Kaldis Social House

Kaldis is a really special coffee spot in Silver Spring. Great baristas, brews, and atmosphere. It is the perfect spot to contemplate, share a story, or to just get some work done out of the office. Also they have a full bar as well for those not pensive evenings. Starbucks is no match for these guys.

This is such a nice spot. Stopped by as a location for a meeting. Stayed for the ambiance and food . Its has two floors with ample seating. Food is well priced and the portions are even better. They have free WiFi and dont rush you to leave once you are done eating. Next visit to silver spring I will be back .

I don’t think I can type enough of how much I have enjoyed this place! I am still sitting in the restaurant and I had to jump on to say how amazing this place is! From the water to the food to the smoothies to the service! We stumbled upon this place and I’m so glad I did! The breakfast is my favorite. I got the Bravo Avo with salmon and two poached eggs. There are good vegan options here too! A win all around!

This is an awesome coffee bar with amazing barista! The coffee is so well crafted, and the tiramisu cake surprises me as well with its perfect alcohol tastes in it. Wonderful vibe, spacious seats and friendly staff. Will definitely come back again and try more its food!

Kaldi’s has my favorite breakfast of all time. The spinach Florentine waffle is so decadent and delicious, I would eat it every day if I could. They’ve recently renovated since I was last there and there is more table space, which I love. Only recommendation is don’t get he hot cinnamon tea. It does taste a bit like Fireball. Ha! Everything else is top notch.

My favorite spot in all of Silver Spring!! I love their Dirty Chai and cheesecake! Best place to post up and study/work/mingle pre COVID. The space is so modern and inviting, LOVE Kaldis!!!

Kaldis Social House is an immigrant-owned coffee house in downtown Silver Spring. True to the owners roots, they take the Ethiopian approach of coffee building community. In addition to great coffee and pastries (order their coffee cake), theres plenty of seating for groups and they often host events here for the community.

Coffee is good and inexpensive. No seating inside at the moment.

Worst costumer services. The hot caramel macchiato I order came up just warm milk and caramel

Pretty good food and enjoyable atmosphere. The cafe has a very lax attitude, order your food, find a spot to sit, whether it’s a couch, a table, or at the bar. The waiters bring your order out when it’s ready. I grabbed brunch here during the day, and liked the sandwich and waffles we ordered. The sandwiches (we got the turkey avocado club) left my taste buds wanting a little more, but were good nonetheless. The cashier lady wasn’t to enthusiastic about recommending food, and was unable to serve us a virgin bloody marry. If I’m in the area, I will probably go back and check them out again.

Always a hit. The food is simple but thought out and the coffee is great. Definitely one of my favorite spots to have lunch, have a coffee or tea, or do some work.I could write a second review about the nightlife side but I’ll be brief. I’ve had many awesome nights with hookah and dancing at Kaldis. Just gotta see what the vibe is going to be on a particular night because they have different music depending on the day.Overall, Kaldis has become a staple in the community and o recommend you check them out!

There is a special place in my heart for Kaldis. My wife and I met here on our first date in 2016. We wound up moving into the neighborhood in 2018, and we were able to go here more often.The coffee is fantastic, the sandwiches are full and delicious, and the pastries (especially the pumpkin, banana, and zucchini breads) are moist and delectable.Plus, if you have some work to get done, there is plenty of space to do that also.

Kaldis has unquestionably the best coffee in downtown Silver Spring. Its a great place for just about anything: getting work done on a laptop, reading a book, or meeting up with friends to have chat. Theres plenty of room and they dont play music obnoxiously loud like other coffee shops. My favorite thing to do there is just to sit at the U-shaped bar in the middle of the space and people-watch.

I really like the atmosphere at this cafe! But the only thing that out matches that is the food! I ordered a turkey sammie while the person I was with order the sliders. Each was delicious in it own right and my latte was also the bomb! Hope to come back soon!

