Great place. It is so close to home, tucked away. It is an amazing walk (or run, bike) path. The sound of the creek next to the path is amazing. A couple of downsides- its right underneath the Seatac flight path. The planes are extremely loud, though, I can only recall hearing them near the side of the park by the airport. The middle portion stinks a little, literally, a small portion walks alongside a waste treatment facility. Nevertheless, a great walk.
This is two miles from Des Moines to SeaTac - or the other way around, a total loop being four miles. The trails are well maintained and there is pleasant scenery all the way through. However, there is a wastewater treatment facility along the trail, so the smells are bad for about 1/8 of a mile. And you can’t escape the noise from the flight path of the international airport.
Easy little trail with tree coverage and fresh blackberries. Ending on the beach (if you plan getting there at low tide) is a huge bonus.
Great trail for a run (or walk) when overnighting in SeaTac. Depending on your hotel its just about a perfect 10-12k roundtrip.
Really nice easy trail. All paved easy for the elderly with benches along the way. Only issue is the parking lot is very small with lots of breakins.
I thought it was a lovely Trail! The only thing I didnt like was the car prowl warning sign. But Im glad I was warned!
So much green, nature everywhere you look!! Clear water running through the park. Awesome place for dogs!
Beautiful neighborhood trail. My family and have been walking at this train for 5 years now and we love it.
One of our favorite places with little kids scooting and biking. From 200th to the beach all downhill. A few places to stop along the creek. We go one-way with 2 cars or send an adult uphill while kids play at beach.
The trail ita self was great, good elevation, and great scenery. However, all the restroom facilities were hurting, no toilet paper, some spun around despite being checked before.
Thick greenery masks this wonderful spot and masks the urban surroundings. Leave the parking lot and the departing airliners and run to the shore of the Puget Sound near Demoine Marina.
The trails were great, unfortunately when we got back to our vehicle it had been broken into. They did damage to both doors and broke into the driver side window. They stole my carry on backpack which I had all my clothes and valuables in and I have my flight back home in a few hours. They stole my friends wallet that was in the glove compartment and already started to use his credit cards. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. From reading the google reviews I see this is not the first time someone broke into a car. This park needs to put up a camera to catch this repeat theft offender.
Such a great trail! So sad the parking lot is frequently vandalized. Got our rear glass shattered and there are glass chops all over the area, including fresh glass. Seems like there are homeless living in the woods that are doing that. Authorities are contacted. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. Until then, we dont go. Such a shame.
Awesome park, great for walking, bike riding, skate boarding and I highly recommend it.
Great nature trail, paved and accessible.
Enjoyed my jog on this trail that was conveniently located near my hotel.
This is a great 1.5 mile walk from the trailhead to the beach. Most of it is covered by forest and has a nice stream running next to the path which makes it perfect for warmer days. There is some airplane noise overhead from Sea-tac but besides that it is a very peaceful and beautiful walk.
Very nice place to walk during summer time
Great trail along the Des Moines Creek, bank is steep at times, I keep my kids confined to the pavement mostly. Entire length is paved though trails do exist for trail running. Trailhead signs provide some nice information regarding the surroundings. Parking is limited especially on weekends. There are certainly campers off the path, though i have never had an unpleasant experience.
Nicely paved foot and bike trail connecting the park on 200th to the water. The trail is a steady decline from the park, steep enough to get the heart pumping but not so steep that its torture! The woods are beautiful and the shade is awesome on a hot summer day.
This was once we really need trail made you feel like you were in the woods in the middle of the city but then they clear cut a lot of trees built a bunch of warehouses now from the trail you see the warehouses before from the trail if you met in the wilderness now theyre doing it again just clear cut a bunch of trees off of 200 Street and they just started clear-cutting on 216 before used to go from the Des Moines Marina and Beach all the way to 200th. Its really sad to see this little piece of nature that was left beautiful little place being commercialized.20 years ago my daughter and I used to take her bikes up there and ride the trails School bike trails it was also five star rating over the years its went from a five star to a 2 star by the end of the summer they will clear cut and industrialize so much of it, it will only be worth a single star
Not as quiet or secluded as I had read. The trails are gorgeous and the paths, paved & off-beaten, will provide a worthy workout. Just be mindful that many people bring their dogs, sometimes unleashed, and if youre afraid of dogs like me, it makes the all too frequent moments crossing paths with the canines almost unbearable.I dont mind sharing the hike with the 4 legged rascals, but people should be responsible and respectful of not only other people but be respectful to their pet. So many things can happen to unleashed pets, and subsequent things could occur because of it, and I realize I may need therapy to get over my fear of unfamiliar dogs after being attacked by a pack of 7-9 dogs when I was 8, but I dont like the fact that there are so many unleashed out here.Plus the overhead jet engines are a constant reminder that youre really not in a place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. Its a same too because its absolutely beautiful here.
