oh, and did I mention that the Kenai River is about 100 feet from where you sleep? It was so nice to wake up in the morning, walk a few feet to the river and start catching 10 pound Red salmon before breakfast! Kenai Riverfront really is the whole package and we could not have been happier with our stay.We love Alaska and we love the Kenai. Now that we have stayed at Kenai Riverfront with the Nelsons, we will never stay anywhere else.Jeff and Deb
On a family RV trip through Alaska we stumbled upon the Kenai Riverfront Resort and fell in love with the natural beauty of this hidden gem! It has something for everyone, from fishing on the Kenai to biking down a lovely country road to feed the neighbor horses...and the best part of our time there...a good old fashioned Kid vs Adults volleyball game! The sauna on site really came in handy after that! Our entire family agrees this is the blue ribbon winner for places to visit! Many thanks to the Nelson family for making our trip memorable. Cant wait to come back and see the Snack & Tack in action!
We have spent two week here now and it is much more than we were hoping for! We have changed the plans of our trip now and will be coming back for another two weeks in August. Cindy, Jim and their sons are so nice and helpful with any of our needs. The fishing has been very fun and convenient, we just walk out of our camper and fish the river bank and my wife and I caught our first Alaska salmon right here on their sons TJ & CJs custom tied sockeye flies! They helped us fillet our salmon and even showed us some great ways to cook it. So Nice. We have decided to come back next year for the whole summer!
Fabulous location - right on the river. Stayed in the riverfront suite accommodation. Very comfortable and well-looked after by hosts Jim and Cindy. House is right on the river - our guide picked us up from the dock right on the property. Look forward to returning.
Where do I start. Arrived an hour and fifteen minutes before check in time an were chewed out and asked to leave and return at the proper time. No sewer hookup or dump station, no water at site, and the 30 amp electric us rarely 30 amp. I lost electric 3 times in to days because it dropped down so low. One restroom and one shower for the entire campground and you cant shower before 9:00 am. Its in the two pages of rules you will get when you arive and must sign to obey. It is on the river so fishing is convenient. Its also the most expensive campground we have stayed at from Ohio to Alaska.
My wife and I found this place on a whim during our honeymoon. We knew we wanted to see the Kenai area and wanted something with access to a good fishing spot. When we got to the Kenai Riverfront Resort, we were a little hesitant due to the surrounding area but as soon as we got to the office and met the Nelson family, we were instantly happy we gave it a chance. The grounds were beautiful, the riverfront was amazing, but the best part of it was the family. We were welcomed by the whole family at the door and treated us as if we were part of the family all along. Jim and his wife were very down to earth and pleasant to talk to. Their sons, TJ and CJ, were very respectful and helped us understand any nuances with Alaskan river fishing. The family was busy enough to not intrude on quiet time with my new wife but were more than willing to come fishing on the river with us whenever they had down time. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay at a beautiful riverfront area and interact with amazing people. We are definitely going to stay here again next time we are in the Kenai area!
By far this was the most incredible experience our family has ever had. We literally accidentally stumbled upon this resort and it was the highlight of our 1 month journey across North America. Our original destination was to Homer Alaska so we only slipped into the resort for one night. The next day we continued on our trip to Homer and Homer Spit. We stayed one night in Homer then because the whole family loved the Kenai Riverfront Resort, we went back to The Nelson familys and stayed a week. We even had our 17 year old son fly in from Atlanta just to have the opportunity to meet them and enjoy the Resort. The owners of this resort were amazing. The two young men CJ and TJ were incredible friendly, very knowledgeable, and extremely patient while showing my sons how to fish for salmon. From the very beginning they all treated us like we were lifelong friends. The entire host family was very much involved with making the Kenai River an unforgettable experience. We even tried some of their recipes from their website with the Red Sockeye Salmon my 12 year old caught off their dock. My children wanted to go back everyday of our long journey back home. Every day they would ask Can we go back to Kenai? My children will never forget Alaska and it is entirely because of Kenai Riverfront Resort and the incredible hospitality of the Nelson Family and their slice of paradise on the Kenai River.
