02/15/2020 show, Queensryce absolutely rocked the house! Todd La Torre slayed the night. Great powerhouse vocals. Definitely a big fan. Eddie Jackson hammered that bass awsome! Mike Wilton did what he does best slamming the fretboard with a vengeance. Although he stayed in the wings and let everybody shine, Parker came to the front for some slamming fretwork of his own, killer. Casey no slouch on the drum kit really brought it, with the new heavyweight tunes as well as with the classics. With the new album, The band reignited their spirit, shifted gears and slammed it in overdrive.Nice inviting venue.
Saw the Country band Midland here. I got really close to the stage but from the side. Fills up fast but still anywhere you stand inside your gonna have a nice view. Plenty of bars, lighting and sound were just right, and the security is very nice and friendly. Also to add to this when I went there was parking at the ballroom but the American Legion across the street were offering parking too. Not any cheaper but at least it goes towards veterans. So if you dont mind crossing a slightly dangerous road park across the street at the American Legion.
An absolutely fantastic music venue with overall good sound and (in my opinion) a good selection of shows. Drinks are overly expensive (losing a star for that), so its advisable to have a couple prior to entry...where youll be carded and thoroughly frisked. Parking costs as well, so a lot of us prefer to give that money to the vets across the street and walk over. Ill be back, for sure. :-)
One of the best venues if not the best venue in NJ. You can see the stage clearly from where ever you stand (unless you’re short) and you’re close to a bar where ever you stand also.A lot of great bands play here, some alternative, some metal. Crowds are always crazy and security is serious standing on their platforms shining flashlights into the crowd.
Ive been going to Starland since 2003.Pretty much the only thing thats changed (apparently) is that theyve renovated the bathrooms.Security is comprehensive. Live music sounds great. Merch is accessible. This is Central Jerseys go-to for live music!
Great venue for a concert . This is MCID !
Starland Ballroom gets some of the best shows in New Jersey. Its a lot nicer and more inviting since the renovations.
I went for a Machine Gun Kelly concert. Venue was nice, has a ground level and then surrounding it, a raised level and a bar in the back of that. Staff I encountered were kind, would go to this venue again.
I love this venue!! Close to the stage no matter your location! Also good prices!!
Incredible Silversun Pickups show!! Plenty of room and make sure you check out the tables you can get before the show!
Great venue for an intimate show without being too crowded.Ted Nugent rocked the house.
We saw Skillet and Ashes from New there yesterday! The bands were awesome and the benue had a real nice set up for them. Pretty big but great sound all over!
Very pleasant atmosphere to watch concerts. We had a Q & A with Skillet for our sons BDay. The Staff/Security were terrific - especially being in a scooter in the ADA section. Def recommend The Starland Ballroom!!
Great venue. Setup is good. Able to see the stage easily. Attended sold out performance and it was still comfortable. Security was excellent. Would definitely attend another concert here.
Great stage and sound! From all angles you can see the stage. Ive seen so many concerts here and I have no complaints!
Starland has improved so much over the last decade or so. Its cleaner, and much less chaotic where parking is concerned. Always have amazing bands playing and their ticket prices are always reasonable.
Smaller venue; parking on site; general admission seating onlySeen here:Theory of a Deadman
First time visiting Starland, and was pretty disappointed by the venue’s management of the show in general. Doors opened at 7pm, and it was 3.5hrs until the actual headliner went on. Openers were on stage for all of 20 minutes, so we just had to stand there packed like sardines, as the venue crew spent 30-45 minutes running around the stage between sets despite the stage already being set up. Best effort they gave to pass the time was to put on “easy listening/elevator music” through the speakers playing songs no one knew. Headliner was great, but won’t be returning to this venue.
Nice venue, not a bad spot to view the stage! Would definitely come here again!
Great little place to see your favorite bands jam live. Bartenders are really fast and friendly! Security frisk was so awesome I asked her to do it again
Parking isnt ideal having to pay for it but the venue is great! Plenty of space to see the band with and the bathrooms are really nice and clean. Lots of bars too!
The Starland Ballroom is a great venue with amazing sound! I flew from Florida to New Jersey for a concert and I was impressed with the venue. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, tight security and plenty of parking out front. With Spirit flights being so cheap, Im looking forward to my next concert at the Starland Ballroom.
