I love this theater, great popcorn (free refills on the large, and real butter) and candy options. Also great prices. Its super cool you can get beer too! They always have cool movies to choose from. I feel like Ive seen a lot of great films I otherwise would not have paid full theater ticket prices to see.
Great place to watch movies with your kids. I love that you can watch for just $4 per person. For parents with small kids who are just starting to appreciate keeping still to see a film from start to finish, or even older ones who dont care about flashy or posh theater environment just as long as theres popcorn, candy and drinks, Crest is THE theater to go to.Parking is limited. The theater maybe old but its not grimy or musty. The staff are young, fast and friendly. They serve theater food, my toddler loved the popcorn and that it came in a dino print box (kids combo).Im so glad to have this institution around and hope they will keep operating as long as possible. Watch your movies here, highly recommended.
Love this place! Best popcorn of any movie theater! Come one, come all!!!!!!
I cant sat enough about how much I love the Crest! But in a couple words real butter!
Take a step back in time to the golden age of movie theaters. Charming and classic decor and old school prices. While they dont get first run movies its a great spot to see anything you missed the first time around tickets are only $4 for adults and concessions are reasonably priced as well. Being able to go see a movie and have some snacks for under $20 is relatively unheard of these days. Across the street from Ridgecrest Public House a great spot for a pint before or after the movie.
I love coming here for second runs of my favorite movie releases. They usually show movies that were in major movie theaters 2 to 4 months ago.It costs $4 for a regular movie and I believe $5 for 3D movies. It’s a good place to take kids to, because if they get bored it won’t be that big on an issue to get up and leave.Concessions are expensive, we always eat dinner before going to movies because I refuse to pay $8 for popcorn or $4 for bag of candy that the 7 Eleven across the street sells for half less. That being said, $4 movie is a great price if you live nearby. I come ever month or so.Some of the theatre rooms have been updated with newer seats, so it’s comfortable enough.Ladies bathroom upstairs was pink last time I checked, and the one on main floor could use updating also. But i guess that just adds the character of the place.Parking can take a minute or two if visiting during popular times of a day or weekends, so give yourself enough time. Free street parking and some dedicated theatre parking can fill fast.
These are what my grandma used to call Cheapie Theatres and affordable they still are. I cant remember ever paying $4 a ticket, and thats exactly what they charge here! The vibe is really different from your big chain theatres in the best way possible. Kitsch to the max. I loved it!The screens are a little smaller, but the seating is still great. No matter how tall the folks in front of you are theres no issues seeing -i know bc the people in front of my 10 yr old and I were well over 6 ft. Another great thing about this place is they have older movies. Not super old, but if you missed it in the bigger cinemas this place is probably still showing it. We saw a movie that came out at Xmas in late March. They offer concessions and the candy is still overpriced - wouldnt be the movies if it werent! But we bring our own, and popcorn & drinks are totally reasonable and also refillable at any time for free. They have per pound candy dispensers filled with boutique candies, and they also have a seasoning bar for your popcorn with all sorts of powdered flavors. Kettle corn, caramel, cheddar, ranch, etc.The mens restroom is on the main floor and marked, and the ladies room is upstairs and unmarked, both LGBTQ friendly. They do have a small parking lot but it was full and I gather most people park on side streets in the surrounding neighborhood like we did. All free! Just be careful not to block corners or driveways. Ill definitely return.
The Crest is the best place to watch movies that you didnt quite care to pay full price for at the bigger theaters. I just watched the live action Dora because why not? Its only 4 dollars. The staff is super nice and friendly and its mad cheap. They also put a TON of butter on your popcorn
Awesome experience overall. Seats were a little too close together from front to back. Great ticket prices. Its always nice to
Local theaters are an unfailing delight. The Crest is no exception. From the moment you walk in you can tell the theaters been around for a while, low ceilings, ticket sales right by the door, everything down to the even the paintjob. The workers at the Crest always seem happy to have you there, theres even an employee before the film that gives a wonderfully polite introduction for it.However... the seats are very very tight. The cushions are comfortable but after a multi-hour movie, it is a struggle to stand back up. Aside from that, the only complaint I could think to have is the film selection. The movie I saw came out five months ago and is only slightly more expensive on Amazon Prime. I would take that as a negative but it gives the opportunity to get a big screen experience for any movie you might have missed. I myself am catching up on the Best Picture nominees just in time for the Oscars. The Crest is a majestically quaint theater, snd at just $4 a ticket, I couldnt think of a theater to beat it.
I really like the old school feel to this theater. I feel like Im back in the 80s again which is the coolest area for me as a kid, I highly recommend this place. $4 for movie as a great deal.
Great local theater. My kids love this place and the bulk candy! I like that I can grab a beer while my kids gorge on candy and watch a good movie all at a decent price.