We made reservations for two motorhomes. When we arrived we were told that we would be charged an additional $25.00 per night for our towed vehicle payable immediately, payable in cash. We were required to follow the owner around the campground so that he could point out all the amenities and the rules pertaining to them. For example, the single shower was only available from 9 am to 8:45 pm. I dont normally wait until the middle of the day to bathe. There was also a single bathroom available and he pointed out the cleaning supplies and told us to clean it if it was dirty. There are no sewer dumps or individual water for the sites so you either use their facility or you have to go to town five miles away and dump. The last straw from the owner was when he discriminated against us because of our beliefs. We told him we did not feel comfortable staying at this site. He immediately told us there would be no refund. When I told him this was not right to keep my money he told us we had five minutes to leave or he was calling the troopers. We left and found a very nice campground in Ninilchik. I called my credit card company and canceled the transaction. We camped at Kenai Riverfront Resort in a Motorhome.
If efficient management, professional service, and immaculate facilities dont attract you - then go for the Nelsons - easily one of Alaskas best kept secrets. They are generous, kind, and will share with you their Alaskan Dream. And a wonderful dream it is. Not to be missed.
Such a lovely family-friendly location to experience the real Alaska. We stayed at the Kenai riverfront resort for 1 night on the way to Homer. The owner was very accommodating since we just called in th day before. All of us especially the kids had an amazing time. We mad so many good memories here. Kids got to catch some fish.. really big ones too. The Nelson family were such amazing hosts who made us all feel at home. The location is the best on the Kenai river. We moved on to Homer. We had 3 days left in our 2 week vacation. We asked the kids which place would they like to go spend the next(last) 3 nights. They chose to go back to Kenai river front resort. So called Jim (the owner) and pulled back into our site. The next 3 days of fishing, campfire and pure relaxation at the location.Although we were in an RV, happened to checkout their guest suites. They were cozy and comfortable with an amazing view of the river and property. This is a top of the bucket list item for anyone visiting Alaska.
Fantastic place to relax and catch fish! Great accommodations and very friendly service. My wife even caught her first king salmon here. Great place to get away from it all for the entire family.
My family And I até from Brazil, and I planned the whole trip, and Kenai Riverfront Resort Was one of our stops. Definitely It Was the best choice of the whole trip, what a wonderful, well mantained And beautiful place. No words to describe Jim and his family, they even teached us How to fish for salmon. All I can say is that If you are planning an Alaska trip, this MUST be one of your stops.
This is a beautiful place for the family. Right next to the Kenai river. Extremely clean. CJ was awsome and the welcome smoke salmon was out of this world. The owner, Jim, comiunicated with us all the time. Great place to go fishing and relax!!!
Absolutely breath taking resort that is right on the Kenai River.. you can be fishing as soon as you step out of your vehicle!!! Jim, Cindy and their boys TJ and CJ were more than welcoming to us and treated us like family. Their hospitality was genuine and they ensured that everybody’s stay was comfortable and relaxing. Despite being book-up the family always made sure that the bathroom was very clean!!! There is a great store on-site that has snacks, drinks, hats, t-shirts and many other items. TJ and CJ have a constant smile and are always willing to help.We ate fresh smoked salmon that was amazing!!I would recommend this beautiful resort to anyone looking for a quiet family-friendly place to spend your Alaska dream...can’t wait to return!! Thank you all again!Laura, Nebraska
Everything about this place is great - the sites, the location right on the beautiful Kenai River, the great fishing lessons from sons CJ and TJ, and the friendliness of the whole family who owns the resort. We loved being able to sit around the fire and chat with the boys (a bonus for my teenage daughters who dont tend to see a lot of kids their age in RV parks) and be treated to the Alaska Dream. Cant wait to go back soon!
We had a great experience RV camping at this beautiful and serene family(kid) friendly Kenai Riverfront Resport. The wooded private spots flanked by the river is dwellers paradise. Jim, Cindy, TJ and CJ (The Nelson Family) went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. My husband and Son enjoyed fishing the Kenai River and caught beautiful Rainbow Trouts and were pumped with excitement. The entire fishing gear can be rented at the Tack and Snack shop run by Jims amazing twin boys who will make sure you have the right stuff. We even got to see Moose, Bald Eagles and a lot of other birds. There is a volley ball court, a small soccer field, hammocks to chill, fireplace to warm, The Sun, river....something for everyone in the family to do, enjoy, relax and unwind. Our kids had a blast. Thank you so very much Nelson family. It was a memorable few days for us and given a chance would redo it over and over again. If you are traveling to Alaska, The Kenai Riverfront Resort is a must experience.