The venue itself is out of the way with a lot of accessible parking. It feels a little as if you’re driving into the middle of nowhere if you’re coming off the turnpike. There are several bars inside, but they pack people in so tightly, with few levels, so it is hard to get a drink when you want one. I definitely would’ve bought more drinks had I been able to even get to the bar after being herded into the center of the venue. The stage is also really low, which makes it difficult to see the acts. It’s a fairly clean place though, and the lights and sound quality were both fair.
Venue is nice, modern, and sound system top notch. The staff form bartenders to security are great, very professional. Drinks are a lil pricey but youre in a nice venue not a hole in the wall, so its acceptable. Wish they had a bit of a better beer selection. That and its location are only things in my opinion keeping it from 5 stars
Nice venue, big enough stage, lots of parking on site and across the street, but not many seats. If youre like me and can not stand for long periods of time you need to get there early if you want a seat. Beer prices inflated but you would expect that at a club like this. I am a return patron to this establishment.
Pros: Great venue, friendly and plentiful staff that are very helpful, clean facilities, lots of parking, nice area.Cons: Very small. I feel like the max occupancy of this venue needs to be decreased for safety reasons.
Had a great experience at the Machine Gun Kelly El Diablo Tour. They had good security as well.
I went to the Falling in Reverse concert tonight (2/17) and one of the security guards inappropriately pushed my boyfriend down a few steps. I can understand if they were trying to do there jobs; however, they didnt give him any warnings, did not say one word and just pushed him off the stair case. That is not how that situation should be handled. He could have been hurt and nobody should be touching him inappropriately in any situation without consent. This was even before the concert started.
Obsessed. Its a treat to have this place so close to my home. Ive been able to catch some A-List performances in a hometown setting. The renovations post Sandy were much needed, but did nothing but improve an already killer venue. Any show here is worth double what you pay. Parking is tight, but there is always room and its never over priced. Carpooling is always discounted or free which is a pleasant bonus. Take advantage of it. Take advantage of what this place has to offer!
Great venue. Would go again for other shows.
Streetlight literally puts on the best show at this venue, the drinks are fair priced! Quick vendor line. Friendly crowd and mosh pits
Venue is great. I have never seen a bad show and I have seen hundreds of them. Parking is easy, staff are nice. Always enjoyable.
Great Venue! First time here and there is plenty of room to stand or Mosh pit but also Everywhere you stand is a great view of the performances!! Multiple bars and security doesnt hassle you if you crowd surf :) So much fun seeing Against Me!
Bartender stole my card information and tried to run $500 in charges at an online retailer (luckily the bank caught it). They were able to pin point the moment it was stolen which was at this place. Beware.
Great venue! It can get super packed but I love going to starland because you can be right up front at a reasonable price. Bathrooms are nice too.
One of the best venues in NJ. While its off the beaten path its still worth the trip. Great artists, good viewing angles virtually anywhere and consistently crisp sound. Also plenty of bars and restrooms no matter where youre standing.
Cool venue. Lots of places to stand so you can still see. Clean and well kept.Could get up close to the bands too.
Always a great venue...multiple bars around so you barely need to wait...security keeps you safe without being jerks about it...great views of stage depending where you stand, but the place is small enough for everywhere to be good
Easily one of the best venues in the Tri-State area. Parking is convenient and reasonable ($7 in my experience). Security is absolutely top notch. Convenient bar and bathroom locations, and decent sound throughout most of the venue. The venue is intimate, though thoughtfully laid out. There are plenty of waist high railings to stand behind and separate yourself from others, there are bathrooms in three of the four corners, multiple bars in convenient locations, and the drinks are reasonably priced for a concert venue. Leaving the parking lot can be rather challenging if youre parked far from the road. My advice would be to arrive a bit early to get a decent spot; both in the parking lot and within the venue. If you get parked far away from the road, take your time leaving the venue; shop for merch, use the restrooms, etc.
The show here was absolutely packed they had a great time
Sold out shows get HOT. But they do give water in a cup now so you dont need to buy a water bottle- thank you!! My favorite location to see a band sure to the size of the venue and typically the fans of the bands playing.
