The theater has a beautiful old time Asian theme. Ushers and staff are helpful and friendly. The performance, that I attended, Annie was endearing and playful. The actors/singers were well rehearsed and proficient, the writing was witty, and the adaptation to stage was effective, if a little bit truncated. It was directed well, although it was a bit kitschy in regard to blocking and choreography. All told, I enjoyed my time here very much.
Beautiful, old, ornate, live theatre.Plenty of parking close by though its fairly expensive.Shows are typically nicely done and professional. Great acoustics, staging and lighting.
The 5th Avenue Theatre is to Seattle theatre as the Space Needle is to Seattles skyline. Its the jewel of the city. Its in its own class, very nicely complementing the rest of what the city has to offer. If youre going to the 5th Avenue Theatre, youre going to the best show in town. The building itself is in the center of the downtown Seattle commercial district with all the excitement people on the streets, fancy hotels on every block and window shopping well-lit by twinkle lights in trees along the way.Inside is just as as impressive. The history and classic designs and decor make you feel like youre in another time. However, the lines for drinks and restrooms were so long at the intermission you might want to take care of business beforehand. The show we saw was pretty OK. Not amazing but still entertaining. There were some sound issues but Ill put that on the production team and not the venue.
Beautiful theatre! This was my first time seeing a performance here and I was in awe. We had seats in the very back and I still had a good view and the sound wasnt compromised. The only downside was the super bright spotlight window being right behind us. Several people looked back at the bright light and it illuminated everyone around us. The seats are spaced nicely though so you have a clear view in-beteeen the people sitting in front of you.
This is a beautiful old theater. Musicals of all sort, some original premiers that will become Broadway hits. If you buy 3 or more shows in a package they reduce the price...and there are ways more than three we want to see. Youll be happy you tried it.
This theatre is aesthetically beautiful. It was built in 1926 and has retained that feel. Its Chinese in decor with carved dragons Im pillars and huge red Chinese lanterns hanging from the ceilings. Great lobby and not a bad seat in the house. They have developed a program for high school students called Rising Stars which works on life skills as well as artistic talent. Incredible performance of West Side Story! They have an eight show season and I would highly recommend attending with the high quality they promote onstage and backstage!
Ive been here now a total of 2 times, hating my first visit and absolutely adoring the second visit. During West Side Story I found my experience lacking, despite the set design being amazing. My opinion however changed with my viewing of Mrs. Doubtfire. The scenes were phenomenal and the acting talent was beautiful selected. I was dancing in my seat the whole time and actually fount that the seats were significantly comfier than the Paramount Theatre, to which I frequently visit.
This is a fabulous theater to catch a musical! The Asian theme is gorgeous and rich. Ive seen a few shows from various vantage points. Not a bad seat in the house. Good location in Seattle, close to restaurants and shops. Make a weekend of it!
Always at least 2 good ciders on tap. Great food. All staff I have had have always been top-notch.
Mostly loved it because of the show. If youre a big person, watch out. Seats are pretty small, leg room is somewhat limited, and Im only 511. I seemed to have the tallest guy in the room in front of me which only became a nuisance from time to time (when him and his girlfriend would snuggle their heads together blocking my viewing gap). Overall the vibe of this place is to no surprise nostalgic, as there is tons of history in this place. There probably arent a lot of bad seats here, but I wouldnt want to be any further back than where we were in section C. Overall a very solid outing!
We had an awesome experience the people there were really good to us. There were two disabled people in our party and they went above and beyond for us. however always make sure you remember where your car is parked and make sure that the parking garage doesnt close there are a few of the parking garages that are open 24 hours a day use them or you could very well be stranded downtown without your car.
I loved it so much I bought season passes! The 5th Avenue Theatre staff went above and beyond to provide for our handicap needs. My grandmother had had a recent fall and had to be transported in and around in a wheelchair and helped in an out of her seat. The staff were gracious kind, and took extra time to seat us properly and make sure everything was okay. When we ran into a hiccup with our tickets they rectify the situation almost immediately. Theres absolutely nothing to complain about here. Parking prices were reasonable for Seattle. Concession prices and their array of foods was exceptional for Seattle area. And the performance was beyond amazing. The theater itself is so gorgeous that its almost like its a performance. The upstairs womens bathroom is not a sight to be missed. It is a show in and of itself written into the walls and Design of the mirrors and sinks. Theres very little not to love about this place.
I have never been disappointed with the shows at The 5th! This is the place in Seattle to see Broadway musicals with the touring cast and also new plays before they hit Broadway. I have been coming here since the mid - 80s, and everything about this place is first class! Tonights show was spectacular! (Marie, Dancing Still) I am sorry I waited so long to see it, as it closes tomorrow. It would not surprise me if it gets a Tony for the lighting if not for other aspects of the show.I would love to come back and bring friends if it wasnt closing so soon. They actually have a special discount if you do come back a second time. The building itself is a piece of art (my picture doesnt do it justice). Everywhere you look you will see beautiful carvings and painting.
