Wyoming’s first special use lease for recreational use, broke new ground. Prior attempts to obtain leases for non-consumptive uses, were labeled nonproductive. Four people met every month for 5 years to get a place for ORV sticker buyers to ride, which is especially important in Sheridan County before the Red Grade Road opens.The Public Land Users Committee (PLUC), was formed in 2002 to promote public access to public land, for recreational use. We marked thousands of acres of public Lands in Sheridan and Johnson County, to facilitate public access, and to reduce conflicts with adjacent land owners.In 2009 we started construction on the 3-Poles track, by fencing the cattle out of the land leased by Sheridan County from the Office of State Lands & Investments (OSLI). PLUC has raised, and spent more than $20,000 to provide “free riding” to the public. (Note: WY ORV stickers, helmets, and appropriate footwear are required for riding). In 2017 OSLI expanded the 3-Poles Sheridan County Recreation District lease to just over 69 acres.Phyllis Simon was very determined to “Have a place where kids can go play.” The really unusual aspect was that none of the PLUC Board members rode, or had family members that benefited directly from 3-Poles.The tracks are in the process of being changed. The motocross track is being divided into a 4x4/UTV riding area (SE area), and a revamped motocross track (NE). The beginners area (SW) is being expanded in the fenced-off former compressor station area. Please enjoy!

I love the dirt bike track it is a long and fun track to ride on and I do recommend going there.

3-Poles is looking for a major rework this Spring. The new beginners area needs to be finished, the UTV track needs to be separated from the motocross area, and the motocross needs to be extended into some new & repurposed areas.Total area now is just shy of 70 acres! The water tank will allow us to water the track, if we can get a wagon to spray, and arrange for delivery from our water haul permits. We need help fencing, and doing dirt work, when the weather permits.
