The food is absolutely incredible. It may seem overpriced but once you try the food you will realize it is under priced. Very good serving sizes, the staff has been very friendly. Ive only had 3 things off the menu but all three far exceeded my expectations. The fried chicken and the pot roast were some of the best meals I have had in years. Highly recommend giving this restaurant a try either for take out or sit down.
I’m thrilled that Aurora Borealis has been added to the Shoreline community. The new owners have worked hard to transform an eyesore into a tasteful, modern restaurant (on the upper level) and hip bar + performance stage for bands and comedy shows (on the lower level).Since it’s opened, it appears that the owners have continued to brighten up and beautify the exterior of the building with flowers and a beautiful entrance door - making it very inviting - my hope is they continue to add to the front entrance (maybe even adding an outdoor patio area if possible one day?) so that it stands out even more! Regardless, Aurora Borealis is one step closer towards a safer and more appealing Aurora Ave N.I’ve tried their breakfast and was very pleased - I can easily imagine becoming a regular. I look forward to returning for both lunch and dinner and some point. The food was very tasty and appropriately priced. The menu offers a generous selection of delicious options - overall, a step above what I’ve seen most other Shoreline restaurants have to offer. The restaurant decor is modern and bright. I love the beautiful hardwood booths. I wish there was more natural light but the owners have done well enough with the interior design so that this is mostly compensated for.Once the word gets out, I imagine that this place will become quite a popular spot. It looks like a great place to grab a drink, watch a show and hang out with friends. My hope is that it word spreads and it takes off soon!I’m very thankful for this new addition to Shoreline and commend the owners on all of their hard work!
We were in the area and this looked like the best spot as we were on the go. So happy we stopped by this hidden gem! Everything was so good and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely be coming back
This place is really a treat. Been there twice now; once for dinner with a small party and again for breakfast with about 15 people. Both times Ive been impressed. Prices are great for the quality and quantity of food that you get here. You wont leave hungry. The staff are all really friendly. Dianna and the rest of the staff handled the big party with ease and we were never really waiting for anything. Im interested in checking out an event that they put on, be it live music, live-band karaoke, or a comedy show. This place would be great to watch a Seahawks game at with TVs all over the place. A couple TVs were even playing old-school Sonics games. I will be back.
Friendly, attentive staff. I had the chicken fried steak, and loved the chorizo sausage gravy! Ive never had something like it, and it made the gravy just a little spicy and such great flavor!
This is a pretty good place. Walking in I was a little surprised at how nice it was. They had taken the time to make it feel comfortable and warm with a little bit of an upscale feel. The lighting was very nice and the seating is comfortable. The dinning room has a very open and airy feel to it. As for the food is was good. I had a cup of clam chowder that was good. Then I had the fish and chips. This is where it went off the rails a little bit. The fish came in large pieces, which was nice, but the batter was under cooked. This made it a bit of a sloppy mess. I sent that back to be remade and what I got back was over cooked. One piece of fish was so over cooked the fish was dark and the batter had been fried away. Out of the 3 pieces that I got one was edible. On a positive note, the coslaw was very good and the fries were lite and well cooked. We also had the onion rings and coconut fried prawns and both were great. Also, the bar has a pretty good whiskey selection and looks to be a great place to have drinks. All in all I think this is a place to try. I will be going back to try other items on the menu because what I saw and smelled was pretty good.
No service. Bad management.Came for a private party. Ordered from the waitress. Waited 30 min, then she returns to say the printer did not work. Not crowded, went and got our drink at the bar. Yikes. Food. Traveled upstairs to order dinner. Sat for 10 min at the bar with no bartender in sight. Amazing. Waiting now for food. Hope its not an hour long detour. BTW, this is Saturday at 6:45 pm. Good luck.
We went to a John Elton tribute night performed by the Rain City Time Machine. THE best cover band in Seattle! Really good service. Very welcoming environment. Amazing show!! Whatever you do, check out Rain City Time Machine if you ever get the chance!! So worth it!!!
Great new music venue! Excellent selection and quality of food.