Great venue. Staff is friendly and helpful. Prices for food and drink are reasonable for shows. If you are able, pay for the StarSeating. It is totally worth it.
Great sound, parking available for a fee. Easy access. Overall a great experience and worth the drive. Saw Death Cab for Cutie play a couple of weeks ago.
Seems like quite a few renovations have been done. Clean and beautiful inside. They added a fan that comes on to cool down the fans.Really a terrific venue !
This is an ok venue if you get early. It always gets super crowded during concerts, the stage is too low so you cant really see the artists playing their guitar, dont even talk about the drummer. Unless of course youre 6 ft tall.Giving them 3 starts because at least the sound is decent and parking price is not excessive, usually $7. Just wish the stage was 5 more inches taller.
For a place that only holds 2500, it definitely feels bigger... The club only gets better every year... Great sound in this room and seeing ur fav bands in a more intimate setting, is hella better than a huge arena show... Staff is great and drink prices are reasonable, with a good variety of beers... Definitely check it out if u havent already... For those who are from Jersey, u may remember this place back in the day as Hunka Bunka lol
Excellent venue to see a show. I usually take the Starseating option to avoid being squeezed to death down on the floor. Security personnel are well trained and on point!
Great venue great staff
Always a good time at starland! Love that I can grab a drink or food and not miss the show. Parking is $7 for anyone who may ask! Totally worth the hour drive to go there!!!
We had a great time seeing Highly Suspect. We were concerned about how the crowd was going to be from people who had been to other shows there. We ended up having a great time with both Slothrust and Highly Suspect.
Great show up close and personal with one of the greatest bands of all times
I have been here many times but recently was the worst experience. While the performers were great, the staff and set up were abysmal. The bartenders take both your credit card and license, then requiring you to shout your name over the sound every time you want your drink. The staff on the floor were incredibly pushy and rough with everyone in the crowd. The bartender refused to let me have bottles of water on the way out and so I received cups of water, which I was then informed I wasn’t allowed to bring the water to my friend who had already left. They hovered around us and made us feel like criminals. Also, the drink selection was absolute garbage so water was pretty much the best thing they had.
Awesome place for a concert. Got to see CLUTCH here during their Holiday Run shows 12/30/2019
Great place for a venue. Incredible band and a great time. All staff were courteous. You will be happy by visiting Starland.
Great venue for concerts! No seating other than at the bar, comfortable for all ages. Clean and renovated bathrooms!! Convenient parking.
Security is mediocre and occasionally aggressive. Though the addition of full body metal detectors makes you feel safer.Food is expensive but no more than at a similar venue. The sound system is garbage, but since its one of the few venues of its size in the area, youll likely have no choice but to see your favorite bands here.
My bro took me here for my bday and I had a blast. Great vibes.
Nice venue, friendly and helpful staff for a first timer. Lol nice place to hear some music
Great place. Great sound. Great shows and artists that play. Definitely one of the best places to go in New Jersey. The security is a little too much at metal shows. But have gotten much better in the past year or 2. I know Ill be here over and over again in the future
Keeping the rock alive in New Jersey!Always a fan of Starland Ballroom. Glad to see that the storm didnt take them out and they were able to reopen and finally renovate and restore themselves to better standards of sound quality. Frequently performing with rock, country, and pop dance acts then youll see many musical and comical artist comes through Starland making it a place frequented often by myself and Im sure many of you as well. Before heading in I often find myself across the street at the VFW for some cheap beers and drinks, the bigger shows it might get a little crowded at. Parking can get pretty crazy especially if the show has sold out, so youve been warned. Upstairs they have their offices in a few of the bands may be up there prepping before a show, or setting up for interviews. Walking around the venue, youll find that theres a bar in the back and on both left and right sides as well, but they will only open certain sections based off of how many tickets they have sold for that show. Also if they expect a young crowd to be a part of the festivities, you may have to get a wristband to show that youre over 21 to get a drink at the bars. If you get there early you can grab a slice of pizza, but its just pizza from up the street with a markup on it, and theres a Wawa right down the road so make your pre-show decisions wisely. Also, if you find yourself frequent thing shows there often, they also offer a yearly pass that get you access into pretty much all the shows they have for a one time fee at the beginning of the year. They also do this towards the end of the year usually around the fall to get the last 4 months of shows with some similar form of that offer. Its worth checking out, Ive heard good things from it.