Food is good and coffee is excellent. Ambience is great especially for those who wants some peace to work on their laptop. Staff is friendly. The challenging part to be here could be parking. Not many parking spots available nearby.

This is a local coffee spot that I like to visit for their cafe americano and breakfast menu, lunch is decent. The atmosphere here is chilled and this is a good to read a book, work on the computer, or have a conversation. The chairs away from the bar are comfortable if one just wants to lean back and talk. However, ergonomically their depth and height make it difficult to eat or finish writing that novel (Faster Than The Speed of Love) on the laptop since one has to lean forward to meet the table. I find myself shifting around lot or waiting for a bar seat to open up.

Cant eat inside right now because of the covid19 policy but they have 3 tables outside that are nice for sunny days. We opted to eat somewhere else because they were serving the full menu yet

This place is always so packed because the food is so good!

Since the pandemic, they are open for take out until 2 pm. You cant sit inside but theres a small outside sitting area...you may get lucky. Wifi rarely works though

Cute place for meeting with friends. Enjoying a moment alone, or using computer. Comfy chairs you might never want to leave. Food is avsilable, dont miss your heart foam cappuccino. Didnt get a chance but guess there is a roof top area too!

This place is packed because the their drinks are wonderful. The seating is packed so you might have to wait for a place to sit.

They make really good coffees and pastries. I personally prefer their blood orange ice tea, see picture. Their service is hit or miss if it’s a busy day it can take a while as the line can be long. If the line isn’t too long it’s pretty fast.

Cool vibes.. chill place to meet and chill. I didnt have any coffee; but it smelled nice. Would love be to see what the second floor looks like. Since Im vegan I had a breakfast sandwich which was decent. Worth a visit.

This place is very chill. Theres seating outside on good days of course. Nice place to study or work on projects. Loved the way the coffee comes in cute mugs. Upstairs has hookah which is pretty expensive as hookah always is. The vibe upstairs is different from downstairs. It all depends on what you are coming in for.

I like the vibes and the milk froth aspect, but twice now the coffee has been burned. Burned, really burned, worse than Starbucks burned. They need to train baristas more.

A hip, industrial coffee shop with bar and hookah upstairs. A great place to say for a few hours working or chatting with a friend. And dont let me forget the coffee! So good. Love this place

Really large open bar set up with lounge seating threw us off, as we were looking for a restaurant. Got a London Fog tea (hot, milk+Harney&Sons Earl Grey), rice bowl and chicken& waffles. All were awesomely tasty/scumptuous! Place really filled up shortly after 9AM on a SAT. Free weekend parking at the nearby Fenton garage. Scrambled eggs with the chicken & waffles was really savory and creamy/buttery! rice bowl eggs were medium side up, perfect for the dish, not too runny. A lot of different textures in this rice bowl: crispy brisket, medium dense narrow rice, tangy plump tomatoes, silky soft greens/chimichurri). Silver Springs eats has come a long way since we moved away 7 yrs ago!

Both mocha and decaf latte were delicious as were the bread pudding and waffles. Great atmosphere and good food/drinks. Perfect

Fantastic food and coffee with awesome vibe. The latte may be the best Ive ever had. The only downside - it is so popular on weekends they need to set up for a second customer service line. Not only would it be better for customers, it would obviously ramp up sales as well.

Kaldiss is great. I dont drink much coffee so I cant comment on their coffee but I do enjoy their selection of teas. Mango black tea is my favorite. Its one of my go to study spots. Its usually pretty busy, but great atmosphere. Its especially nice when the weather is nice and they open the sliding glass to open up the space. Theyve recently renovated the place and have added a ton of comfortable seating. Finding an open seat shouldnt be an issue. Also you have to try their coffee cake or cheese cake, both are excellent!Edit: Theyve added some new breakfast and lunch items. The Big Fat Daddy was really good, and big enough you could probably split it between two people.