Great Place to Have Breakfast, or even an evening Meal. Every time we have been there we have had a great experience. the Servers are always warm and welcoming. I have ordered something different every single time, and I have never been dissatisfied.
As a first-timer, I was pleasantly surprised with the upstairs restaurant and bar and pro staff. Perfect spot to chill before the live music venue, in the basement, kicks off. Super convenient location right on Aurora/99.
Fresh, extensive remodel makes this oneof the best clubs for live music and dancing (concrete floor). Excellent lighting and sound system. Plenty of free parking! Nice restaurant upstairs, but i have not yet eaten there so cant yet comment. Check it out.
Love this little hidden gem on Aurora. Such a great quality for the price.
I needed to find a place for brunch between Seattle and Mukilteo, and Aurora Borealis seemed a good option. And so glad I came! The food was really tasty brunch fare, and they made alterations we requested. It was definitely one of the best unpretentious brunch places Ive been to in the area in a while. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, and I cant wait to check out a show in the downstairs club. And a call out to our server Jaden. He was attentive, friendly, and patient, and made us feel truly welcome there. I definitely recommend this restaurant, and know that Ill be visiting again.
A clean, upscale-looking, fantastic place for breakfast. Casey was attentive, caring, and friendly. She had good suggestions when I needed them and left me to my devices when I needed to explore the menu myself. Save for one other group of two, The place was deserted for breakfast when I arrived at 10:30. Orange juice was freshly squeezed and water came with a lemon which is a small but appreciated gesture. I had the chicken fried steak half plate. It came with a generous helping of chorizo gravy on top that had me curious, so I chose that over the eggs Benedict I originally came here for. I definitely feel like I made a good choice. The chorizo gravy complemented the fried steak really well, giving a nice savory flavor with just the right amount of spice for a breakfast dish. The hash browns were a notable part of the meal as well. The inside was soft and buttery with the outside being perfectly crisp, almost as if it was coated in a fine layer of potato chips. The eggs were fluffy and buttery and, pleasantly, needed no additional spice to enjoy. The bacon I ordered on the side was delicious as well.I dont know if it was because it was a weekday, but this place seemed like a hidden gem. It has a clean and upscale feeling with typical diner prices. I will definitely come back.
This was our first time to Aurora Borealis. Its a great place to see a band with 100 of your friends. You have good food and drinks to make it a good night. It gets busy as you would expect. Food was really good and they have a very good selection of beers! We will be back again,
This place is amazing! I went here for brunch with my partner and I had the southwestern Benedict with grits while my partner had the biscuits and gravy. The Benedict was the best Ive ever had, and the perfect portion size.
Thought wed try out this new place and support local businesses. While clearly brand new & spacious (on two floors!), the interior lacks a creative touch -- with the exception of the (slightly hokey) Aurora Borealis art in the private dining room room downstairs. Upstairs, we enjoyed a quiet meal. The wait staff were very nice and knowledgable, but prone to hovering. At our servers suggestion, we bought an appetizer, which was good but it filled me up too much to eat my dinner. Unfortunately (again for me), our server wrapped my chicken pot pie to take home but somehow left out the entire crust, so I came home to find just soup! Overall, it was not very interesting or satisfying, but we may try, try again as the long list of frequent entertainment (comedy and music) has piqued our interest for a next time.
This is the best place for events and we all love DJ Indicas Karaoke on Wednesdays! He is the best host and has crazy skills on the turntables. We love him!
It was a bad day experience at Aurora Borealis. Poor service and even worse food. Soup was like warm. Salad delivered with no salad dressing. Had to ask twice for dressing. It arrived after the main course arrived. Meat loaf was flavorful, but was left on the grill on one side and was crusty on that side. The fried chicken was over cooked. No flavor to the breading. It tasted burned. The wing, leg and breast were way over cooked and could not eat the meat as it was way over cooked the thigh was ok but the breading tasted burned. Then when we tried to check out they charged the wrong meal to us. We won’t be going back.
Top-notch event venue for live music. Okay early-morning breakfast. A new-ish spot and a refreshing break from the stale old choices that have dominated Aurora for years. For music, 5 stars, but the food needs work. My omelette tasted pretty bland. Havent had a bland omelet in years.