Beautiful park. Well groomed with 2 mile asphalt trail. Its at its peak of lush green landscape this time of year. Light misty rain accented its personality!!
Nature in all its Beauty! Too bad its next to the airport so planes are going overhead every 2 minutes. Otherwise its great!
It was a nice walk but the noise from the planes constantly taking off really distracted from the experience. It was so loud!
We have been walking our dog here for over a decade. It is on leash only. They have cleared out a lot of trees now. There is only one way in and out between the Des Moines marina and the old Tyee golf course. The paved path is shared with bikes. There are some woods trails, too. Im not a mountain biker, but at time there have been some tracks that look like they could be fun, but I dont think they are consistently maintained.
Des Moines Creek Trail is a pretty awesome place in the middle of a pretty chaotic environment be aware there is noise pollution Galore also there has been many issues with the parking and having vehicles broken into it was suspected that there was a lookout who would wait until people wear a certain distance down the trail and then would signal to those in the nearby wood to proceed with violating vandalizing and stealing whatever they could out of the vehicles so as far as I know and as far as Im concerned I take everything with me I leave my vehicle unlocked and that seems to give them the impression that there is nothing of value or worth their time but these are just suggestions for somebody whos been using the park for a number of years and I dont know that its still an issueBut the walk itself is wonderful you can start either from the Des Moines Marina or at the top from right across from the old golf course I dont remember the name but either way its nice its a good walk to have your pets on leash or its a really fun longboard and or bike trail just be aware stay on your side and make people aware of your presents when youre approaching theres some side Trails a little John sauce to individual Adventure but a great place to take a dog remember your poop bags and also its a good place to meet your neighbors.
This place is awesome! I have been coming here since you had to jump the fence to get to the softies. Now I just walk the trails with my kids.
Its one of the few nice tails in the area, if you dont mind the flight path over head. It is the only local trail I have found of any length. It has a paved party and is popular with dog walkers and joggers.
Really great views. Nice walk to the beach. But not lit at night.
Beautiful paved out and back.
Beautiful place to walk. Feels very secluded except for the planes flying low overhead. If you start at the trail head and walk down to the coast it is all downhill and an easy walk.
Nice and shady on a hot day
A great walk/jog route for the family. I always bring my toddler in a jogging stroller. There’s bathrooms near the beach side. The sound of the creek is so relaxing.
A nice quiet 2 mile stretch, 4 miles both ways. The entrance on 200th isnt much to see but has parking. The trail ends at the park and marina, which is very nice. Great trail for walking, taking the dogs, and riding bikes!
Great trail for easy walking activity if you love shade in hot blasting summer. Clean all paved and safe place to walk.
Good place to unwind there is a mtb trail on the forest too.
Easying trial. Good for family.
Very nice paved trail to walk from trailhead on 200th to the Des Moines Marina. About 4 1/2 miles round trip, downhill to the Marina, and uphill to return (but not a steep climb). Nicely wooded, with the Des Moines Creek running along side most of the way. Well maintained. The trail is used by a variety of people, including parents with infants in strollers, pet walkers, older and younger people. There is parking at the trailhead, but as is true ismn most cases, dont leave valuables in your car.
Great trail for biking and walking
Nice place to walk the dogs on leash, go for a jog or bike ride. The walking path is fairly flat and there are alot of trails to explore off of the main path. Parking is very limited.
Beautiful creek, and completely paved trail! The trail is fairly wide with lots of flat areas nearby, and you have very clear visibility of people on the trail far ahead of you. Also very clean park with benches along the way.
Nice place to visit if waiting for your flight out of town
Bulldozed the bike jumps
Very nice place to walk, jog, or run. 2 miles one way with a gentle slope down to the Des Moines Marina, starting from the trail head with paved parking off S. 200th St. The paved trail is wide enough for more than one person pushing a stroller or walking a pet. Most of the trail is tree lined (with blackberries to pick when they are in season). The Des Moines Creek burbles alongside parts of the trail.
Amazing place
You get the whole place to yourself to mountain bike but also because of that the trails are often overgrown with unforgiving raspberry bushes. The main paved path is very pleasant and even features a few waterfalls.
Many trails. Dog friendly, fun place to escape to.
Morning and evening walks are lovely here. Great area for dogs too!
Nice
Walk this trail every week. The porta potty was disgusting . No paper, beyond full, smelled, vandalism.
A wonderfull walk! Wish pple kept there dogs on leashes more. So beautiful just be careful of aformenchioned dogs being off leash.
