The park was beautiful. There were a few other groups of people there, but everyone I encountered masked up before passing us, which I really appreciated. There wasnt a speck of litter anywhere. Thats got to be a testament to how much the visitors love the place, because I didnt see a single employee anywhere. That concerned me. There was nobody at the kiosk in the entrance. That might be because the season is over(summer season), but I expected someone to be there. Its alright I guess. The place was in really good shape. So someone must be going in to maintain the trails.I brought my dog with me. Dogs are welcome, but must stay leashed. Which is a rule we follow. And every other dog owner there that day ALSO followed.Overall, it was a really fantastic trip. And I cant wait to go again.

This was our first, and definitely not our last visit to Kohler Andrae State Park on Lake Michigan. We camped a couple of nights here and enjoyed it very much. Beautiful beaches and dunes to explore, and nice shaded campsites. Expect to hear the roar of the waves throughout the campground on windy days. Trust me on this- bring your mosquito spray. All bathrooms and vault toilets were very clean. Their concession stand is currently closed, and they are not selling firewood or ice, due to COVID-19 concerns. Bring your family and your dog and have fun at this awesome park!

One of Wisconsin’s unique and breathtaking trails, the Dunes trail is accessible for most people and is a moderate difficulty hike. There are parts of the cordwalk that get washed over with sand or covered in water, but the majority of the path is very walkable. I would recommend starting one end, and then taking the beach on your way back. You might get sand in your shoes, and if you are walking along the beach your shoes will get wet.

This park is a fun escape from the standard Wisconsin scenery, no matter the season. Explore rolling sand dunes on winding cordwalks. Note that while the wooden planks make hiking easier, there are often slippery, steep and buried segments that less mobile folks may find challenging.

Great place to enjoy nature, camp and check out Lake Michigan. The water has been high this year do the beach is tiny, but 0nce ot goes down again you can enjoy a wider beach than we did. Love the nature trails and especially the boardwalk wood surfaces!!

Gorgeous. I was astonished with how lovely the views were of Lake Michigan from the hiking trail. The sand dunes were really pretty and made for a fun walk with family. We hiked for over an hour and ended our visit with a dip in the water and relaxed on the beach. I loved our visit so much that I returned the following Saturday!

Beautiful place!Came here on a cooler day and there was very few people. It’s a quiet and peaceful park, and the shoreline stretches on for a few miles and is nice to walk along. The water was very blue, and the beach was beautiful. There’s lots of cool rocks to look at and collect!Restrooms are clean and parking lots are well maintained. I recommend getting here early as parking lots are small and full up fast. The boardwalk is also cool- it’s a nice trail, but is rickety, hilly, and may be difficult to walk along for some people. My only complaint was the number of bugs and flies. Maybe it was just the one day I was here- but there was so many flies, and I had a lot of bug bites. But I guess that’s just part of the experienceI highly recommend this park- beautiful place for a day trip to the beach.

Great place by a great lake. Unfortunately, the lake has reclaimed most of the sandy beach. The biggest negative would have to be the over abundance of mosquitoes in summer. The second biggest bummer is the amount of trash all over the park. It is really upsetting to see such a beautiful place covered in trash. I dont know what is worse, mosquitoes or litterbugs.

For $8 daily admission (or annual State Parks pass), this is the best dog friendly beach we have found near the Milwaukee area. Just discovered this gem in Wisconsin! If you want a safe socially distanced day trip, for those who live in the southern part of the state, check out this park. These are pics of the Dunes Cordwalk, the trail next to lake Michigan. A word of forewarning, parts of the trail were flooded over, prob because of the storms we got over 2 weeks ago and the sand is better to walk on the trail at times verses the boardwalk, boardwalk can be not very secured down in some areas. There are some outlets that lead to the beach, so nice, reminds me of a little ocean up in the midwest! Highly recommend this park!

Great views of the lake and very nice sand dunes. This is one very impressive park to see the sights. The unfortunate part is that the state of Wisconsin is no t keeping the infrastructure up to date. The roads buildings etc are showing their age and need better upkeep. We drove out early in the morning to take our 5-month-old Golden Retriever to the dog-friendly beach in April of 2018 and were not disappointed. He had an absolute blast and it was wonderful to have a place to allow him to splash around in the water and walk some trails. The views were beautiful at sunrise and the park was clean, quiet, and clearly well cared for. We took a drive through the campground to see if it was one wed plan to stay at on a future camping trip and found it to be nicely shaded, quiet, and laid out well. We will definitely go back to this park and will probably be camping there in the future.

The walk to the beach and along the entire shore from Parking 5 to the Nature Center is gorgeous. The beach itself is clean of litter. However, I found the Cordwalk Trail to leave much to be desired. Many of the boards were uprooted or covered in sand or overgrown with invasive weed species. Perhaps Im used to hiking State Park trails that are very well maintained. All that being said, I realize the government has taken away a lot of funding from State Parks and perhaps the poorly kept (and hazardous) trails are a result.

Great state park. But be aware of the small twisty roads that are hard to get a camper in and out in some places. I also wish the nature center would have been open earlier in the day. Only disappointment was that they were grinding stumps right next to our campsite on Saturday. It was pretty noisy for an hour and I feel thats work they can do during the week. Also noticed a lot of people without state park stickers, many from out of state, taking advantage of the gatehouse being unoccupied with no warden presence. We were also told by a couple (that were older) that they had to kick out a bunch of younger people that showed up and started using their campsite while they were away. Doesnt seem as safe as it has been in the past without wardens patrolling more frequently.