Good food and service. I plan on going back for some of the entertainment and more food. I might update a 5 star review. Stay tuned! Lol.
This place is becoming a local favorite for us. Though, they are still going through their expected growing pains. Seems like their server staff arent always up to date on the latest promotions and specials which are publicly advertised on the billboard and social media. But the food is consistent and one of the better options in the north end. We continue to support this place because we want to see it thrive in our neighborhood.
Great food. Terrible drinks. The bar is 100% automated. 100% measured... including wine. No good pours here...
Went for Thursday night football and the event center had the game on the projector. Just before halftime they killed the game (TVs off) and somewhat abruptly started some live music. Live music was a single guy who was fine but clearly most people were there for the game and left. This was all after my friend called ahead three times to confirm they would be showing the game.Beer selection and prices were fine. Lots of liquor choices but they use a machine to make cocktails and it was bad. Old fashion was so sweet I bought another shot and added it to the drink. Was still really sweet. All the liquor bottles have those pour control tops so youll get exactly one shot.Staff was really nice but the servers were stretched thin.Place may eventually be good, but I wouldnt recommend right now.
Love what they are trying to do here. Full calendar of music, comedy, trivia nights, even murder mystery events. However, do not expect stellar service and bring an extra layer, especially if you are sitting for long. It is a large space with concrete floors and it is chilly. Havent tried the food yet, but the menu looks above par. The entrance to the bar/event space is on the lower back ( East side) of the building. The top floor is a restaurant which faces Aurora. All in all, it is worth checking out.
Very clean and relaxing atmosphere! I had eggs Benedict and the food was the BOMB! Good place to take the family to and relatives when they come in town. Plenty of room to accommodate a Big Family!!!
I was pleasantly surprised when I came into this place. Clean, modern and service was pretty good. Breakfast although on the bit expensive side fed both my girlfriend and I! Hopefully theyll stay around and keep this place clean. I live in the area and will certainly come in again.
Very nice place. Friendly wait staff. Went in for their first ever taco night today, and coming from LA, I had low expectations. I was very impressed! I definitely recommend taco Tuesdays.
I want to give three and a half stars since the foods pretty good but the service is just ok. Seems like they have been cycling through a lot of different servers/waitstaff/bartenders which has left the service on the slow side at times. I gave them an extra half star because the location is very convenient for me.
Nicest staff youll come across. Wonderful atmosphere. The work hard there and its obvious.
Sturdy diner food. Friendly service. No wait and $2 mimosa treat
This is a really great place! Quite new in Shoreline, excellent food, attentive wait staff, family friendly, generous portions, pleasant atmosphere. They are open for all 3 meals. Cant wait to try breakfast!
Excited to have a fun place in Shoreline! The drinks were great as were the sandwiches we ordered. Service was also fantastic. Everyone is so friendly. Looking forward to going back soon!
Waitresses hot, but even better they anticipated what I wanted before I knew I wanted it. Food was very good but most impressive was that side menu items were great and prepared with as much care as entrees. I think that it will be a hang out and I look forward to live entertainment. Might even be better than I think.
Fabulous place! Good music, people and a great beer selection
Only if ratings were legit. Keep in mind every employee probably rated this place 5 stars. Its pretty inside but alcohol and their steak are the only good things here. Honest. Bad manager.
Nice, new place with good food and a friendly server. All omelets are $5.99 regardless of the menu price. I had the Santa Fe that has spicy chorizo, sour cream etc. Very good.Id like to see a little livelier decor. The first time I went they had just opened so I thought perhaps it wasnt completely decorated but it was the same today.
Overpriced. Bland food. I can cook a better steak myself, and dress a baked potato with more flavor. Service was chaotic, and timing of drink, appetizer, and main course was not on point. Waitress spilled a drink and tried to blame my dad for it. It was a bad experience and upset the whole family. And I want to say again - way way overpriced for quality of food. I will never go back even though I live right around the corner. Go somewhere else, you will be glad you did.