Location, location, location. This RV resort is truly one of a kind. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in late July of 2017. It has been one of the best parts of our entire trip from Texas to Alaska. If you like to salmon fish, stay here. If you dont know how to fish, but you want to fish for salmon, definitely stay here. If you want a family atmosphere, stay here. If you like privacy and solitude, stay here. Hint hint. Stay here!Jim and his two boys, TJ and CJ, spent so much time with each guest, as they requested it. Some people needed help learning how to fish for salmon, how to clean fish, how to unsnag a hook, and so much more. You are not just renting an RV spot. This is a destination. The price is about $100 per night, but you are getting prime real estate on the famous Kenai River for salmon fishing. That, alone, is worth so much. We saw so many people standing in waders in the cold water, and this resort has 12 spots on the side of the bank, so you dont even get wet. They have electricity, and they allow you to fill up your tanks with water, but there is no septic and no water hook up. It doesnt seem to bother anybody, and it definitely did not bother us. We could dump at our next spot down the road, or even in Soldotna, which is just five minutes away and free.Jim even hooked us up with a guide on a king salmon fishing boat trip. That, too, was a blast. Jim knows so many people in the area, and they have so much knowledge about fishing, side trips, and all kinds of tourist destinations. Our greatest compliment would be to Jims boys. Theyre so kind, helpful, patient, enthusiastic and just plain cool to be around. They rent and sell fishing tackle, snacks, fileting services, and more. What they give freely is their hearts. They have such a love for what they do and it shows. We will come back as soon as we can. This was an unbelievable stay, and we have an rv freezer full of salmon to prove it!
This place was absolutely amazing! My family and I have RVd all over Alaska and this one of our favorite places to go. As for the amenities, the resort has electric only. Water is provided to fill up your tanks, and there is a dump station about 5 minutes away. There is WiFi and its pretty good regardless of which site you get. The owners also does an amazing job of keeping the bathroom clean. There is a double head shower and even a sauna! Which you will get a class on upon your arrival. But, this place is not just an RV park it offers so much more. Jim, Cindy, and their two boys are a great bunch of people and amazing fisherman. They will teach you everything from where to fish, how to fish, hiw to filet your fish, and even give you recipes to cook it with their assistance the entire time. I now know more than I ever did about salmon fishing and cooking. Absolutely love love love this place its perfect for families, with a huge fire pit and free wood, volleyball net, and horse shoe pit. This is a must if you are trying to fish in the soldatna area.
Great outdoor seating overlooking the Kenai River
Best Vacation EVER!!I was put in charge of planning my family’s RV trip through the Kenai Peninsula and thanks to the Kenai Riverfront Resort and its amazing owners, I did a fantastic job! :-) The resort was absolutely wonderful and even after reading all their great reviews, it STILL exceeded my expectations. The Kenai River was just a few steps from our RV with the salmon swimming right along the shore. It’s a gorgeous area with tall mature trees for shade and comes with plenty of amenities, not to mention a grocery store nearby. This place is amazing on its own but what truly made it magical was the family who ran it. Jim, Cindy and their two boys, CJ and TJ, really made this place feel like home. They gave us a full tour when we arrived and gave my mother and I some fishing lessons. TJ and CJ run the tackle shop where they make handmade flies that I’m pretty sure sealed the deal on the fish my mom and I caught. They taught us how to fillet and butterfly the salmon and even came by with spices and tips on how to cook it over the fire. It was without a doubt, the best salmon any of us have ever had. Jim and his family went above and beyond for us and we feel we have made lifelong friends. We already miss the dips in the river, music around the fire, their kindness and we cannot wait to come visit again. If you are unsure if this is where you want to be, please take my advice- you do not want to miss the opportunity to stay here!-Rachel
What an amazing place!
