This is an actual former water bed. Not a man made fake fossil park. So imagine what fossils you can find in the multiple layers of land under an old bed of water. We found some old presserved fossilized bone and outlines from former crustaceans. It doesnt seem like anyone minds if you take what you find too. Definitely worth a look if you are in the area. Its behind some small industrial buildings

Trammel Fossil Park is amazing! Absolutely every step you take there, you are stepping on fossils. They have a beautiful area set up with educational information with benches to sit on. It is just a wonderful place to visit. I was so impressed.

Not many places that let you keep the fossils you find. They are literally just laying everywhere and all you have to do is pick them up. There is a bit of shade, but still, bring some water! Tools are fine but really unnecessary. However, good shoes are a must as you are climbing up somewhat crumbly rocks at a fairly step pitch. (You dont have to climb, but much more is available to you if you do.) Great view too, if you overlook the business park.

Lots of rock/fossils even without digging. Almost no shade and things can be steep/slippery for little kids. But bring a shovel and bucket and find a spot of shade and your toddler can be occupied for a long time. There are picnic tables but no shade for those at all.

We had a beautiful day for this and were in the area after visiting Kings island. We were told to bring our fossil crazed 9 year old here about a year ago. It is 3 hours from our home so I was going to plan a trip just to go here. I am glad that I didnt end up doing that. I thought that there would be a building/mini museum on the property. But it is more of a little city park. There is a driveway and a large gravel pit. There are a few signs and some picnic tables. No bathrooms. It would be amazing if someone added to this place, but maybe this is for the best. It was not crowded. We found a fossil within a minute of arriving. Even my 6 year old who totally didnt want to go to this, ended up finding fossils and loving it. We found mostly brachiopods and corals. We searched for trilobites with no success. I would suggest bringing a blanket or pad to sit on while you look. It would also be a great place for a picnic. Definitely a fun time with the family!

Bring a hammer and chisel (or old screwdriver) and have a ball digging into old limestone fossil beds. Just dont be fooled into thinking that this site has any special significance in terms of types of fossils found, or the quantity of them. Its the same as any exposed limestone hillside in the area, with the exception of it being fenced off for digging. There are some nice signs near tables where you can try to identify the coral and ancient undersea creatures you have unearthed. Kids love it.

It was a fun place to look at Fossils. It was neat looking at the different types and telling my son about it. I wish there was shade around the areas that is teaching visitors about the different fossils, because it was BLAZING hot, so we couldnt stay there long. So bring some refreshments, an umbrella, and good hiking shoes.