Nice dance floor. Wait staff somewhat attentitive. Drinks are way over priced! They spent tons of money on technology to prevent bartender from free pouring shots. Beers are not full pints either. If you plan on drinking at this bar, be prepared to shell out a lot of money.
Band was good. The staff is still learning. Could use more seating. Good size dance floor.
This is a new restaurant with a great concept. The atmosphere is modern, fun, and clean. Their desire for a variety of fun entertainment is intriguing. The space below would be great for all kinds parties, celebrations and corporate events.
Good service but prices were high for what it was. Watching preseason football game, $16.00 burger! Overpriced. Expecting happy hourspecials. I wont be back.. $60.00 for 2 hours.
We stopped in for breakfast. Great coffee. Great food. Our server Dianna couldn’t have been more friendly, gracious, and attentive. We’ll definitely be back!
They are definitely still working out some kinks in the front of the house, but the food was terrific!
Absolutely love this place! Service is always great and the food is amazing. We started coming here weekly and are looking forward to coming to a comedy night in the future.
We went to dinner here for a staff night out and had a good time. Food was good, drinks were good, clean and friendly. The manager showed us around and helped us feel welcome and appreciated. Look forward to going back
The service food was good, clean every nice place to dine.
The steak and eggs were amazing. Montana gave the best service.
This is a new venue in Shoreline just north of Seattle. I had a Western Burger that was really good. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very cool.
Its beautiful inside buuuuuut Keeping in mind that they are new they have lots to work on.... the fettuccine and spaghetti did not have enough sauce and so were kinda dry. Not enough gravy on the potatoes. The meatballs were too spicy and tasted like they were made mostly, if not all, sausage. I asked for balsamic vinaigrette but I got straight balsamic vinegar. There were no rolls. The waitress(?) and barmaid(?) were wearing black tank tops. That is not appealing in a restaurant. They should have been dressed like the server being trained ... sleeves. Well go back after they have had time to work out the kinks.
High quality food. Friendly, attentive staff. Dont let the exterior dissuade you.
Great, friendly service. Drinks were well mixed and food was delicious. My only issue that I found was that the cheese fondue was overly thick.
Absolutely amazing service and food! Breakfast was delicious and a great deal. If we lived nearby we would be regulars for sure! Definitely a place worth checking out!
Good food, good Bloody Marys and friendly staff. I highly recommend this place.
This place is great! A top-notch restaurant and event space in the North end of Seattle where there is a dearth of good entertainment options. I have been there many times and they have given consistently great service. Of course, they’re new, so still trying to figure some things out, but given just an ounce of understanding, you will have a great time! I LOVE the comedy shows on Wednesdays and now trivia on Tuesdays! The food is tasty and affordable. Check it out! I guarantee you’ll be back.
Went a little over week ago, had some drinks at the upstairs bar which was fun and the waitress was extremely nice! Went downstairs however, the bartender was slow, asked to order while there was barely anyone there and was denied because he was “busy”. Finally got to order food which was mediocre but expensive (not even mad about the food or prices) we cashed out and left when it started to get busy. Thank god I kept a copy of my receipt since the bartender took it upon himself to add an additional $10 gratuity to our bill even with a cash tip.
Friendly and fast staff. Exquisite food. Super cool venue downstairs!
Great Music Venue. Havent eaten there yet.
I dont think the manager with a pony tail cares about this place. I sent back the cheese fondue, it was rubbery and not something you can eat. He walked down looked at me and walked away. Drinks are over priced. You think you are getting a 16oz pour and it is a 14 oz pour. The wait staff staff is great. Avoid this place.
Great place for a meeting and good food to enjoy also.
Just tried the new restaurant out for breakfast. Service was great!!! Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Decor was very pleasing. Food was fantastic and portions were large. Coffee was refilled without having to flag anyone down for more!! I will definitely be returning to try out the lunch and dinner menu. Very interested in the comedy night on Wednesdays in downstairs venue.
It was my first time there and had the prime rib dinner. The service and food was excellent!
Awesome place. Maybe get xtra bar staff. When it was super packed it took way long to get a drink of any kind.