Omg it is so delish. I ordered the fat daddy if you love cheese did u would love this dish. My daughter got the chicken and waffles she loved it very tasty. My husband had the salmon sandwich it was very well put together it was all great. Coffee is amazing!

The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on the sourdough bread was perfection. Cappuccino was delicious as well! Will visit again.

After the latest renovation I thought it would be cool. Not. After 10 am on weekends it’s completely full/crowded and there does not appear to be anyone assigned to clean the floor and tables. The food is good, but I see the place before I order and most times I just get out of line and go elsewhere.

Great place to get some work done. The baristas seem a bit distracted and less personable than I would have expected from a local shop but, all in all, it was a positive experience and I would definitely go back.

Quiet in the AM but becomes a jumpin place in the evening. Great place to experience SSs huge diversity. Say Hi to owner and self-made man Tsega when he stops in.

As others have mentioned, solid coffee and nice ambiance. Taking a class for the week and enjoyed the diversity of people and selection offerings. Knocked a star b/c breakfast sandwich lacked seasoning, but was still okay. I came during the day two separate times and would love to experience the afternoon/evening vibe. Delicious tiramisu

Abs love kaldi’s! It’s my go to spot for days I need to telework. They have various seating areas and is always crowded throughout the day. If you’re there in the morning I’d recommend ordering the chicken Florentine waffles. Their caprese avo toast is excellent as well!Do your neighborhood small business a favor and don’t spend your entire day there and only order a cup of coffee! Order some food so small businesses like this could continue stay open.I had to come back and add on to my previous comment. I recently went to Starbucks after a long time and did not realize how awful their coffee is! Guess I’ve gotten spoiled by the coffee at Kaldi’s.

Easily one of the best coffee houses I’ve been to, ever. The seating is plentiful and comfortable, the coffee is fantastic, and the staff are super friendly. I wish I lived closer because I’d be here every day.

First time here and it was an epic experience. An amazing place to get a cup of coffee. The staff here are friendly and awesome def made the experience memorable. They have keylime pie! Dessert for LOVE!!

Really good place for quality coffee and espresso, probably your best option in silver spring MD. I have been at least 10 times, and the quality is consistently good. If you can, try to visit in the afternoon - the barista dude who generally works afternoons is fantastic at pulling shots. Plenty of seating options, including the bar/counter, couches, tables and spots near the windows. The mens bathroom is generally quite clean.

Good atmosphere good coffee and options. Could be crowded at times and you may need to wait in line but it comes with the atmosphere.

The coffee is great, atmosphere and employees are also very welcoming. Not a fan of the tiramisu though, not much espresso taste, has overpowering mascarpone. Prices are reasonable as well.

Just off Georgia Avenue in downtown Silver Spring. Parking garage across the street. Friendly staff. Beautiful food and beverages. Great social space. Very enjoyable.

The people behind the counter should be working at McDonalds taking orders from number 1-10. Theyre unable to take their time to explain the menu. BLT is supposed to be a sandwich not a salad. The Latte is just premix with lots of sugar. Nothing special here. Just another over price joint

They serve the best coffee in the area. Specially the Almond lattebnb is the best.

Kaldi is an great place to catch up with a friend over coffee/tea, get some work done, or grab breakfast with family. Ive probably been here a dozen times or more. Weve never tried them at night, but it looks like they turn into more of a bar/lounge then. Staff are friendly and awesome. It feels really communal and comfortable.

This is what a coffee house should be. Lots of tables and seating for working and social hang outs. I’ve had a couple of the menu items and they were delicious (the French toast is a favorite). Really good espresso drinks. All in all, this is a great space with an awesome vibe and food. Highly recommend.Update: this has become our go to spot and we’ve tried most of the menu items. The food here is great! We have not been disappointed at all. Highlights a cross the menu.

This place has very good food and coffee. However its almost always packed and the food can be very expensive. I also heard recently theyre raising their prices. With this in mind, great atmosphere and place to get together.