General admission rock club with some good acts. Be prepared to stand unless youre real early, or pay a premium.
Wonderful smaller venue with great sound. Spotless clean ladies room!!! Your welcome ladies...lol
Getting here from NYC is a little annoying of you dont have a car. The parking is $7 dollars, but if the show is sold out and you carpool with +4 people you get to park for free. If you take public transportation then youll need to take the Long Branch train to South Amboy and Cab, Uber or Lyft to the train, but carefull because going back to the train from the venue using uber can be a long wait and you might have to wait for the 12:12 train to penn if you miss the 11:12.They have coat check, but do not bring a bookbag because they wont let you enter with it even if you plan to coat check it. The only option youll have is to leave it outside the venue.
Love seeing shows at starland! Security is top notch. Thank you guys for keeping everyone safe! See you next time!
Just saw Sleeping With Sirens on The Medicine Tour it was great
Amazing venue. It had a great sound, the stage was super close, the bathrooms extremely clean, no lines to get in or out after the show. 10/10 would return
This is an awesome venue. In the middle of nowhere tiny little place. Great sound.
Amazing small venue. I absolutely loved it! Cant walt to come back
Perfect venue to see punk legends. Saw lagwagon and face to face. Love that you can go out and smoke and water is well priced
Great venue!! Annual Clutchmas show always fun.
I had such a great time my boyfriends brother Tommy Rice with singing there
It gets too crowded. The younger people dont know how to behave in this type of situation. If you go to a show thats all over people then there is no problem. Its a great smaller venue. You can get close to the artists.
So much fun to see a show here. The sound is always great and there is always a great band!
Love this venue. Youre up close to the bands everyone is always great, into the music no fighting. Will continue to come here
Wasnt super packed which made the venue perfect. Hung out with friends near the side of the bar pretty much directly in front of the stage, Perfect view and minimal crowd.
I have been going to Starland Ballroom since 2005. Great small venue for concerts, parking great, staff great. No matter what type of music you enjoy, they always have a good variety of bands.
Only complaint id ever have here is singers vocals are hard to make out bc instruments are so juiced up
Great music venue however the sound echos and often is over charged. This causes an echo behind already lound sounds. If this where to be fixed I would rate the venue 5 stars.
Ive been going to starland since I was 15 and I have never been to a bad show. Always great energy!!
Nice venue but its not big and it can get really crowded some days and I dont like being jammed into a little space. It is mainly standing although there are a few seats sometimes you cant see the stage then or arent close.
Very cool place to see a band! Great sound and atmosphere!
This was my first concert at this venue. Plenty of parking, friendly staff, thorough security check and the sound was good. I got to see Kings X perform a great set.Apart from some side premium seating areas its general admission.
Great venue! Ive seen everyone from Taking Back Sunday to Motion City Soundtrack. Ill actully be there for MCS next week!
My first time there and it was pretty great, the security was phenomenal
This place has become one of my favorite concert venues. Its a bit of a hike from my house, about 2 hours, but its well worth it every time Ive been there. Parking is great, layout of the venue is perfect, staff and security are always good. Never had a bad time at the Starland Ballroom.
Great venue. Saw an exceptional band. Explosions In The Sky. Would definitely go there again.
Great place NSP ROCKED THE ROOF OFF
Great intimate venue. great artists and bands every time
7 dollar parking and 20 dollars for a single drink??? Starland is milking this cash cow a little too hard. Take the drive to NYC...at least the scenery will be nicer.
Awesome venue. Not a bad spot In the whole place. Plenty of bars spread throughout to easily access if crowded. Plenty of clean updated restrooms placed throughout as well.
Big enough to not feel crowded, small enough to be intimate
Always an awesome time!
Sad it will be closed for most of 2021
Great small venue to see the bands you love. The security staff is very attentive and there but not intrusive like other venues. 4 stars because of the jacked up beer prices...
