I love my Y family. It’s unfortunate that I have to leave this review, but the run around I’m receiving to cancel and reclaim my paid dues during the pandemic is a bit unreal.I understand the lengthy wait times, but it’s the non-transparent process, where one misstep has members back at the beginning of a new process to complete cancellation/refund requests. It’s too much.

Ive been a member for almost a year now. Overall, this facility is kept clean and has a good selection of equipment that is generally in good condition. I typically go for free weights which I think YMCA should have more of. I have two main issues. First, why did the building designers make it so you can see in the mens locker room from the hallway and courts where women and children are. Second, for being so diverse and open, why do they lock so many rooms during normal operating hours? They dont seem to trust their members.

I really wanted to love this facility, but after years of on and off membership, its become obvious this place just isnt a good fit for our family. For one, membership is very expensive. For 2 adults and 1 child, its close to $150/month, which we were willing to pay for the nice, clean pool, childcare, and fitness equipment. However, because of the number of classes this facility provides, access to the pool is VERY limited. My daughter and I only have a small amount of time during the week when we can come here to swim, but unfortunately, the pool is reserved for classes during those times. I understand that folks who sign up for classes deserve their time in the pool as well, but holy moly, the open/rec swim times are so narrow, it was clear to us that we would never be able to use the pool here at all. Not only that, child care at this location is limited during the school year, so we began coming earlier so that my daughter could play while I went for a 30 minute jog, then go to the pool, but, you guessed it -- the pools closed until 1 pm. Basically. we would have to plan our entire day to take advantage of the narrow window when child care is available right before the pool opens for rec swim, and that didnt sit right with us. The classes are a source of income for this center, so I doubt things are going to change any time soon, but maybe one day, that nice pool will become more accessible to members of the community, especially if theyre paying a whole lot of money to use it.

I love this place in the early morning. It’s clean, lots of towels, great front desk and pool staff. In the afternoon it’s really loud and crowded. Staff is not as experienced. I’ve been a member since they opened.

JULIA, I don’t know why She needs a phone number if it’s unreachable all the time and not responding to the voice mail. There are at least 2-3 people on front desk and Julia the so called supervisor but nobody resolve the issue. When they cancel the swimming lesson or change the schedule they never informed me. When I asked them everyone gave different information, not consistent info. They do not know what to do. And the manager (Julia) attitude very disappointing. Why they have an email and phone number if they do not communicate with that. Specially, Julia she is not helpful and want to listen. She has really bad ego. Very disappointed. This location it had nice service before 3 yrs. Now it get terrible.

I have been going here for years and recently went to the Puyallup Y and realized how lacking this gym is, the pool here is usually cold, at Puyallup it was like bathwater everyday, the staff and I mean all of the staff was so friendly in Puyallup, way better instructors, you can’t compare the two Y’s, Puyallup made me realize just how lacking Dale Turner is!

Fully prepared to come here, a woman at the front desk teased me that I must bring a certificate to enter, my friend has a membership card here the previous several times can enter. It took me half an hour to get a taxi home to get my id but I didnt need it when I arrived. Its sooooo disappointing:(

Very unprofessional staff! Theyre constant liars, and theyre rude! All the staff members from the names of Keith, Gabe, Patrick Carr, Cindy Douglas, and Brandon Washington are unprofessional staff. Theyve all said, well call you back, and they never do! Also, the Cindy Douglas many times approached me inappropriately saying, ughh didnt I just talk to you! In a rude way. With that said, I dont recommend anyone going here, dont matter if its to become a member or to even apply for a position, (regardless if its a volunteer or paid position). If they dont treat their customers right, then what makes you think they treat the staff well?!

Great gym but parking is HORRENDOUS. Love the classes and people seem to be nice but good luck getting a parking spot. For such a big gym to have such few spots I have no idea how they keep members. I bet there is a heavy turn over rate. I can’t see anyone putting up with the parking situation for very long. super disappointed

BEWARE:There is a dishonest person (A THIEF) among our family at Dale Turner YMCA ...On Thursday, November 1st, 2018, close to 8:00 pm, I lost my wallet in Dale Turner YMCA. The person who found and stole my wallet, did not waste any time and started using my credit card twice in two different gas stations; one at 8:16 pm at 76 gas station in Northgate Way for the amount of $66.55 and the second time tried and failed at Chevron in Northgate Way (cross from the 76). Luckily, the cameras at both gas stations were active.Hopefully, with police help coupled with the gas station owner, we can identify the thief. Once I know who the person is, I will inform Dale Turner YMCA staff and its members via Google review as well as other online mediums with pictures, if available. Also, if anyone has any knowledge on this particular theft, please let the staff know at the front desk. Together, we can find the THIEF …

I do like the YMCA because my daughter seems to enjoy the adventure zone. And I do like the treadmill. But, Ive seen better. Ten years ago in a smaller facility in Modesto California had better equipment, and the staff was much more friendly and available. The swim area has its issues as well. Too many kids in the kiddy pool area doing cannonballs so close to the edge were my 4 year old is trying to hang on for dear life. The work out machines are supposed to be wiped down after each use by the person that used it last, however, you are lucky if you can find paper towels to use to do what we are suppose to do. I dont want to stop going, I just wish some things were improved.

Do not come for the pool. Worst pool in the area. Its small and shallow and the lifeguards are rude. They have ridiculous rules that make it completely unreasonable and not fun for kids or parents. Even though its only 5 ft at the deepest you must be in arms length of your child at all times. What if you have.more than 1? There is also a water slide which is never ever open and is a perpetual dissapointment to kids. As a 7 year member I have complained about how we have been treated 3 times. Work out room is ok. But almost all activities cost extra and all public pools in the area are better for families.

This Y, while great for kids, parents might have a lot more in clothing bills! My son lost his jacket, well let me explain. While partaking in the late night, function there he picked up a jacket exactly like his just smaller. I contacted them just to find under some C.Y.A. policy they could not call the homes listed on a sign-in because they didnt want to give off the wrong impression to other patrons is what I was told. Easy, cheap fix not even tried this place is dangerous to your wallet as a parent.

Some times when we both swim and I want to got to the gym my daughter can go to the tween room or the adventure zone. But if you bring a baby while your exercising you can leave him/her at this room for babys.

I love the pool; the womens locker rooms are clean and well-maintained. I love it!

Its a beautiful facility, and today was my first visit. I was excited to have found a place that had a pool, however with only 3 lap lanes i waited for about 25 minutes for a lane to free up before asking another gal if i could swim with her. before i knew it, there were 4 ladies total including myself that were now sharing this single lane while the other two lanes were occupied by only one male each. A lady in the lane with me seemed upset and asked if she could join the lane next to us, and he was kind to let her. One of the ladies i was sharing the lane with that joined it after I was interested in walking slowly through the lane and back. She was really upset with me when i passed her, becuase afterall; these are lap lanes and i came to workout. Half the pool is dedicated to family swim. water aerobics and the like. I wish there were more lanes for lap swimming, because i wasnt expecting this and it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. The childcare facilities are amazing, and all three of my kids 7m-4y enjoyed playing there.

For future memebers that want to join ask to get your memebership fee waived. Because my roomate did. He told me he got his membership fee waived today. I paid my membership fee to start here just like everyone else and he doesnt even get to pay it. Well for all you wanting to join ask for the membership fee to be waived because they seem to be giving it out for free.
