Very small local museum located inside the old tiny prison. The guide lady is very nice and knowledgeable. Dont forget to check out the second floor which houses some really neat Mardi gras costumes and stuff. Free admission but please donate some money

As a Slidell, LA native I visited this place a few times and I always found it nice way to kill some time and learn some history of my hometown. The guides are local, knowledgeable, and friendly. As you walk through the museum you can find Civil War artifacts, period clothing as well as Mardi Gras costumes over the yrs, and tons of fact about Slidell. Its amazing to see how much it has grown since the days of the original Railroad camp. Most, if not all, of the exhibits have been donated by locals or people who have found the relics around town. If you visit Slidell, you NEED to visit our little museum.

The docent Susan is very knowledgeable about slidell history.

This place was full of history until they took down anything having to do with the confederate flag or confederate war. It was very interesting and now its Mardi Gras stuff and not as much history.

Neat little piece of history.

It said on website it was open Saturday we drove from Kenner and they were closed. I called and the recording said they were open. There was no way to leave a message or nothing. We were extremely disappointed.
