12/10! This is my favorite place to go when I want to get away from everything and just relax. The rooms are private, quiet, and have everything you need. The scenery is breathtaking and the surrounding property is full of beautiful private trails. The animals (horses, cows, dogs, chickens) on the property are so sweet and pleasant and the staff has so many cool stories and information/recommendations to share about the area. If you give them 24 hours notice, they will cook dinner for you, which I highly suggest doing as the food is incredible!Thank you so much Jeff, Linda, and everyone else who makes Bear Mountain Lodge such a wonderful piece of paradise!

This lodge is a jewel in the beautiful SW New Mexico desert. Came here for a short road trip from Phoenix, and wow. We got a room in the main lodge and had our own patio to hang out on under the desert sky. We relaxed outside with a pretty gnarly tarantula named Ozzy, who mostly ignored us as he crawled along the outer wall and ceiling of the porch hunting bugs that were interested in our porch light. We ate breakfast outside on the porch adjacent to the kitchen and watched dozens of hummingbirds playing quiddich while attempting to drink from one of the many hummingbird feeders hung nearby, totally mesmerizing. We plan to return and hope that we do not have another cloudy night, I bet the stars are amazing this far away from a big city. The guy who checked me out was super nice and made my wife and I feel welcomed, everyone wore masks in common places and was really clean.

This was our first visit to Silver City and as we were driving through town toward the Bear Mountain Lodge, we were a little worried about what we would find due to the town itself being a little run down. Once we arrived at the lodge, we were immediately impressed. It is such a charming place to stay and is tucked in to a remote location with beautiful scenery, great hiking trails and is very quiet and tranquil. We stayed in the Gila room which is on the bottom floor of the main house. The room was very nicely decorated with a huge bathroom and was incredibly clean. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the entire place had a very homey feeling. The food was excellent and there was always a variety of tea and cookies available throughout the day. We would definitely stay here again when we return to the area.

The lodge had the best staff I’ve ever encountered. Very sweet and attentive. The hikes were beautiful and my dogs enjoyed it just as much as I did. The room was warm and cozy at night. Very quiet and peaceful just what we wanted. The breakfast was delicious. We will be back again !

The lodge has an interesting history as it began as a school for rich boys with problems from the east coast. For a time it was a property owned by The Nature Conservancy. The lodge sits on 178 acres a few miles outside of Silver City, New Mexico. The lodge is .well maintained, the rooms are lovely and comfortable, the food is fabulous and the staff very personable It is a great destination in a relaxing environment.. .

Thank you Jeff for making my stay welcoming, comforting and a total, complete pleasure. I will come back for there is so much to see and do in the area. And Bear Mountain Lodge is just the base to use for all those day trips! The history of the lodge and area is so vast and various - no one can learn it all but the bit i learned during my visit was incredible. Best to all at the Lodge

With a history buff husband, we followed Billy the Kid to Lincoln, Fort Sumner and Silver city. I’m super happy that we found bear mountain lodge as our stop silver city. This lodge is full of history and beautiful art works from owners and local artists. The lodge is super clean with exceptional quality of everything that you need. Did I mention that our dinner at the lodge is also so good which comfort our stomach and our souls. We were lucky to talk to owners who are such wonderful people. So thankful that they decided to get this place with history and maintained it so well. We already decided that we will come back for another retreat to recharge. Highly recommend to anyone who wishes to have a chance to seek nature, soul search or recharge from daily stress to stay at this lodge. You will feel different after your stay.

I had a magical time at my moms wedding here. My sister, aunts, and my mom and her grooms family and friends stayed in the lodge during the ceremony. The weather was gorgeous, the many employees were attentive and polite, and the lodge has such a charming, homey feel, even though its covered head to toe in some truly astonishing art. Surrounding the lodge are gorgeous hills covered in alligator junipers and other varieties of evergreens, and dusty red soil that is a lot of fun to walk on. My parents brought their dogs to the wedding and they had a blast taking a bath in the creek, eating horse manure and chomping down the compost pile before the ceremony. The air here is clean but very dry. Thank you Bear Mountain Lodge for a wonderful experience.

What a treat to stay here. It is one of my new favorite retreats on the planet. Every little detail in the Bear Mountain Lodge is executed with good taste and beauty. I am looking forward to my next visit already! An excellent choice if you want peace and quiet, to be surrounded by nature and beautiful artwork, and to be served delicious food by a friendly and interesting staff.

I have been a customer of the restaurant (open for holiday meals, serving pricey but decent food) and also had visiting family stay there upon my recommendation. Lovely facilities, but in my opinion/based on a recent interaction, the lodge is encumbered by deeply hostile customer service practices. The owner is a private person who does not enjoy sharing [her] property with members of the public (her words)...Was recently hiking on the lodge-adjacent trails, leaving by dusk (which was the posted time for non-guests to offload). She came out onto the trail to inform me, in the most withering, imperious, disdainful tones she could muster, that members of the public were to leave by six and that I was not welcome to be there. Her demeanor was unaccountably, shockingly hateful from the start... I responded that I was sorry and indeed already leaving, but that this information did not match her posted guidelines for public use. And then... she simply banned me from the premises. The lodge is a venerable old place, with gorgeous surrounds and tasteful old west style. But these offerings were in place long before the current owners, and sans the veneer of hostility. A most unfortunate experience at an establishment of supposed hospitality.

This is our go to place for Sunday brunch and special occasions like Christmas and Thanksgiving. The staff is extra friendly and the food is always very good. They always offer a vegetarian dish and this carnivore has grown to love some of them: the eggplant parmigiana is fabulous. Last week I had the duck confit and it was the most tender I’ve ever had in my almost 80 years. Since we live in town we never stay here but the rooms I’ve seen are first class and the lodge and grounds are beautiful. I’ve also made purchases in the art displayed throughout the lodge. They are also pet friendly in the cabin and annex rooms.

We chose the Bear Mountain Lodge for a long family weekend and stayed in the Wrens Nest. We LOVED it! the lodge was a lovely, quiet retreat featuring interesting art, interesting grounds to explore and great views. Everyone was so welcoming and nice. Jeff offered great suggestions for things to do and places to eat. And the breakfasts each morning served on the patio were delicious. We also appreciated the COVID safety measures the staff took to make sure guests felt comfortable. Silver City is a fun, funky little town to explore and theres plenty to do in the vicinity. Well definitely be back.

The location is just beautiful. Our room was great - clean and comfy. Be aware - no television. the only negative is that we were offered dinner, but we had no idea of the price. We were blindsided by the expensive price - the dinner was nice but not $35 each kind of nice.