Always an amazing experience! The shows here are phenomenal! My fiancé and I have been season subscribers for two years now. I love that they work with us to pay our tickets in increments also! We were able to split the payment up into three. This season we chose to do Sundays and we loved how relaxed and less crowded it was. Coming here has become one of our favorite date nights!
If you have an opportunity to see a show at the The 5th Avenue Theatre, I would highly recommend it. There are many wonderful restaurants nearby, and the theatre is absolutely beautiful. A must-see in my book.
Unfortunately, I was unable to see the show I had tickets to. However, the customer service was amazing in helping me with my options. I look forward to supporting this theater in the future!
Broadway level quality. In fact some Tony winners (like Memphis) actually premiered here.Beautiful interior. If you sit on the floor, check out the dragon on the ceiling!Plus they have fantastic education programs for aspiring theater performers and technicians.
Loved our visit! Seating is great and the staff is fantastic. Say hi to Spencer at the bar in the Founders Lounge! Great service.
Gorgeous live musical theater with great productions. Its worth spending more to be seated in the front half. Choose seats on the floor that arent under the balcony, or choose seats in the mezzanine in the first 12 rows. The seats in the back dont let you see or hear very well, so you might be disappointed if you sit in back to save money.
I love the old stylings of this theatre, which has been beautifully maintained along with the addition of a great sound system. Add to that great performances of classic musicals and the launchpad for new and innovative shows to Broadway... and what more could you ask for?
I absolutely loved watching Mrs Doubtfire. The Theatre is fantastic, and the show was amazing. The only thing I would warn people on is to allow extra time to get to and from vehicle. Only 2 elevators and only allowed 10 people at a time.
Fantastic productions, but intermission bathrooms and drinks are crazy! So pre-order wine, get the to-go cup so you can take the drink into the theater and youth might leave before intermission for bathrooms! Happy holidays!
Cute theater, great programming. Its not the most comfortable, the most modern, but that doesnt matter. If you dont have an expensive ticket, dont forget your binoculars!
Went to watch Mrs. Doubtfire! Amazing venue, great play that made a wonderful tribute to Robin Williams, and very kind staff that are always there to help whenever you need it.
What a fantastic venue.Ive seen shows in most theatres on Broadway and Londons West End, and the 5th matches them all in beauty and quality. The staff are great, the sightlines in the venue are excellent, and the productions they stage are legendary. One of the greatest modern musicals (and Tony award winner for Best Musical) Memphis debuted in this very space before taking Broadway by storm.
Was great. The Union station parking has made it so convenient, connected to 5th Ave. Dont hardly have to walk outside. All seats have great views of stage, acoustics are amazing
So much fun seeing Mrs. Doubtfire. What a wonderful performance! Standing ovation. A nice place to go to escape the ugliness of todays world with a message of love for every person walking the face of the earth, no matter how different they may seem.
My daughter and I are big fans of Jane Austen. We have read the book and have seen most film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice so we were pretty excited to see the musical version. As musicals go there was nothing inspiring with the music. Cant remember anything about the songs, lyrics or tunes. They definitely need to go back to the drawing board with the music. Otherwise the playwright was outstanding and so were the cast.
So proud of our Fifth Avenue Theater. Its becoming a national leader in live musical development and performance. Mrs. Doubtfire was delightful!
It was great! Very welcoming and comfortable to see a musical, great to bring kids to. Great for both kids and adults
Beautiful theater with great shows. I saw Mrs doubtfire in the cheapest seat and it was a great show and I could still see everything
Beautiful theatre in an excellent location. Available parking was safe, well-lit and very reasonably priced. Excellent restaurants in walking distance. My friends and I were fortunate to see the debut of Mrs. Doubtfire. The cast was FANTASTIC--the dancing, singing and orchestra were Broadway quality. No need to plan another trip to NYC for a show...5th Ave...youve won me over!
Always love this place. Superb play this evening. Lovely old playhouse, clean, staff is always friendly
The interior here is stunning and the shows have ways been right on par with the Paramount in terms of quality. Would recommend a show here to anyone. If I did have one critique, Im a relatively little person, and the isles are basically non existent so getting up and down and to and from your seat can be very awkward (I specifically remember this being an issue in balcony seating). However, thats small stuff, and I still give five stars and highly suggest this awesome theater.
Superb ! Absolutely LOVEEDDD the play . Nicely put together on a well thought out stage. In a gorgeous cathedral, with concessions in every corner, extra seat cushions and a Live Broadway performance? Youre guaranteed some memorable moments ! Highly recommend... for all ages !
Beautiful theater with such an amazing history. They always have fantastic shows that leave you dazzled. The decor inside the theater is stunning Asian theme from the beginning of the 20th century
My family loves this place! We enjoy every show that we see which is about 4-5 a year!
Has the cleanest bathrooms Ive ever seen! Seats are comfortable and wasnt too expensive.
Fun, old theater with Chinese influence and super sweet staff all around. Will definitely return for another date night. LOVED Austens Pride!
Beautiful theater! The performances are top-rate, the staff are friendly, it always feels like a special occasion being there. Best of all, they have seat cushions for those of us whove never had an unobstructed view of the stage (if youre shorter than average).