Inexpensive tickets. Good popcorn and a great selection of candy. I have never experienced a less than good time at The Crest.
Cheap movie ticket only $4 ! Comfy seats. Popcorn reasonably priced. Not sure if they get the latest movies. Is a fun experience.
The Crest serves up the best popcorn in Seattle. Also everyone that works there is so friendly. Its an old theater, but one I always like to visit, and the price is right!
This theater is located in a chill neighborhood so the drive is worth it if it’s out of your way—there is a nice brewery and a coffee shop next to it. Of course movies are $4 which is terrific, except they do not have many movies playing at once and seldom alternate them, so you’ll have to wait for a good one.
Great little neighborhood theater. Very cozy and very friendly service. The only thing is seating rows are too close to each other and my knees were pushing the front seat and my height is average.
The Crest is kind of a nostalgic classic for me I grew up relatively close to it and always love being able to go see a movie for relatively little money. Theyre not brand new releases but typically movies that have just come out of the mainstream theaters so if you missed it you always have a second chance to watch it on the big screen and not have to grab a DVD or stream it online
Great staff. Yummy popcorn sprinkle choices. Yummy popcorn even with no flavor. Casual atmosphere including bulk candy, if youre into sweets. Want to return for its nostalgia...
The famous Crest! Redone a few times into cozy mini theaters that are great for bringing your kids.
Where can you go for a movie that is cheaper than renting? Love the neighborhood atmosphere and friendly service. Dont forget the Ridgeway Pub across the street
I love this theater so much in so many ways. But I do have to say, that my last visit made me really sad. They are making some upgrades to the place, which is great! But the seats they chose, to be honest, are worse than what was in there. I had no room to move at all in these seats. My knees were up against the seat in front of me, the arm rest were squeezing into my hips, shoulders rubbing up on the person next to you. I had no room to move at all. It was borderline claustrophobic feeling. So, be warned if you are a bigger person in height or girth, you might have issues sitting here. It didnt use to be the case there. But if I go back, I will be forced to sit front row. Which sucks. Otherwise, its the only place in that area that offers a great value for movies.
My mom and I saw a film here last weekend. A small line out front but once inside I was pleasantly surprised with the cozy theater. Much larger screens than I anticipated. For $4 you cannot beat the movie ticket price. Snacks are your usual higher price but overall it was a wonderful experience. Would definitely support local business and see a show there again. Very charming theater.
We love this little theater. The staff are always super nice and they have THE BEST popcorn of any movie theater anywhere. Sometimes we even pop by just to get a bag to bring home- it’s that good. And at only $4 a seat it’s always a great cheap date night. They have beer and wine now and make your own mix candy by the pound. The Crest is a gem.
What a find! We heard about this place from a friend. Some would call it old and faded, but we loved the small classic feel. It is like going back in time and has a wonderful patina. It doesnt hurt that tickets are $4 at the weekend. Thoroughly recccomended.
When you can wait for a movie to go to DVD, and enjoy it in the comfort of your own home, as well as not pay $20 for popcorn, $4 is the right price. Its the only movie theater I go to unless theres a Godzilla movie that just came out.
I love this place! Cheap movies, real butter on their popcorn, and beer, wine, and cider. What more could you ask for??
Come on. Where can you find a better deal. I go to a ton of movies and its really great to support a local neighborhood movie house. Not fancy, but quaint and fun!!
What’s not to love? For less than $10 you can see a great selection of movies. On top of that you can buy well priced concessions that include the ability to buy bulk candy (all the Swedish fish you can handle!). Honestly, the Crest is old but it’s part of its charm. It’s a great place to see a movie and have a good time.
Great service amazing prices even the popcorn and drinks arent terribly priced!
Crest Cinema is great. It was my first time going mid-day during the summer and there was maybe 7 people there. The people were super nice and the bathroom was remarkably clean! Dont judge a book by its cover!
Really liked it here. Its a small cozy neighborhood type theater. The screen was much larger then I expected. We had an enjoyable time and expect to return. Popcorn was fresh and tasted great. Its well maintained and staff was friendly. Movie prices are fantastic!
Good prices. Older but still good theatre to see movies after the first run is done
Love this old theater!!! They now serve beer and wine. Staff is super friendly. Parking is extremely limited. So be prepared to have to park on a street and walk a few short blocks. You can park all along 165th AVE NE. Be mindful of the signs on the cross streets and blocking driveways. The residents are pretty mellow until someone parks in a no parking area. Cheers!
What a deal! 4 bucks for a movie and they have beer and good dark chocolate. I have longer legs and there is not a lot of legroom. Also can be tough to find parking. But I think worth it overall.