Its a nice place to get out and walk the trail
Great trail for the dogs and I. Sometimes the planes are right over your head (the airport is close). Its paved and has a slight slow downward path, which means a slight slow path uphill on the way back.
Was nice but to busy and sketchy now
Great trail with shade and sun when washington permits lol good for dog walks or jigging
Great park, great views and is cool on a hot day because of all of the trees. Its paved which is really stroller friendly
Well maintained walking, running, and biking trail. Good for kids and dogs.
Lots of beauty to behold.
I love riding my mountain bike here.
Lovely walk from angle park station to marina
Very nice walk to take your leashed dog. It is an urban walking trail-airport and construction noise. The trail head parking is slightly difficult to see because it is so small. The trees and the water flowing near the trail are beautiful.
Always a safe and clean trail.
Beautiful place to walk, jog, cycle, rollerskate, or skateboard. Near the ocean there is a nice grass area where you could enjoy a picnic and/enjoy park-like activities. Dog owners, please keep your pets on a leash and pick up their feces if applicable. All visitors, keep area clean by picking up rubbish left behind by people who dont care. Thank you!
Too many people. Parking lot and trails were super crowded.
Walking and biking trails thru a park under the flight path South of the airport.
Beautiful trail. Well maintained. Planes do fly overhead. Couple miles from parking lot to beach. Benches occasionally. Wish there were bathrooms or something as well.
Great place to walk your dog or other best friend even the ones that walk upright
Outdoor sports run or walk
Great little hike. The parking lot is small and usually full. The grass area, beach and tide pool at the end of the trail is great fit kids. Although there is usually potheads smoking in their cars that you can smell from a distance.
I wish the trails were more maintained but I could be wrong its been a while since I was last there but its pretty fun.
Very peaceful and quiet easy paved trail with running creek beside the trail. Trail leads to des moines beach! Small parking lot though
Look for an owl. Airplane noise is a definite turnoff. And there is a corrections facility right next if that is a turnoff for you.
The main trail is really serene. There isnt a car or building in sight. I just wish there werent low flying airplanes going overhead every few minutes. The trails off the paved path are of moderate difficulty. Mostly even but there are a few steep paths that you need really good footwear for.
Beautiful. Needs rest areas on each end of trail.
This is a really cool paved, year-round trail that meanders along Des Moines Creek through a scenic ravine. 1.5 miles from upper trailhead to the beach. If you like airplanes then you have the added bonus of a trail that is right under SeaTac airport’s south approach/departure.
This trail is beautiful.......paved and well taken care of......the city of Des Moines maintains it........mostly dog walkers use this trail in the winter.......in the summer it gets busier with walkers......it never gets too busy though......nice for a family stroll......parking lots on both ends......some shaded areas and it also has sunny open areas.....the trail fallowes along beside the creek.......i always tell friends to try it...... ITS BEAUTIFUL......
Ive been walking the trail for the last two years now and I love it!
Great little trail.
Lots of trees down from the winter storm but they came out cleared it and its a great place to walk
Very peaceful, everyone was friendly.
If you can get past the homeless camps, trash, smell of human feces (not from the sewage plant thats right there) and the juveniles who frequently ditch school to smoke weed along the trail, its not all that bad. I work near the end of the trail in SeaTac and its a nice shortcut which is the only reason I use it, otherwise I wouldnt.
A great family trail. Mostly flat. Paved and most importantly traffic free!
I always enjoy going here. There is a creek, bike trail, and forest paths. I find myself going here constantly
Great for kids or a bike ride.
Nice city trails, easy access
Great place for an easy hike. Its more of a bike trail but still tons of fun.
This is a great place to go for a walk or run. There is a paved path that runs along the creek between SeaTac (S.200th ST ) and Des Moines marina. There are also many trails that wind through the wooded areas on both sides of the creek. It stays shady most of the time making it a great place to run when its hot out.Bring your own water, there are no fountains. There is a public restroom and san-i-can at the Des Moines end.
Awesome trail with quarter mile markers, and its paved so your running shoes wont look like you hiking shoes. It has a lane stripe in the middle, which helps if bikes are present, or busy, which rarely happens. Parking is free if you park on 200th, but if you park at the marina it cost money($1 an hour), which is reasonable, but this is why I did not give the trail 5 stars, that and the fact the water treatment is near the trail and smells for a couple minutes while walking by, only briefly, doesnt ruin the trail. The elevation is around 400 ft.(at 200th), and it ends at sea level(DesMoines marina), so the walk back is perfect for a mild workout. Also, so much nature to look at, such as owls and cranes.
Amazing run. All the way out to the dock. Just beautiful.
Frequently walk my dog here, good trail
Fun trail with good scenery but is below some of the streets and can get kind of sketchy at times.
The heart of town! Refreshing place to walk