Tonights performance of Marie: Still Dancing was beautiful. Theater and show get 5 stars.
Its so beautiful!!
My wife, son and I enjoyed watching MRS. DOUBTFIRE the day after Christmas 2019. Beautiful, well cared for auditorium to watch live theater.
Beautiful place, great show and classy staff!
Beautiful place. chose your seating wisely, you could wind up in the ceiling
GREAT theater, GREAT shows! We saw Mrs. Doubtfire this night. Sat in center, row Z, and still had a great view.
This cynical and jaded New Yorker is officially pleasantly surprised. Lovely theater. Great sound. The seats are a little stiff and the nosebleed seating area is a little too warm, but the place has character and the views are great, even from up here.
We love shows at the 5th Ave! Professional performances with awesome service, and season tix at a great price.
We went for the first time to see Mrs. Doubtfire last night. The theater is in a good location and we sat upstairs there is plenty of seating its not a huge theater but it does supply intimacy to the setting and the asian theme is well done. They provided seat cushions which are a big help for sitting through a show. I would like to see something else here now.
We absolutely love The 5th Avenue Theatre! The venue is beautiful. The staff are helpful and engaging. And the shows are always a delight. While we have certainly enjoyed some performances more than others, we always leave feeling like weve gotten more than our moneys worth.Additionally, we appreciate that this venue offers refreshments, as its always nice to grab a little treat at intermission time :)Now if we could just do something about those restroom lines.
It was an amazing venue. Staff was incredible, and I was happy with everything.
I drove from Louisiana to see a former student of mine perform in the Hunchback of Notre Dame playing at The Fifth Avenue Theatre in Seattle. The 2,400 seat theater was incredibly decked out in Chinese decorations, and the view from all seats was wonderful. I would eagerly visit this theater again.
A wonderful historic venue. Even with a full house, bathroom lines moved quickly at intermission. The volunteers/staff were polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. I did not have anything from the bar while there, but the lady I was sitting next to did, and she was super pleased with her drink and the service she received. The show itself was amazing. A great family day out.
Great performances and good to support local theater!
Just a gorgeous and historic theater. Look up! Im always excited when I find out an event I want to see is here. However the seats could be more comfortable (I saw Wicked and it was over 3 hours long. My butt hurt for a week!)
I dont love musicals, but my kid does. So once a month we go to a show. I do love the building, with its chinoiserie decor and the productions at the 5th Ave are usually top notch and with the trip. The place is always packed, too! Just saw Bliss tonight, featuring Martin Cantone.
Lovely old theater with great sound, relatively generous leg room compared to other local venues
Beautiful little theater! Mrs. Doubtfire was AMAZING! Well be back for more shows here!
Love the art deco feel and decorations, it adds a fun element to the joy of the theater.
I have been there a few times now. It is an amazing theater, and the shows are great!
Packed house and low/no A/C made for an uncomfortable experience. The West Side Story cast, orchestra, sets and vocals made up for it! Excellent production + sandwiches + brownies + cookies, all homemade, made for an enjoyable evening overall.
Seattle is very lucky to have this gem. Home to locally produced Broadway caliber productions, the 5th Avenue Theater is a truly incredible organization. I would encourage anyone to get tickets and attend any of their shows. It is always a treat. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, the productions are always top notch, and the memories of the experiences you will have here will last forever.
Anywhere u sit the views are nice and the art on the walls is amazing, in great part of town and service is great
Always get a chuckle from that dragon on the ceiling. Look at those bulging eyes.
Beautiful place. Great theatre experience
I saw Mrs. Doubtfire last night. Awesome show. Awesome venue. The architecture was amazing.
Went to see The Illusionists the show was amazing and the staff there were also amazing. Go and enjoy this wonderful venue!
Had a blast at the 5th avenue theater watching and singing along with the sound of music.
Always a top notch theatre experience! Saw Come From Away, and the show was made even better by the friendly ushers and elegant setting. Very few bad seats in the house. As with any theater downtown, parking can be a hassle, so give yourself plenty of time. The 5th is currently surrounded by construction zones that can make navigating the nearby blocks a bit tricky.
Gorgeous theater. Commonly runs new shows that become hits, like Hairspray!
Just attended West Side Story during the Sunday afternoon show, with my wife. We have been big fans of this musical, since it was first presented. 5th Avenue Theatre company did a magnificent job with their production. The voices of the leads were excellent, the choreography was superb, the orchestra was perfect and the view from our seats back in row Y was just fine. Overall, our experience couldnt have been much better.
Gorgeous theatre. They dont make them like this anymore. Beautiful preservation. Musical was wonderful.
So good, so beautiful. Would have loved more restrooms because the lines get so long
Very fancy, the people that work there are really nice and the audiences are always respectful
I am a big fan of these old theatres. Whereas the seats are narrow, you can get an extra cushion to help get comfortable. The ambiance screams old school. There is a balcony too.
Great theatre, Ive loved everything Ive seen here.
Wonderful Theater to see concerts w/ great restaurants just around the corner.