Very cozy and small theater that shows movies that are just out of conventional movie theaters. The prices are great, and the staff there are always inviting and friendly. Some of the rooms have a more narrow set up for seating, but it is never bad. This is definitely a great place to see a movie you missed in theaters or want to see again on the big screen! Would definitely recommend!
Physically, the Crest has seen better days, but its comfy, staff is friendly, and they show excellent films. And its only 4. for adult admission! Sole survivor of the Landmark chain in the Seattle area; there used to be 5 or 6.
Community type movie theater with 4 screens. Always good movies. Sunday afternoon cost only $4. Lots of treats to choose from. Crest is so much better (cost, convenience and selection of treats) than multiplex theater chains.
Cant beat the price. The screens and sound systems are reasonably good. I highly recommend the Crest.
Cool retro place makes you remember the original old school cinemas.
One of the last Landmark theaters left in town. :(Best popcorn in town since the Harvard Exit closed. They have remodeled over the last couple of years......seats are much better.$4.00 is so great for any film they play. The staff have always been friendly and whipsmart humour.
I love the Crest Theatre. Its low priced, but clean and has comfortable seating.
The very best theater in town. Their pricing for tickets is very reasonable, and they have a lot of really good food. The place is clean and I love taking people here. Thank you :)
Very good theater to get a second chance to watch feature films while staying within your neighborhood. Friendly staff.
We had fun. Watched Ford v Ferrari and JoJo Rabbit
Always a great movie-going experience! I hope this pace stands for 200 more years.
Nice big screen great price and nice people
You can see a movie for four bucks. If that was not enough for 5 stars, the staff here are invariably more pleasant and welcoming than the staff at any big megaplex. They seem like they are actually glad to be there.
You can’t beat a 4$ movie ticket. The theaters are always clean and staff a both friendly and helpful. I love the wide selection of movies, there are both popular films as second runs and first run foreign films with subtitles. The foreign films are some of my favorites for broadening my world view. I would highly recommend the popcorn! The butter is amazing and they will mix it through the middle and on top.
What can I say, I love a deal. A cinematic adventure for a fraction of the price. Never too crowded, so no background distractions. Candy by the pound, you choose what goes in your bag. You catch the movies between theater and DVD.
Movies are inexpensive but excellent quality. Same goes for concessions. The movies are a couple months behind release, but thats part of the appeal; if you want to see a movie again but dont want to spend $20 for a ticket and popcorn, the Crest is the place for you
The prices are low and the seats werent to bad either. Id definitely come back!!
We enjoy the Crest a lot. The prices are great and they usually have an interesting mix of films. Were especially grateful for their family/kids movies. Parking can sometimes be tricky so plan on arriving a little early in case you need to park down the street and walk a little bit.
Its important to understand the context within which I offer this review. This is a $4 Cinema folks, part of and sadly among the last of the Landmark art House theater presence in Seattle which was at its peak in the 90s. The Varsity Theater in the U district is the other. (SIFF, the Seattle International Film Festival organization acquired and runs two others, The Egyptian and Uptown.) Even with its second run status, a good amount of money has been spent putting new chairs and aisle lighting in. The films shown here are typically those no longer in full distribution yet not quite on streaming or video release. They also feature special viewings of concerts and other performances such as ballets.
Fabulous lively atmosphere, run by an enthusiastic crew ; showing late-run and soon to go to video movies on the big screen
Nice theater! Remodeled-new screen-new seats-great popcorn and drinks
The cheap ticket price is great, and the concessions are also good.
Great film theater at an affordable price. Excellent concessions, comfortable seats. Everyones chance to see films on the big screen.
Its nostalgic.. movie be prices are the best!
I love this place! Their tickets are about $4-$5 and the popcorn is amazing. I always came with my family since I was in middle school, and was always the best to go for date nights as a teen! I still go there for date nights.
Be patient for the film, and pay $4 for a good cinema experience. Feels like 1985.
The best! Super cheap and worth waiting for movies to get there! Great old theatre, very cozy, a real classic! I have been going there with my dad and the crest never fails to make us smile!
$4 tickets for a movie just before it goes to DVD. Nice neighborhood venue with 4 theaters. Parking can be difficult since its located in a residential area. Go to the last showing to avoid the crowds and parking shortage.
Very affordable cinema that runs movies near the end of their theatre life (before DVD release). Comfortable chairs with cup holders. Affordable snack bar & they now have beer!! What What What!!
I love this place! An employee came in to introduce the movie beforehand and that was incredible. It was an awesome personal touch and got everyone excited for the movie. Also, they have a great selection of movies that you cant find elsewhere.
This is a fantastic old throwback theater! They have modern seats, and even beer, however the real charm is the fact that they left it alone without a fancy remodel. Ticket prices are $4 for a feature film, and $5.50 for a 3D movie. So, very affordable, and very Charming! Highly recommend!!
