Well this is a community fixture and performing Hub. Named after the late great Langston Hughes, this former synagogue has wonderful performance spaces. The photo montage was taken inside the main stage area under the rotunda dome. This offers good acoustics but is enhanced with microphones and speakers. I have been to many events here, mostly celebrating people of color and people from the community. Wonderful memories here. This was a performance of the play and musical ♡Dark Divas♡ directed by the famous KIBIBI MONET....Always a joy to see Dark DIVAs 2019!
Nice do-it-all center. Lots of space for meetings and performances, convenient location not far from downtown Seattle yet still easily accessible from I-90 and I-5. The inside is a bit dated, though. Not horrible, but you can tell that it could use some sprucing up. So be prepared to decorate.
I was mesmerized @ Earshot’s local musician & historian saxophonist Gary Hammon musical journey. It was my 1st time hearing this gifted Jazz performer although I’ve known him since I was 6 yrs old our families go way back.
Beautiful venue where each seat is a winner..... No Air inside.... Hot as Blazes with not one Fan or AC. Poor musicians were dripping wet. They still played so well!! It was wonderful but I wouldnt go back there in the summer! Sorry
The hvac system was dumping so much cold air you couldnt pay attention to the lousy performance of actors who havent been trained in performance speech and fiction, clarity of expression to name a few. I have attended children summer camp performances that were far superior than this.
Amazing. The children were so talented as they began acting or continued their acting/ actress lives. I wish I would have video taped thus event. It was phenomenal & it was free to the public. No more than 6 weeks of practicing & such great work. Simply amazing!!!!!!
Nice performing space.
This former Synagogue transformed to African American inspired performance theater is a beautiful space. I have for 7 years held an event at this venue. The staff is excellent, helpful. The tech person knowledgeable. Its historic presence tells the story of transitions. It is majestic among new architecture lacking creativity.
I love this place. They host such a great selection of local artists, authors, and film. Every thing Ive attended here has been top notch and highlighted the #blackexcellence that Seattle is so quick to dismiss and pave over. Do better Seattle! And follow the lead of Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute!
Parking lot in the back with side entry was very nice. Seating was nice.
Beautiful theater with plenty of comfortable seating and easy, free street parking!
The building and performers were amazing. A fan for life.
Very convenient and comfortable for the film event we attended.
Wonderful venue, great acoustics, staff of the Earshot Jazz Festival and the audience was amazing! Performed with Gary Bartz and Jamaaladeen Tacuma and Ronnie Burrage, incredible!!!
Incredible space for music. Absolutely no bad seats in the house.
Wonder Women event was awesome beyond my words can express. The VIP and Art showing was amazing!!!!

Excellent performing arts institute. The Antoine Hunter performance was engaging. Thanks!
My friend invited me to watch a free jazz concert. I was blow away! Really great facility and good talent.
I love the Central District Forum for Arts and Ideas Sunday Dinners programs!
A great place for small group or a small group conference. We had about fifty people in our group. Quiet enjoyable atmosphere.
I really dig their visual style
I had a fantastic time participating in last weekends Virtual Reality demonstrations and panel discussion for my educational nonprofit, SIXR, during their annual African American Film Festival.
As a former Jewish Temple, this community space offers facilities for many purposes. The theatre is adequate for smallish productions. The meeting rooms are adequate for groups of up to 50 people. Parking is adequate at all times of the day but is in a transitioning neighborhood so dont keep enticing things visible in your car.
Amazing historic venue dedicated to showcasing the outstanding diverse artists that the Seattle area has to offer..like no place else
Great event for the middle and high school kids to see black excellence!!
Nice facility. Stage lighting could use some help. Perhaps more lights.
Beautiful remodeled facility.Informative, thought provoking movie and panel discussion
This is a neat older performance venue. It still has that nice historical charm. Parking is a bit odd if you dont know the nearby area, but otherwise, its a neat place to see a performance.
Cool, big arts center. Clean, welcoming vibe. Old world feel.
Wonderful place for a cultural experience.
Havent been here in long time came too see a great play Jefferson Who Am I
My daughter is taking part in the summer musical. They are teaching her so much. She loves it.
Wonderful Performance, seats uncomfortable, little stuffy atmosphere, Bathrooms, front, in and out very clean, Fabulous
Wonderful staff, great programs and iconic space for Black art.
One of Seattle’s finest cultural institutions, anything featured here is bound to be excellent!
Incredible expresso open mic give me life everytime i go the people are so free and so caring it inspires me alot
The Black Santa event was so cool.
Recently, I came from Spokane to Seattle to be a guest at the film series created by and for young people, including my fifteen year old grandson. It was a lovely theater and I have enjoyed reading about Langston Hughes since being in the theater named after him.The young people were great and the adults who led this effort are to be commended for their work....Sheri Barnard, Spokane, WA
Nice 300+ theater
Great place to hang out
Excellent
Necessary, Very artistic, great 2 have access in the community...Thank U Langston Hughes, The community needs U.
Went there on the first Friday of the month for open mic night which showcases some pretty awesome talented artists of many forms. Doors open at 7pm and its free. However, donations of any amount will help keep it going, so go check it out!

A beautiful space, warm, filled with caring and talented people.
Great event space
Wonderful intimate venue!
I have never had a bad experience at Langston Hughes. Its what the community needs.
A legendary performance center! The introduction platform of my talent & career!
Thanks for the great hospitality, we had an uber meeting there, dinner, great dome ceiling..clean restrooms, and even a payphone!
Cornerstone and bulwark of true Seattle history and culture in the central district. This place must remain eternally despite the gentrification and upscaling of the neighborhood.
Amazing artistry by people of color. Saw India Arie perform.
Great shows and events. Espresso open mic every first Friday of the month is super fun
Elevated perfectly for viewing dance
Their summer program excelled last year. this year i must say that their summer program fell. they are very disorginized, rude and dont let the kids out on time. i am very sad to say. this program should do better
So many awesome performances right in heart of our community
Great venue for live music
