Great place for a stroll, or to make your way into Saxon Woods for a run!
I was first introduced to Weinberg Nature Center 6 years ago by a fellow rehabilitation specialist. It was exciting to finally find a nature preserve to be able to release wildlife back into nature after being rehabilitated. 6 years ago there was only the occasional deer wandering through and or course chipmunks. Today it is a thriving ecosystem with many different species. We even have red squirrels now. along with raccoo, opposum, fox! There has been a great interest in Weinberg by my students at IEY Middle school. They even raised money to build one of the release pens. It has been comforting to know that in a world less concerned with the environment and the species in it that Weinberg is a safe haven for them. The animals rehabbed are WILD ANIMALS and it is their right to be set free. So glad it is in a preserve like Weinberg.
What a great place to go for a quiet walk through the woods. Deer, birds, chipmunk and snakes are some of the animals weve seen on our walks.
Very great to explore. Theres a little camping area (I think you might need to reserve?). Theres trails that lead to Mamaroneck near the French American School, Scarsdale near the Saxon Woods golf course, it overlooks the Hutch, and it leads to Harrisons Mamaroneck Avenue office buildings. I recommend exploring in Fall when theres less bugs. You can go in summer if you keep running though so the bugs cant catch you. They might fly in your nose though. I do not recommend the bugs in your nose.
Gorgeous nature and adorable animals
Great place for children to see some wild life in action!
The lady who worked there was wonderful! Very friendly and accomodating for my elderly mother in law! The displays were nice, but too small. A grant from Westchester County to them would be helpful so that they could add more building space (Like the money that was given to the Greenburgh Nature Center in Scarsdale). This way it could be modernized and expanded.
Liked it due to the variety of animals and the deer and outer space.
Beautiful diversity of native wildflowers and trees boarder the trails of Weinberg Nature Center which provides food and shelter for many interesting wild animals including wild turkeys, deer, birds, butterflies, salamanders, bunnies, groundhogs, chipmunks, frogs, turtles and more. The trailside museum has several naturalists who happily answered many questions about the wildlife and welcomed us to meet some of the animals who live at the museum. Perfect place to picnic and enjoy the wildnerness practically in your backyard!