Never been to this establishment. However, my account was charged 3 different times yesterday to the tune of $800.00. I tried calling the phone number listed here and it is disconnected. I of course did a fraud alert and will be getting my funds back. These charges were run through your square d reader that you have onsite. My question is why $800.00 of charges were not questioned at a coffee shop???Reply to your update,I appreciate you looking into this and getting it addressed on your end. As the chip reader was not used my understanding is you will be held accountable for the money. This is very unfortunate for you. I would suggest using this as a training tool for your team. I am also very confused as to why someone would run a card three times in a row for these amounts unless they were involved. I don’t know what your average ticket is but I would think the amounts run are not typical for you.I have also attached a picture of the charges if this helps in anyway.

Great atmosphere, lots of comfy seating, little outdoor patio, and dog-friendly. Perfect local coffeeshop, not to mention the great food and drinks. Highly recommend the lattés .

The place was good i was there to work on my laptop with internets help but had to leave as the internet was too slow. They need to work on it. The place seems to be deteriorating. Loved the seating it was cozy its a shame i had to take out 2 stars because of the slow internet. The coffee maker was a joyous and the staff looked positive.

I was impressed by this place. It offers the true definition of Social House. Great latte for sure. For those of you that want more than coffee and breakfast, the rooftop offers a great bar. Funny enough (but great concept), the roof top has a clear roof that can be opened or closed as needed depending on the weather. Beer in iced bucket in a hot summer day is certainly recommended.

Great place to get work done.. Very quiet before 10am. Most coffees are exceptional and meals as well. Parking may be a bit of an issue because of street parking. Overall very nice.

Great ambience to go with delicious coffee and pastries. The coffee cake was to die forI came here for breakfast with a friend and ended up staying to work on my laptop for a while. Another plus: the coffee and food are reasonably priced for the area. Next time Ill get the waffles everyone around me was enjoying.

My boyfriend and I frequent Kaldi’s for brunch whenever we can. I love the Vegan Italian Toast or the Veggie Morning and he consistently orders the Big Fat Daddy. Coffee or hot chocolate is a must for us, which are always delicious. Service is pretty quick and we always enjoy the vibe. It’s a delightfully diverse community of folks you find at Kaldi’s. However, it is rare to see a barista/server outside of the bar/cashier area so I tend to feel disconnected from them aside from ordering and receiving my food. It does get busy and folks like to chill (as is the intent of Kaldi’s) so you may or may not be able to nab seats. I suggest going with a pal - one to order, one to grab a table. And get friendly! Don’t be afraid to ask someone at a larger table or taking up a few big armchairs if you can share some space.One thing that is off-putting are the bathrooms- they’re cold, metallic, and if I don’t gently close the stall door to lock it, it slams and startles me. Odd, I know. But I felt like I needed to mention it.

Got here during happy hour and we were asked to move because “someone bought our table” never been to a place that kicks you out because happy hour is over. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE! It’s a piece of s**t. Service sucks. Music is horrible. Servers are RUDE.

Delicious food with a variety of options to choose from. This is the type of place you could have a nice gathering with friends or get some work or reading done. I am a fan of the different seating options as well.

Too crowded and they just raised prices. Its very difficult to find seating here. This used to be a great place, but has failed to re-invent to stay fine-tune with the changing neighborhood.

One of my favorite places. Greaaaaat food. All of the servers are nice, the deserts look and taste fantastic (I keep thinking about that pound cake) and at first Id only had the chicken & waffles (which while not the real deal its still good & I get it every time I can) I tried a cheeseburger and fries and was very satisfied. The atmosphere is great. It can get crowded being so popular but the seats are comfy with nice sized tables to either socialize or work, it has nice cozy corners (one with a fireplace) and a big counter to work at too. So many people I know have never been so I suggest it to everybody.

Loved when it was just a coffee shop and now that it has grown into a bar its okay but I like when I had a late night coffee shop to just get stuff done. The food and drinks are great though.