Excellent Venue with Live Music (Rain City Time Machine was amazing!), delicious food, clean and new facility, cool lighting, great sound, and fun atmosphere! This is a great place for dancing as well as watching the Seahawks! My new favorite club!
Emily at the bar was quite good to us. Attentive service and good food. I had the tuesday taco special and their Oktoberfest brauts. Both good. A spirits price list would be helpful as they have an extensive whiskey selection. They are new so give them the benefit of the doubt. I was happy I did.
Table wait-service appears to be better when sitting closer to the bar. Appeared to be short-staffed. Sporcle trivia night is every Tuesday nite.
Entertainment was great, wouldnt come for the food or service. My meal came within 5 minutes of ordering and came cold (skeptically fast, like it was already made and sitting out) my side salad came 30 minutes after my entree and my fiances meal came out 30 minutes after I got mine, so we ate separate. They forgot all his sides so they came sparatically after we had ate. Food was overpriced and mediocre at best. Ill come again to redeem the free appetizer the manager promised us as long as there is some other nice live band to listen to.
Nice spot with friendly people and excellent food!
Stopped off here after I had a last-minute cancelation for a hair appointment Id booked. Ill echo what others have said, the lighting is a bit weird, but it was 3pm so it didnt really bother me. Food was amazing, service was so friendly (they showed me around the whole place; theyre clearly very proud of it, as they should be! Its beautiful), theyve got a huge menu stretching from breakfast to dinner and the bar is stocked with some very nice spirits.Id also love it if the reviewer complaining about the Pappy 23yr prices could point me to a cheaper option for that vintage, because it seems like a bargain at the quoted price. Quality whiskey comes at a quality price.
Ordered on GrubHub found the meal to be pathetically small and overpriced. I had to add left overs to make a complete meal.
Went to see the dope show was awesome but had a great time
We had a super fun night. The staff is really great too.
Justine W. New server was very good. Pleasant, efficient and engaging.
It was very up-to-date and clean and inviting.they seem to be training staff so the service was a little slow and it was a Tuesday.
I love it!!! The food was delicious, fantastic drinks, awesome service!!! YES!!! I will go there again!!
This is the place for Trivia, amazing tacos and $5 tequila of any kind!!!!
Great atmosphere. Excellent food. Wonderful service!
Good food. New decor is lovely. Friendly staff
Great place to watch sports games with friends! Food was really good.
An ok place to watch a game and when the servers were around they were quite friendly. It surprised me when they ran out of several of their beer choices.
Clean, comfortable and good food. Shoreline has a nice restaurant with good staff!
Breakfast was good, good service, good prices. Can’t wait to try dinner there.
Loved it! Good food, super friendly service, almost too attentive wanting to give a good impression. The atmosphere was super nice and bright
The staff was great, the food was great. Well managed and reasonably priced. Large selection of specialized liquor.
The food was excellent the drinks were awesome and the live bands were amazing
Very nice place. Way bigger than youd expect and got a good burger here
Overall OK. We went there for brunch, & to check it out for the first time.If you ever visited the Drift on Inn youll find it familiar. The bones are the same, the bar and kitchen are in the same spots and dominate the room, but the upstairs area had a nice refresh with interesting lighting, new carpeting, and such.Thats nice but it still wont get you past the overall feeling that youre in a bar/night club before it opens due to the lack of windows and acoustics. Our server was friendly, but seemed pretty new to the business since she had no idea what I meant when I asked if they did their burgers to order aka medium/med rare etc.The food itself arrived, a tetch heat lamped, but not too bad, and was of good quality bar food, so better than most.(For those who care..the burgers here are far to thin to be done to order).I did not get a chance to check out the downstairs, thats reserved for shows and events. In conclusion, seems like an OK spot, & the locations great.Overall its a bit barrish & dark for my taste for a breakfast or lunch spot, but decent food, friendly service, but it fills a niche in the area.I may go back & see how they do for show at some point, and will report on that if/when I do.Cheers
The wife and I tried out this new restaurant today. It is very clean and the food is good. We will be back again to try out the other food items.
