If there is a place you don’t want to miss this is the place. The last time we were there we had our grandchildren with us and was it ever memorable. They couldn’t believe just how awesome a cavern could be. The guides are very good and I can promise that your attention will be kept throughout the tour. This is an absolute must see...

Very beautiful cave with lots of different formations. Our guide Tyler did an outstanding job of explaining the cave features and was really outgoing. This is still very much a wet cave that is still growing. There is an underground river and a gorgeous reflection pond. There werent too many steps or low spots to traverse. One of the best caverns that I have been to.

Tour guide very informative and charismatic.Gave time and encouraged photos of formations and to be careful not to disturb the natural processes. It rained pretty heavily during the tour so got to see (and feel by being dripped on) water in the cave.By the way no video allowed during tour; path winds a bit and you will have to dodge or duck formations.Gift shop has reasonable prices & collectible gems/trinkets/shirts.

Be careful how you chose to get here if you have an RV. We accidentally took the wrong way there and it was up a d down a VERY narrow and super curvy road which took double the time. The cavern was awesomeGreat tour guide, friendly and knowledgeable. Great caver to visit with kids and grandparents.

Off the beaten path, but worth the drive. An Amazing underground adventure! 58 degrees year round, which also allows for a nice break from the oppressive heat of the south in the summer. Informative and well ran. Our guide had impressive historical knowledge of the caverns. They take great care to preserve the rock formations and ensure their long-term growth. The lighting adds a whole different layer to the caverns which allows everyone to admire nature at its finest.

Great one-hour tour... Definitely worth the admission price of $16.00.This was a very good visit, interesting stuff in the cave. It is a guided tour so you dont get to explore by yourself which is good if you have little ones.Ive been to alot of caves, its not the best, but a pretty good one. Love the colorful lighting & underground stream...

This was a nice little tour. It was about an hour long walking tour, I believe about a half mile. There are tight areas and stairs are well as lots of puddles but you are in a cave so it is to be expected. Some small children and folks who have difficulty walking may not find this enjoyable. We had a large group with young kids (including my own). There is a time of total darkness in which some kids may be frightened but it is only for a short time. They stop and talk a lot which is what takes the most time. There are beautiful sites and a stream runs through it. The guide tells a lot of information about how the caves were used and there are artifacts left behind from the moonshiners of the past. I believe it was about 16/adult and 10/children 3 and under are free. Remember, if you are military you get a discount in almost everywhere in TN.

Review №18

This might have been the most beautiful place we visited in all of TN. Price of the tour was reasonable, and it had rained the night before so there were drips of water off the stalagmites and the underground rivers were really flowing strong. I would definitely recommend it. Be warned, its wet and slippery and requires a little bit of effort.

The caverns were beautiful! This defiantly a must see!! The colorful lighting on the structures were awesome. Pictures don’t do it justice. The tour moved pretty fast though. We waited a while in the store for a group to form. Which ended up being a huge crowd so if you were in the back you couldn’t hear. The ground was easy to walk on and there weren’t many stairs but I would recommend wearing sneakers.

I have had many trips to Forbidden Caverns in the Smokies area over the years. It is pretty cool. There are many fascinating stories and rock formations in the cave. I have seen salamanders and bats in the caves. There is a gift shop for suvenvirs and bathrooms that are usually available and pretty clean. You can get a drink of water from a water fountain that gets its water from the cave aquifers. There is lightning on the paths through the Caverns and the paths are well kept. Good place for a rainy or excessively sunny weekend day trip.

I loved it, the guide was very nice, funny, and loud enough for everyone to hear. The walk through took about an hour and there was really no rushing along which made it more enjoyable. Awsome sight to be seen if your into caves and rock formations (or if you just want to see something new)!

The caverns are absolutely beautiful in their natural beauty. Unfortunately i believe the stories offered by the guides are embellished and even fabricated at times. The entrance is not naturally occurring. It is constructed of the back of the gift shop and the original chimney type entrance is nothing more than a tourist attraction. 4stars because I believe the guides work hard to do their jobto the best of their training. Dakota was our guide. He was ready forpractically any question and he was clearly doing his best to entertain his group. Our group was not particularly friendly as this would have made it a bit more fun being underground together.

EVerything you would expect a guided tour of an ACTIVE limestone Cave to have!!! I loved seeing all the live formations still growing, the rare white Onyx walls, pillars, cave curtains, even a tiny bat had settled in its hibernation nook on the ceiling for the winter... excellent gift shop too! Rare stones, jewelry, souvenirs, I highly recommend going while its still open to the public. I heard it might be closed down in the coming years, possibly due to lack of revenue. Everyone in the area should encourage everyone they know to see it once, maybe thatll make a difference and keep it open! BEAUTIFUL!

Our tour guide was super friendly and knowledge! This guided tour is fairly accessible but there is a staircase involved and a decent bit of an uphill grade at the end. Children and older adults could experience without too much trouble, for my partner and I it was a total breeze. I took a tour today in the cavern and found it to be very interesting and fascinating. It gives you an idea of how underground rivers must work as well as aquifers. Its very chilly down in the cave in the low to mid 50s. Keep that in mind as the outside Temps today were in the low 90s but down in the cave a long sleeve shirt a sweater or light jacket would have felt nice.

I believe the tour guide honestly enjoyed his job, talking about the area and the cave history. This is a little out of the way, but an easy drive and nice clean air conditioned restrooms in the parking lot.The underground river, moonshine still and formations make it an interesting hike.If you have children that freak out in the dark, might want to think twice. They do turn the lights out at one point, absolute darkness.

After paying around the same price or more for cruddy, outdated museums where half the stuff doesnt work, this place was refreshing. Im 61 and had to be pretty careful with my head in places, and also wore skater shoes with zero grip, which was a mistake, but still didnt give me much trouble since there are rails everywhere. I never really slipped at all, despite it being fairly wet and smooth floor. But we were very well informed by our guide Alex of all this before we went down, and they offer a full refund if you cant make it through the first room. My wife, son (7) and daughter (9), very much enjoyed it.

I would recommend touring the caves. I would not recommend bringing kids who cannot walk and/or stand on their feet for 45 minutes. The kids that were in our tour group loved the tour along with the adults. Our tour guide was amazing! I wish they would accept tips! I was disappointed in their gift shop as all their clothes were outdated and the same. They did not have an ornament (which I collect on all vacations) of the caves so I guess Ill be making my own with my pictures I took. They do not tell you that you will have to climb stairs and if you can or cannot take pictures while paying. Thank goodness our tour guide was amazing and very informal! We will definitely be back!