A classic theater that offers reduced ticket prices. If you dont mind waiting to see a big movie then this is your place. They often will get all the biggest hits, just later then other theaters. But you can see them for only $4
Great little theater with the BEST concession stand! Popcorn and pop, of course, and classic candy in dispensers and high quality chocolate bars along with beer and wine, all for reasonable prices. (Especially compared to the big theaters.)The employees are nice andnthe theater is clean! What more could you ask for?
An incredibly cheap place to see unusual movies. Good popcorn
One of the best in Seattle. Great programming and decent prices on concessions. But the best are the $4 general admission tickets.
I attended Biggest Little Farm yesterday at the Crest. I have a severe hearing loss, so requested use of the Captiview. It was set up for me, but unfortunately was not working properly. I took it back to the desk, missing a few minutes of the movie, and staff worked hard to fix it, which he did, and brought it back to me in the theater. Because of the trouble, I was given a free movie pass. Thank you! I will definitely return in the future.
$4.00 for all show times. Unbelievable. Despite the dated late 70s decor and lots of seniors, everything else was great. Even the concession has good selections. An unpretentious cinema which offers quality films at such low price.
Great $4 cinema. Staff is super nice, snacks are delicious.
Goofy low budget ticket movie joint north of Seattle. Butter on their popcorn is outrageously good & almost genuine.
This is a decent movie theater. Because the prices were very affordable ($4.00 a person!), we tried twice, 2 days in a row to finally get tickets for Bohemian Rhapsody. Need to get in line early to buy tickets before they sell out! Decent seats and food.
This is not an usual movie theater that you find in a big mall. Its a pretty small movies theater but really cozy and family friendly. Usually you dont find latest movie but tickets are cheap and attendant are friendly and you can eat a lot of popcorn since they refill your bag for free if you buy the big size. It a really nice place to enjoy a movie with your kids or your friends and family. Recommended.
Incredibly cheap, definitely farther than Northgate from I think probably all of Seattle but certainly worth it.
A historical landmark and great place to watch films
Entertaining me with wonderful movies and a great price since I was 9. Fond memory...50 cent movies on Sundays.
Nice neighborhood theater, like I remember from the 60s, lovely, helpful staff, and at $4.00 the best bargain in the entire Seattle area.
A mainstay from my childhood, and still just as good today. Unbeatable cinema prices and very friendly staff.
This is an older historic theater so you wont find all the bells and whistles that the newer theaters offer... The Crest may not offer reclining seats or the hottest movies upon release (movies playing at the Crest have normally been release for a couple weeks already.) But what you will find is... $4 movies, the best popcorn with REAL butter, a popcorn seasoning station with several varieties to choose from and a local neighborhood feel. As a side note, the Crest has been gradually doing some remodeling. So some of the movie rooms have been updated with cushy comfy seats. Yes... the comfy seats do not recline and in some of the movie rooms, the rows are a little close to each other so leg room may be minimal but hey... Its $4!The theater is located in a neighborhood in Shoreline. They have a parking lot, as well as street parking is available.Overall, love this theater and will continue to support this business!
This is my favorite place to see a movie! The ticket are $4 a piece for big name movies. If you dont mind waiting to see the latest blockbuster, you can really save by seeing them here. The popcorn is actually the best popcorn of any movie theater. The seats arent anything special, but the theater is pretty old and part of the charm.
Great price but the room we were in was very cramped with little leg room. Very warm with a near sold out theater. Could use a better air conditioner or fan. Bathroom was dirty and in need of upgrade. Hope they continue to improve the rest of Crest. Ill change my review if they do so.
Great theater. Yummy popcorn! Fun place! Cheap.
Simple decor, great price of tickets friendly workers...
Cheap place to watch movies. Takes you back to theaters from past days. One theater with stadium seating. Concessions consist of the usual boxed candy, popcorn and pop but also offer mixed candy by the pound and herbal teas. I love this little theater. I hope it survives the Covid pandemic.
Great intimate, inexpensive movie house where you can usually find the current films after they have left the usual venues. Also look for showings of the better documentaries and independent films
Easy parking, great popcorn and good moves.
I love this place. Small town feel with a lot of culture. Cheap tickets and the staff are great. They greet you before the start of the movie which I thought was fun.
A great neighborhood old school movie theater. We saw the latest toy story movie, had a large popcorn and two beers for just over $20
Buttered popcorn is great and the price of the movies here is fantastic. Minus one star because the seats are uncomfortable and the bathrooms are inaccessible if one cant climb stairs. In the bathroom, the door to my stall kept coming open/unlatched while I was in there Still love me some big screen movies on the cheap and this is the best theater for that. They also have a lot of the Oscar winners showing right now.
A great Seattle landmark. Inexpensive movie tickets, great small town feel.
